What is the difference between the square text boxes with quotes (i.e. Bode at the start of Chapter 2) and the square text boxes with no quotes (i.e. Kinsey at the start of Chapter 3)? Do the quotes imply they are actually talking to themselves (not-audible) and the non-quotes imply strictly thought?

I think you're right. I don't see big differences. We can see at the end of the monologue in Chapter 2 that Bode is thinking the whole time while he's fishing, so maybe he's really talking to himself in his head, remembering when he was a ghost. It seems that he's telling himself the story. But Kinsey's just doing different things while she thinks.I read the french version and there are quotes for Bode but not for Kinsey.
