I'm kind of biased because I HATE zombie books for the most part, but this one was downright irritating. I read maybe ten pages before I quit, and I swear she said "the dead!" a million times in just those ten pages.

I dislike zombie books too - i've only read one, and it was a horrid one. c: And ugh, sounds horrid. D:

I liked Carrie Ryan's second book up until the end, but that's it. I don't really know why I keep trying to read the zombie books... I did the same thing with Lauren Kate's books. I knew I wouldn't like them, but I forced myself through the first two. :P

You're the second person who has advised against this book. Haha perhaps I won't read it after all.

I refuse to read that because of the authors atrocious behaviour when it came to a blogger's review.

Aww, I enjoyed Ice a lot, but maybe I just adore that folk tale immensely so I like most adaptations of it.

I hadn't heard the original tale, but generally I love retellings and adaptations of folk tales. I've met one or two others that loved Ice, though. I think I just didn't like the writing style.

I didn't like either of these. I never read past book two. I knew I wouldn't like them before I tried to read them, though. I sort of do that a lot for some odd reason..

Now, I'm curious. What did the writer do?

It was started out as either the author or her agent (or both) liking and promoting positive reviews to make the book look better, then when someone posted this review (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...), things got ugly between the reader and the author or agent or both. The author apologized evenutally, but it was kind of a big deal for reviewers on goodreads. It started a whole lot of drama about negative reviews.

i loved the first one, dislike the way daniel suddenly turns soft at luce and changes in the second 1 but it wasn't that bad, 3rd 1 least favourite but didn't dislike it, fourth 1 was good but not as good as 1st, the extra

Oh, I see, another one of those. This has happened a few times, and I'm not sure why this is a lesson so many people need to learn the hard way. The digital age makes it *harder* not easier to pull of a scam like a sock puppet review, and there is no point arguing with readers. Goodreads isn't a place for authors to have their egos stroked, it's a place where readers share their honest opinions about the books they read and whether they'd recommend them. Arguing is like attacking someone in an ice cream parlor because they say they don't like chocolate ice cream. You're not gonna sell ice cream that way...

Haha yes! Exactly. Unfortunately, things like that tend to get ugly, so I try to stay uninvolved.

That one really annoyed me because I hate zombies and read it anyway, and the main character was just unlikeable.

Looks like she's had a long career and built up a fanbase for herself. As another writer friend of mine says, "There's no accounting for taste, and thank goodness for that!" There's a place in the market for just about everyone (and threads like this one to help people steer clear of writers they won't enjoy.)

Hush hush was like twilight with angels which annoyed me
Then I just couldn't get into the story of the forest of hands and teeth. It just didn't flow right.
