This is a topic to tell books to avoid, those books that made you groan and toss them across the room(not in a good way!) and consider burning them.

I have three said books, please don't throw potatoes at me as Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth is one of them. c: The others are Daughter of the Centaurs (Centauriad, #1) by Kate Klimo & Article 5 (Article 5, #1) by Kristen Simmons .

I'm kind of biased because I HATE zombie books for the most part, but this one was downright irritating. I read maybe ten pages before I quit, and I swear she said "the dead!" a million times in just those ten pages.

I dislike zombie books too - i've only read one, and it was a horrid one. c: And ugh, sounds horrid. D:

I liked Carrie Ryan's second book up until the end, but that's it. I don't really know why I keep trying to read the zombie books... I did the same thing with Lauren Kate's books. I knew I wouldn't like them, but I forced myself through the first two. :P

Oh, and I actually didn't like Divergent at first either, but Insurgent was amazing :)

You're the second person who has advised against this book. Haha perhaps I won't read it after all.

I refuse to read that because of the authors atrocious behaviour when it came to a blogger's review.

Aww, I enjoyed Ice a lot, but maybe I just adore that folk tale immensely so I like most adaptations of it.

I hadn't heard the original tale, but generally I love retellings and adaptations of folk tales. I've met one or two others that loved Ice, though. I think I just didn't like the writing style.

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1) by Wendy Higgins
Sorry for the ones who loved it but I hated it.

I didn't like either of these. I never read past book two. I knew I wouldn't like them before I tried to read them, though. I sort of do that a lot for some odd reason..

It was started out as either the author or her agent (or both) liking and promoting positive reviews to make the book look better, then when someone posted this review (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...), things got ugly between the reader and the author or agent or both. The author apologized evenutally, but it was kind of a big deal for reviewers on goodreads. It started a whole lot of drama about negative reviews.

Shuhan [On Leave] (Inyourclosetinyourhead) Run With the Wind (Book 1) by Tom McCaughren i got it from the school library but i won't say that i hate it because, to me, hate is too strong a word for this book. i'd say that i disliked it in some parts because that they were monotonous.

Fallen in Love (Fallen, #3.5) by Lauren Kate was actually quite good! but i thik u guys should finish it. when u read rapture, it'll be intresting.

Oh, I see, another one of those. This has happened a few times, and I'm not sure why this is a lesson so many people need to learn the hard way. The digital age makes it *harder* not easier to pull of a scam like a sock puppet review, and there is no point arguing with readers. Goodreads isn't a place for authors to have their egos stroked, it's a place where readers share their honest opinions about the books they read and whether they'd recommend them. Arguing is like attacking someone in an ice cream parlor because they say they don't like chocolate ice cream. You're not gonna sell ice cream that way...

That one really annoyed me because I hate zombies and read it anyway, and the main character was just unlikeable.

Looks like she's had a long career and built up a fanbase for herself. As another writer friend of mine says, "There's no accounting for taste, and thank goodness for that!" There's a place in the market for just about everyone (and threads like this one to help people steer clear of writers they won't enjoy.)

Chloe (chloe36) I thought Zombie Blondes was a waste of time and I really regret reading it.

Kimberly I thought that Splintered by A.G. Howard was a bit of a waste of time. I didn't hate the book but it felt like it was put together by children sometimes. It was an okay read if you have absolutely nothing else to read but I'd avoid it if I had the choice to not read it.

Jake | 41 comments Well, there's The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride, #1) by James Patterson just because the series ending is terrible and the first one sucks you in. Also, The Merchant of Death (Pendragon, #1) by D.J. MacHale because the writing is awful and shallow plus Bobby's character is arrogant and agitating- wait, did Emily say Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth ? *throws potatoes*

I've been meaning to read The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride, #1) by James Patterson for a while, but maybe i'll have to mark it as avoid - thanks for the warning. ^-^
