Janna Marie (jannamarie) | 548 comments BTW Trisha, I don't like Grayson either. Such a pig!

Gisbelle | 25787 comments grayson is such a tool.

I hope the book is not going to be too much of a tearjerker. Hope we can handle it :)

What Six wrote to Sky was so adorable. I love to have a friend like that. Minus the sluttiness

Trisha | 30284 comments "so whether or not we're dating, I'm declaring us exclusive."

The humor in this book is just amazing. I am laughing out loud and snorting so much my kids are starting to look at my like I'm crazy! LOL!

and I love the little stars as page breaks :) they are so cute

Trisha | 30284 comments I knew it!!!

lol spoilery spoiler stuff (at least my guess)

(view spoiler)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I thought so too Trisha. And I hope it is wrong. I hate reading about such subjects. They break my heart.

I like the exclusive part too :)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments lol I loved Sky's reaction to Brecken's gift :) just like how I reacted when I got my very first e-reader. Now I'm using my second one.
For that alone, Brecken has become my favorite. He knows how to give gift lol... Anyway, I love that we now can read more about him. He is a very good friend. I like what he did after Holder lost his temper.

Trisha | 30284 comments me too. ice cream really can cure a crummy day

when my girls have bad days I take them to either: get smoothie/icee, cup cake or ice cream. it just depends on how bad the day was.. :)

oh, this book is SO good! I'm to Sept 29th.... about a month until Chapter one, right? ugh :(

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I love having gelato during bad days :)

I'm in the same chapter. Yes, about a month :(

Gisbelle | 25787 comments oh forgot one thing. When Sky talked about her e reader, how she loved happy ending and would lock the characters in the garage until there was a happy ending, Sea of Tranquility popped up in my mind :)

Trisha | 30284 comments Whitney wrote: "Janna what are you reading?"

we're reading Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Trisha wrote: "wow...and I just finished the book. ...."

Seriously!?!? Wow...

Janna Marie (jannamarie) | 548 comments I finished the book soon after I last commented. I couldn't help it! I just COULD NOT put the book down. I agree with you Trisha, whole-heartedly. Wow!!!

Where are you Gisbelle?

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I am still in September 29. I will read more tomorrow. I need to get something done for my job first :)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Alright I am in the beginning of Sunday October 28, 2012 12:37 a.m. About 25% more and I will finish the book.

So far, it reminds me of A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard .

I will read more later :)

Janna Marie (jannamarie) | 548 comments No big deal, we all have a life we need to tend to occassionally. Though, sometimes I wish I could do those things AND read. LOL

Until you finish, or get to a stopping point you want to talk about, my lips are sealed. :D

Trisha and I definitely finished it fast!

Gisbelle | 25787 comments You don't have to tell me. You ladies are SO fast :)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I finished guys. What a heartbreaking story! But I still like her book Slammed more :) This one is too messed up.

Janna Marie (jannamarie) | 548 comments Yes, it was heartbreaking.

Slammed was better?! Wow, now I HAVE to read that one. Trisha and I are going to buddy read it.

What'd you think of the suicide? I was shocked about Les! Though, in hindsight, I guess I shouldn't have been. Lol.

I don't know who I felt worse for.. Sky or Holder.

Sky, with all the horrible things in her past..

Or Holder, with the loss of so much. The guy is surrounded by heartbreaking facts. The woman he loves and his sister? Talk about heartbreaking.

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Yes, Slammed is much better in my opinion. Maybe because this book is about raping and I really, really hate reading about it :( Especially raping a little girl. It is just too cruel.

I was shocked about Les also. I didn't expect that. Poor Les.

The book was a bit predictable, but I loved how the author tried everything together at the end.

One thing I didn't like was that Sky's Dad killed himself. I wanted to see some more suffering first. But it seemed to end too quickly.

Both Sky and Holder had such nasty lives. I was glad they found each other in the end.

message 77: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments I want to read Slammed so bad (fingers crossed my library orders it SOON!!! Then we'll buddy read Janna! LOL!)

Yeah, I thought the book was a little predictable too. Like I knew from the get go when she said she was numb that she'd been abused.

I agree with Gisbelle about the dad too. The suicide just seemed so quick! I barely had time to process she was running to his house and then it was all over.

But, I guess it was better than having to decide if she was going to reveal herself so she could get him prosecuted (so he couldn't do this to anyone else).

I love love love that it was her dad's sister that raised her. I was a little worried it was actually going to be a baby sitter or school counselor - or her actual Social Services case worker! Ack! I'm so glad it was a fellow survivor.

I can't imagine the sister waiting all those years just hoping beyond all hope that her Police Officer brother never found them. How scary!

I think my favorite line in the whole book (and almost got me to cry! almost) was when the mom/aunt and Sky/hope are hugging and they are now victim to victim, survivor to survivor. Such powerful words.

although I didn't think it was my favorite book this year, I really did love it!

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Yes, I loved that part too. If it was not for her aunt, I couldn't imagine how her life might have been.

I loved that line too Trisha. I almost cried to in the last chapter. It was so heartfelt.

message 79: by Janna (last edited Jan 26, 2013 08:18PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Janna Marie (jannamarie) | 548 comments I agree completely with you both.

I think her dad should of had to suffer more, in some way. Though, at least another girl will not be victim of his hands. He was trying to justify himself for everything he did right until the very end, a true monster.

I hate to admit it, but I like books about rape. Not that I think the situation is glamorous or anything, it's definitely not. I know that, first hand. When I was in high school I wanted to be a Psychologist for children who were abuse/raped. Now that I am in college, I have switched to Criminal Psychology so I can catch the rapists. I decided to be more pro-active. Rape is a tough subject, but it happens to so many people. I think we almost NEED a few YA books about it to give younger victims hope. I know it's a strange way of thinking about it, but my view changed that day.

BTW, Trisha, let me know when you get Slammed.. I want to read it so bad!! :D

(I'm sorry if that seemed a bit heavy!!)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments You guys have to read Slammed :) It is so good. A lot of people love Point of Retreat also (book 2), but I didn't. So if you guys read this series, I can jump in and talk with both of you :D

Trisha | 30284 comments Yeah, that was cool.I liked seeing the same seen from the other perspective. :) READ IT!!! LOL! It was great!

OH! and thank you thank you Gisbelle for sharing that!!! :D

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments I finished Hopeless and I liked it a lot, but I got tired of the repetitiveness of "licking" and "tucking hair behind the ear" and "balling up fists" and "grabbed the waist" to the point that it really took away for me. Did anyone else experience that?

message 84: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments hahahah!!! LOL! No, I didn't notice the repetition. I guess I should of, now that I think about it.

I liked it but the book felt rushed at the end. all these things happened in really quick succession, to me I would have liked more time with each thing.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Trisha, I totally agree with the quickness at the end. That was such an important part of the story! It seems like they found her father, found out everything that he admitted to, he kills himself, Sky & Holder go back & clean themselves, she goes to Karen and not only forgives ger but thanks her and everything is hunky-dory, especially because she (Karen) is Sky's aunt and has also been victimized.

But the licking over and over and over began to remind me of a cow's tongue...kind of ruined some of the romance! Lol Then Holder kept putting his hands on Sky's waist, pulling her by the waist, grabbing her by the waist, lifting her by the waist. And I found myself wondering if she had any other body parts that he could possibly touch or hold. LOL and the FISTS THRU THE HAIR??? Every single romantic interlude? That is why it just began to feel forced to me.

message 86: by Trisha, lives on coffee (last edited Jan 29, 2013 09:31AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments LOL!!! OMG!!! All the licking reminding you of a cow?!? Seriously, that is hilarious!!! :D I can see how that would be distracting!

yeah, I remember he had some obsession with touching her hair, but that seems pretty common - at least in the last few romances I've read....lol maybe not Fists through hair, but at least fingers! :P

Gisbelle | 25787 comments This is hilarious!

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments I know about the physicality of a romance, and I understand the hair obsession, and not being able to keep your hands off someone! I do! Hello? I have 5 kids and 19 grand kids. Lol

I guess my point is that, for me, it was overkill.

I love cows by the way. Lol

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Haha... you are a hoot Vic :) I hate when the authors repeat themselves. One of the book I read last year, the author kept using "babe" like 5 times just in one page.

message 90: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments "Babe" - I don't know why, that drives me nuts in books! Isn't that silly?? It would drive me bananas if an author used it 5 times on one page! LOL! I hope I don't find that book, Gisbelle :D

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Yes, pretty silly. I can't remember the last time I used that word.

And "wink"... In a lot of books I have read now, the characters always wink. A lot.

message 92: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments YES!!! What is that??? all that winking?? is that supposed to be hot?? that's annoying too!

But somehow not as bad s "babe" ugh, that just makes me shudder!

LOL I swear I really do like books! hahah!!! I guess I'm on a bit of a rant! I must be grumpy today! :D

Gisbelle | 25787 comments lol... Winking is NOT hot.

I agree "babe" sends chill down my spine. Not in a good way. And the book was written by Kristen Ashley called Mystery Man. She needs to tone down on using "Babe".

message 94: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Trisha | 30284 comments ugh....noting that book now! LOL! thank you for the heads up!

Gisbelle | 25787 comments IF you have time to read it, you'll see :) And welcome by the way.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments You two would go nuts in my home then. My husband and I both call each other babe, but at least you wouldn't have to see me LICK his dimples!! Lol OMG I am still thinking of that!!

A walk down LICK LANE:

Page 23 "I went from wanting to lick his dimples to wanting to get the hell away from him."

Page 62 "Shut up and lick it or I'm keeping it for myself." Lol

Page 87 "He kisses and licks and teases every inch of my neck"

Page 114 "He opens the door and turns around before he leaves, slowly easing his way outside, teasing me with his playful grin and lickable dimples." Lol

Page 176 "His dimples are so adorable; I actually lean over and lick one this time." OMG lol

Page 176 "You wanted to lick my face the first time you saw me?"

Page 177 "You're the only guy I've ever had the urge to lick."

Page 230 "'It could have just been the fact that you wanted to lick my dimples,' he says, shoving the fork full into his mouth."

And that does not include all of the times that he licked his lips LOL

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) Finished this recently.

Beautiful and Emotional. :)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I know, right? I was so furious when I found out what Sky's father had done to her and a few other girls. He was monster!

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) That moment was really surprising. I feel sorry to his victims. How dare him?!

I like the mystery towards the end.
