Beverly This has been bothering me ever since I found out Daemon is pronounced Demon, but is it really? I've been searching the author's website and a bunch of other places, but I can't find the author saying anything about it and everywhere else it refers to the old spelling of demon which is daemon.

So how do you pronounce Daemon? Like Damon or Demon?

Megan I pronounce it like Damon. I actually never heard someone say it like Demon, and I know a few people who have read it.

Katy's name, however, has always gotten to me.. since Daemon calls her Kitten I've wondered if her name was pronounced like Cat-y instead of like Katie. My friends don't seem to know for sure either.. lol

I once had a teacher named like that, and she pronounced it like you've said, not like Katie, but Ca-ty.

Then that is most likely how its supposed to be said. It makes sense, I guess. Its just a little odd. Lol

Okay thanks, I was just wondering because there are other words where 'ae' is pronounced with an 'e' sound instead of 'a' and I was curious.

With Katy, however, I think it is pronounced Katie. My understanding was that Katy sounded like Kitty and Daemon just expanded it to Kitten.

Chelsie I say 'Damon'
But what if we were supposed to say Katy's name like 'Cady', like it being the opposite of Mean Girls... hehehe :)

~*~Princess Nya Vasiliev~*~ I pronounce it as "Damon" as well, and Daemon calls Katy "Kitten", but her dad use to call her that too. The 1st time he did, I remember Katy being shocked and a little ticked off about it cos only her dad would call her that or something close to that.

And I took it as in book 1 Daemon was like she reminded him of a little ticked off kitten when she's mad. So I thought that was why he called her that. It never crossed my mind that it could be cos of how her name may or may not be pronounced.

Kendra There was a boy at school named Daemon and he pronounced it as Damon.

Kimberly I have NO clue why, but I first read Daemon as Day-ee-mon and thought that was the weirdest name ever. It sounding like Damon makes A LOT more sense haha.

Sarika Patkotwar I pronounce it as Damon. It didn't even occur to me... I just kept saying and reading it as Damon.

Sophie I say Damon, cause "Demon" just sounds too... unnatural

with Katy i pronounce it katie but now im not to sure...

reeba i pronounce it with an e.

i googled it and it is with an e...(dēmən)
you can even listen to the pronunciation on google.

D I pronounce it Damon as well. First off, how would a bunch of high schoolers just accept a dude with the name Demon and not make a big deal of it? idk...
with Katy, internally I say Katie, but I always figured it was Cady because of the kitten reference but also because he calls her Kat a lot as well, so Kat from Katie is a pretty big stretch.

Mindy It's funny cause I pronouced it as Damon in this series but in the convenant series, I pronounced Daimon as demon.

Ashley Tropea I pronounce it as Damon and that thing about Katy I think it's supposed to be said Katie, but a nickname for Katie is Kat which he just expanded to kitten

Megan I forgot this feed existed. Lol

Honestly, I pronounce Katy as Katie, but only while I'm reading in my head. I switch to Cady when I speak out loud.

I'm just all mixed around. Haha

message 24: by Mel (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mel Apparently it's "dee-mon" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VmGsD... This guy in the video has the same name, and that's how he pronounces it. I say it in my head as Day-mon though when reading the Lux series.

Trace I think it's one of those names that could go either way, but the author pronounces it as "Damon".. So, I think it's finally settled :)

message 26: by Kary (new) - rated it 4 stars

I'm not sure about the Q&A, but I know she mentioned his name in this interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_jM34... and she says "Damon" :)

Shardanay Smith Is Kat pronounced like cat or Kate

Iesha Collins I'm currently listening to this audio-book and the narrator says Demon and it is driving me nuts. It just sounds weird every time his name is said. The first time his sister said his name, I thought she was calling him a demon! Then they just kept calling him that as his name... Glad I'm not the only one questioning this...

Aria i pronounce it Daem-EE-an

message 32: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Thorne It's definitely pronounced "demon" hence, the line in the book "“So the dickhead had a name. Daemon—seemed fitting.”
