Jess S (mintchip) | 267 comments Stacy totally agree its weird why he would spill his secret to Archer of all people…and I totally wouldn't put it past him to want to collar Celeana. After all according to him she's a belonging.

Same. I want to know more about why he is the way he is.
And then I want him to die.

KritikaB | 10 comments He's gone...Yeah! I just thought it would be a bit more fighting (Like sword fight)between Aelin & Arobynn.

He's psycho & he cant understand let alone feel love its a tool to him and nothing else!

What do we know about Arobynn:
He loves only himself
He's Cruel

Damn, you were spot on. I'd also like to add that I think the bastard had Brullo and Ress caught. Aelin was bragging about her connections within the palace which gave her an advantage over him. And he knew the King would love to know, sort of like an apology gift for the saving of Aedion rumour. He probably had word sent right before he died.

Alice (Booksandfreshlybrewedtea) (earthtoalice) | 46 comments DO NOT READ IT THIS MESSAGE IF YOU HAVENT READ QOS

I don't know if it's just me but I felt that his murder was too easy yanno? It was made up that he was a clever man and always saw things and predicted
Aelin couldn't have been the only person wanting to murder hi he would have multiple enemy's so his guard should always be up

SO WHY WAS HE KILLED OFF SO EASILY! No drama or anything !?!? Ahhh!

Lexie I agree. I haven't finished QoS yet (but don't worry I just read the part where Arobynn was killed) and I thought his death would be WAY different. I mean, considering all he had done to AELIN and what she thought about him, I was so expecting a big fight between the two with swords and knives, full of strong words and arguing, and then Aelin finally ending her long time tormentor, finally triumphing over him. It's almost Arobynn was disregarded, as if the author just wanted to hurry up and get it over and done with. That's sad though bc honestly Arobynn was an awesome character, he should've produced a huge challenge for Aelin to finally defeat, not just be killed off that easily. I guess it could represent irony, that someone so strong and smart and cunning and powerful was killed so easily but still. I have to say I'm not satisfied with how Arobynn died.

Lydia (greciandaisy) | 174 comments Arobynn and Aelin always had a battle of wits. He ALWAYS outsmarted her and used any and every connection she had against her. He manipulated everything around her because he always wanted to be in control. He was a power hungry, illustrious, pompous, thought provoking, infuriating, and utterly devious man who wanted nothing but to control Aelin (and possibly her reign) as seen before his death.

The way he died was complete perfection to me, because Aelin FINALLY outsmarted him and played him at his own game. By making him believe he had the upper hand and willingly falling into his trap she enabled everything to crumble all around him and he never even knew. Lysandra was used by Arobynn in so many ways as well. He bought her first night with ALL of Aelin's Gold that she earned to pay him off so he could make Aelin feel bad. He used Lysandra for YEARS as his personal prostitute after watching her grow up, just like Aelin.

Aelin he used and honed into what he wanted. Lysandra he watched and waited and then BOUGHT her out of spite to Aelin and because he wanted to. He also used and encouraged Lysandra's jealousy of Aelin for his favor. He is a SICK man and Lysandra finally getting her revenge on him for herself AND Aelin was beautiful. He murdered Lysandra's lover and one of her only friends, Sam. And he murdered Sam because he wanted to show Aelin there would consequences for trying to do things on HER terms and not his.

The fact that he never saw Lysandra as anything more than a pawn in his game that he could use was sickening to me. And it was ultimately his undoing, because at the height of his "Glory" (or so he thought) he called on her to "celebrate" and was killed in his sleep by her. Choking and dying in a pool of his own, gloriously decietful and selfish blood.

Aelin despite EVERYTHING Arobynn did to her, saw him as the only Fatherly figure she ever had. She didn't even know for the longest time what he was to her, but letting Lysandra make the kill was a gift and it also enabled Aelin not to have to picture her only parental-ish figure dying in front of her. And strategically she was no where near Arobynn when he died so when the contents of his will were revealed she would not be suspect.

Aelin came, saw and conquered her former "Master."

message 113: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Yeah I suppose, but I still feel that Aelin didn't really finally defeat and triumph over Arobynn. Ok so maybe it was fitting that Lysandra dealt the killing blow to Arobynn but I think Aelin should've been involved a little more in the fight. Like maybe Aelin and Lysandra could've fought Arobynn together and then Lysandra be the one to deal the killing blow, but only after Aelin had made him pay for everything he had done to her. That also would've showed off Aelin and Lysandra's newfound friendship which would've shocked Arobynn beyond compare. I just think Aelin should've been there for Arobynn's death, to show that she had finally outsmarted him this time, finally triumphed over him, and then Lysandra dealt the killing blow. Then that would've showed that they both finally defeated the man who had used them all their lives.

I agree whole heartedly with you. The best form of revenge Aelin could have got would be to take everything he holds dear away from him and then kill him...and thats what she did. The only thing he cared about was his businesses and power. So what did she do she destroyed all his businesses right out from under him....AND she freaking changed his WILL...fing brilliant! Even in death he still didnt get his way. AND that money instead of being used to buy more prositutes and slaves will be used to build her country...He's probably rolling around in his grave at that.I'm sorry I cant come up with a better form of revenge than that. It was poetry and I'm happy Lysandra painted the sheets and walls with his blood after having to suffer him for years.

message 115: by Theeshi (last edited Sep 15, 2015 03:36AM) (new)

Theeshi | 42 comments I just realised how the engraving on Sam's grave, one simple word, was Wesley's last blow to Arobynn. Arobynn had everything that Sam didn't and he loved the power that came with that fact. The one thing he didn't have, the thing he'd lost when he killed Sam, was love. When he lost Celaena's love, he really didn't have anyone who cared for him as a person. Sam on the other hand was loved by his mother, Wesley, Celaena and maybe even Ben. All the people who might have been able to love Arobynn. His cruelty had probably cost him all of them. So it's fitting that Sam's gravestone is marked as "Beloved" when he was so many other things.

message 116: by Roisin (new)

Roisin Whelan (xroannax) | 2 comments Wow, that's amazing. Wesley was such a cool guy :'(

It's true about Arobynn. It's funny how ironic the whole situation played out for him. He did have everything and when that wasn't enough, the only thing he wanted was power. And that hunger for it ultimately lead to his death and destroyed any possible relationship he had with someone who may have cared for him.

In the end, while he may have had the upper hand for nearly the entire series so far, it all came crashing down when the people closest to him found out about the horrible things he'd done to make him come out on top. And when they did, his cunning ways were exposed and he lost everything relationship wise.

It makes me laugh how by all the things he'd done to Aelin made her leave him and how bloody lonely he would've been without Sam, Aelin and Wesley the past two years shit went down.

So all in all, he lost at the game he was trying so hard to win. And that makes all of the pain incredibly worth it.

Theeshi | 42 comments Yeah, I really hope we get to see flashbacks of them :) or even short stories

message 118: by Serena (new)

Serena | 160 comments I was actually pretty disappointed when Arobynn was killed that easily. Like Lysandra said, I too regret him not being able to suffer and see that for once, he was the one being betrayed instead of him betraying some one else.

At first though, I thought he would've caught onto Aelin's plans and put a dummy or an innocent person in his bed whom she would've killed and then when Lysandra actually did kill him, I thought it was too easy and he must've deceived her and still be alive somehow.
Then when I realized he actually was dead, I had a little dance party in my room. I was jumping around in my room and on my bed waving my arms in the air and looking like a maniac because I was so happy he finally died.

I agree though that it made more sense for Lysandra to kill him even though I think Aelin should've been the one. If Aelin went to kill Arobynn and something had gone wrong, then Tern, Harding, and Mullin would've known she probably also changed his will. Plus if she didn't kill him it would be easier to convince them that she was innocent.

message 119: by Abbey (new)

Abbey (ash12) | 52 comments Finally he's dead!
Who is the next king of assassins?
Does that role fall to tern or Harding or Mullin or does Aelin get to be queen of assassins?

message 120: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments @Ash, Aelin actually sold the assassin's keep to the assassins the lands too. And she actually couldn't be Queen of assassins because she's Queen of Terresen, also she is no longer Celeana Sarthothien (sorry of I misspell the name). Now she is Aelin Ashryver Galathynius and she would not be afraid!

message 121: by Abbey (new)

Abbey (ash12) | 52 comments @Natalia
but which assassin would it be?
they'll probably all start killing each other

message 122: by Taylor (new)

Taylor | 154 comments Maybe the assassins decided that they were comfortable (money-wise of course) and "retired" from being assassins ? If that is possible, because now that Dorian is ruling Adarlan in a right way, do you think there will be much assassins going around you know.... Assassinating people ?

message 123: by Abbey (new)

Abbey (ash12) | 52 comments Maybe they'll all kill each other and when somebody finally looks in the house they'll be skeletons

message 124: by Abbey (new)

Abbey (ash12) | 52 comments But there will probably be a crime lord

message 125: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Maybe Tern, Harding and Mullin will be like, joint leaders or something. Or all the assassins will kind of work together and share it. Or the Keep will be completely wiped out? I dunno. I honestly I thought Aelin would burnit to the ground when she got her magic back.

message 126: by Burntpopcorn2 (new)

Burntpopcorn2 | 2 comments Okay. But if they made a movie, I can just see Arobynn as being a really really hot actor. I mean I hate him. But I can just picture him like super hot.
