~ Becs ~ (becsisanangel) Hello everyone and thanks for the invite.

I really enjoy a bit of mindfuckery in my reading and I do have a whole shelf dedicated to it here at Goodreads. Hoping to get some good recs here x

Georgia ♥ (georgiapan) | 34 comments Hello everyone! Thank you for the invite!

I'm Georgia, I just turned 26 and I'm from Greece. I have a degree in Chemistry and English, but I'm currently employed at an Internet Company as an account manager!

I'm all for angst and darkness and twists in my reads. I mainly blame Soraya (my lovely Dutch friend) but hell, in my weak moments I admit, I was reading them, well before I meet her!!!!!!

Looking forward to recommendations and group hugs! With these kind of books we are gonna need lots of support!!

message 8: by Purva (new)

Purva Hi all, glad to meet you! :) Thanks for the invite :)

I'm a total sucker for gut wrenching books though i've no idea why i put myself through all the emotional ordeal :D

Iwish | 1 comments Hey, thx for the invite :)
I want to comment or I'll look like a loner :P My name is Jana, I'm 14 years old and live in Australia. I love reading, especially emotional books that stay with you , and books that allow you to think outside the box. I don't read many dark novels, mainly because of my age and to keep my youthful mind innocent for a couple more years :P but I do love reading about them, and reading reviews (weird, I know). That's a little about me :)

And of course you gotta come up with something Bomer-y to spice things up. We gonna need some comfort here and I can't think anything better...

LOVE YA!

So glad you joined!!!! Exactly why this group is created. I don't want to curl in a corner every single time I finish a dark book. We're supposed to rant and scream out in frustration when we finish a particularly disturbing book but if we actually do it in real life people would think we've gone crazy...so, why not do it here?! Lol, Soraya is actually one of the reasons I created this group. I sort of came up with the idea when we were discussing about one particular dark book...can't remember which one though...

Marina (marinas_readingcorner) | 10 comments Yay!Thank you for the invitation:)

Yep, this group will probably keep my sanity intact and put a stop to the emotional blows to poor people they have no reason to be blaimed at :)

I get worried about myself sometimes....it's like, I'll read something that a friend says is really dark, twisted and depressing and I'll just be like, "meh...it's okay..."and they'll look at me like I'm weird...

message 25: by Ellelou (last edited Jan 18, 2013 01:58AM) (new)

Ellelou | 22 comments Hey everyone, I'm ellelou from UK, am a stay at home mum at the moment, have worked in investment Banking since I can remember (well since finished Uni really) and has to give it all up since my daughter started school...sigh....living away from family is not easy when it comes to support and finding a part time work or even working from home is nearly impossible...so I fill the days with reading and escaping in alternative worlds...
Since reading Twilights few years back have found a love of YA books, PRN and Urban Fantasy....
I love books that evoke strong emotions in me, being sad, happy, angry....
In my opinion a books that makes me think about it for days after I finish, and even though I might not like the ending is a good book.
I have been upset and angry in the past when things didn't go the way I would have liked it but have reached the conclusion that not everything is perfect in real life....

I hate it when the authors input unnecessary drama or weak love triangles in their stories just because...so they can fill pages ....

That's all for now...it has been snowing here since this morning and I might venture out and play with snowballs...maybe...

I definitely agree. But they probably don't know what "dark" is, because some of the "dark" books I've been recommended are tame in my opinion, romance wrapped up with a thin veil of grey.

message 27: by gortina (new)

gortina (thesunshinee) | 1 comments Heyyy! I'm Kristina. I love reading. I'm 21 and a nursing student studying in the Philippines. I love all types of books, but mostly the ones that make me angry or upset. When I'm not reading or working, I love to write. Nothing important but I make all my friends read it. Apparently, they think it's great.

Anyways, I'll be writing a lot about how I feel about the books I read. I have a lot of emotions! :)

message 28: by Airah ♔ (new)

Airah ♔ (airah) Hello everyone! A big thanks to Soraya for inviting me.

Anyway, I'm Airah, 23 y/o nurse from the Philippines. Used to be a pediatric nurse. Then just recently rotated to adult care. I'm just grateful I still have time reading even after those crazy hospital shifts. Just when you think I'm tired enough, still gotta love me some emotional reads. Though I read fluffy books too once in a while. Just to balance it all. ;)

David - proud Gleeman in Branwen's adventuring party | 1 comments Thanks for the invite, Soraya! :)

I'm Dave, a 39-year old accountant from the US. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies to escape from the doldrums of my job...turns out accounting is not the exciting, boisterous career the movies would have you believe it is! ;) I also enjoy creative writing as well, so hopefully some day you'll be reviewing one of my books on GoodReads!

I often kick myself after reading a depressing book, but I can't deny that the books that often leave me feeling the most sad are also the most powerful. Right now I'm still recovering from Philip K. Dick's heartbreaking but sublime "A Scanner Darkly"!

message 31: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Hey everyone and thanks Soraya for the invite. I'm Sarah, I'm 32yr old full time mum of 2 from the UK. When I'm not changing nappies, or playing with play dough I am a complete book worm and love really angsty books, anything that gets me all emotional and involved with the characters.....oh and throw in some super hot men and I'm a goner! ;D

Linda (un)Conventional Bookworms (linda_unconventional_bookworms) | 7 comments Hello everyone :) Thank you for inviting me Soraya! I'm Lexxie, almost 42, Norwegian living in Switzerland. I am married with four kids, and decided two years ago I finally found out what I wanted to be when I grow up, so I left my job as an accountant and started a Bachelor in English language and literature, and French as foreign language to become a teacher.

I love reading, and I'm an emotional reader, it seems. My reviews reflect how I felt while reading a book, and then, I add in some stuff about the writing, because it only seems fair to mention that as well :)

I look forward to getting to know you all, and to share our love for sad/emotional books.

I am a mom of 2 teenagers and 1 college age kid, so I read for stress relief;) I live for the heartbreak angst and sometimes the darker romances, but with eventual HEAs. Captive in the Dark and Consequences were two darker series that I just loved, but that were way off my beaten path.

Allison ❤️Will Never Conquer Her TBR❤️ (allipalk) Hello. I see a lot of familiar avatars here. I'm Allison. I'm 42 years old and from the US. Love reading all kinds of romance and erotica. I especially favor books that give me a total WTF crazy feeling. Mind fuckery is my favorite! Doesn't have to be mushy...just elicit emotions (good bad or ugly) and I will love it. Thanks so much Soraya for the invite!! I'm sure i'll feel at home with this group :D

Anyway,I'm Joana. I'm 25 years old and i'm from Portugal, more specifically from Lisbon. Anyone ever visited it?
I'm still studying (biochemistry) so books are the perfect escape. I couldn't live in a world without books(and music, lol). When i read i'm in what i love to call my personal bubble of joy, although when they are full of angst and heartbreak, the bubble burst and i'm left out sobbing like a fool.
Yep, my name is Joana and it seems i'm a masochist reader. The last book that i read and left me broken was Forbidden.

Looking forward to chat with all of you, to rant and to discover new amazing book.
