The Bone Collector question

I was disappointed Thom's character was written out of the movie as well. Was it because of bias or simple Hollywood tomfoolery? We may never know, but I did enjoy Denzel Washington as Lincoln Rhymes. I'd like to see him in that role again.

I just read this book and was looking forward to watching the movie. No Thom???? he is a main character that made the book also. So they changed it to a female nurse, interesting. Was gay a huge issue when the movie was created, possibly.

They changed a lot of the names / characters in the movie - not just Thom changing to Thelma. I was disappointed when I watched it. I also thought Denzel was too nice in the role. Rhymes is hostile to everyone in the first book.

I wondered the same thing when I saw the movie. I was so excited to see it after reading the book but was wondering about a lot of changes they made. Even Amelia's last name was different in the movie Donaghy vs. Sachs). Sellitto's first name was Paulie in the movie instead of Lon....lots of odd changes. Didn't make sense to me to change the plot let alone the characters.
