A longshot but...The Diary

Kind of a longshot, but if it's more of a children's/YA book, it might be The Dollhouse Murders, by Betty Ren Wright. When they were young, the sisters' aunt and father kind of witnessed the murder of their parents (the sisters' grandparents). The murder either went unsolved or was solved incorrectly, and the titular dollhouse is haunted by a spirit that's attempting to let the aunt know who really murdered her parents. The sisters keep visiting the dollhouse in the attic until they can find out what really happened.
