Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments My challenge this year (other than my 100 books GR challenge) is to read all the books I have already, both hard copy and what is on my Kindle, and not purchase anymore until I am done.

I do have one caveat though, I will still be buying the next books in a couple of series that I am in the middle of already, because I NEED to know what happens! :-)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Go Lindsay! I look forward to you doing this. It might inspire me to do it too ;)

Kath | 1233 comments Looks like there are a few of us "mopping up" with allowances for series, Lindsay :)

Good luck with the Challenge Lindsay - and don't forget to snaffle up any good bargains in sales that you want cos imo that should be allowed too :)

I will be trying to do a review for each of the books on my kindle as they are indie authors. And I will update this thread with a link to the reviews

message 7: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Thanks Lorraine

message 8: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I've got really lax in my reviews. I need to start doing them again

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I've got a load of reviews to catch up with as well!

message 10: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments I only review indie books now, I dint bother with the trad published

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Rock on, Lindsay!

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 7663 comments Lindsay wrote: "I only review indie books now, I dint bother with the trad published"

I'm a fraidy cat, I normally only review trad published works.

message 14: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments I don't give bad reviews, but I am always honest.

message 15: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I review everything. I thinking only reviewing indies is a bit horrible to be honest. Are you saying that those trad published authors didn't work hard to make their book good too? Should be penalise them for making it further than someone we may know?

message 16: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments No of course not, I just have a limited amount of time, so I figure that the traditionally published authors have people pushing their book and getting it out there, but indie authors don't so I try to give them a helping hand if I can. If I had time to I would review everything, but life always gets in the way.

message 17: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Oh man, now I feel really guilty like I have been stiffing authors.

:-(

message 18: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Sorry! Didn't mean to make you feel bad!

I just really dislike this idea of the indies deserve more. They don't. Every author should be treated the same!

Sore point -.-

message 19: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Just did a quick tot up of my books in regards to this challenge.

110 books on my Kindle
20 Hard Copy books

Going to be a busy year!

message 20: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments ooo! only 110 books on your Kindle?

That seems so little compared to me *eep*!!!

message 21: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I currently have 158 on my kindle. I won't mention my archive though

message 22: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments my kindle is at.........*checks*

566 but that includes a pile of fic. so books, i'd say 375?

message 23: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Is that including your archive books?

message 24: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I have about 320 on mine with only 8 in my archive!!

message 25: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments seriously?!

i have 78 in my Archive which is exactly how many books I've read 100% of on my Kindles.

I have a pile of half finished or hated books still on my kindle because i refuse to put them in the archive as i want my archive to show only finished books

#crazyocdperson

message 26: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I have 114 in my 'read' folder on the kindle

message 27: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments i don't really see a point of keeping my read books on my kindle given the fact i have never re-read a book in my life apart from harry potter.. (on purpose anyway)

message 28: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I don't like to archive them, feels like I am throwing them out and I very rarely throw out or give away DTB's!!

message 29: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments LOL! I treat my archive like a dusty old book shelf that no-one looks at anymore but are still there xD

message 31: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I'm the same as you Emma, I have a read folder on my kindle. My archive now holds all the books I have bought on my previous kindles whether read or not.

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments I have had my Kindle for less than a year, i currently have 54 in my archive.

Poor DD, My girlfriend kept "borrowing" my kindle so her mum bought her one for christmas this year. Now it is mine, ALL MINE!!!!! MWahhahahahahahahahahahah.........

Sorry about that. I get carried away.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Okay, this is embarrassing.

Lol!

Do you call it 'My precious' as well, Lindsay???

message 39: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments I just call it mine!

Mine, mine, mine,

message 40: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I used to have a pile like that Patti but I barely have any free books left on my Kindle anymore (unless it's a classic or 'our' author)

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12605 comments Louise-Lesley (Elle) wrote: "LOL! I treat my archive like a dusty old book shelf that no-one looks at anymore but are still there xD"

I do, I read, then archive, as I have too many books to re-read any. I don't want to look at how many are on the kindle though. I have even been really good, and putting the paperbacks I am finishing in the charity pile (mind you, they were donated to the charity, and I thought I would 'check them out') - I dont' have any bookcase space left, and I refuse to buy a 5th.

message 42: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I only have one box of old DTB's now! it's a big box but still, only a box! I donated everything else when i got my kindle, much to my mothers delight

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12605 comments Wow! My boss suggested I got rid of some books, I nearly hit him. I have some books that Took years to find and aren't on kindle

message 44: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I haven't had that problem being quite young you see. I spent most of my younger years reading library books and when I did buy books it was cheap from Amazon and they were ALL series PNR/UF books that are easily found again. I only kept my old book collection (which is rather small until I find a proper place to store them), my Harry Potters and some reference books.

message 45: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Hi all,

A quick update.

I have re-read all the Harry Potters.

Books from my kindle:

The Fire Mage by John Forrester - review pending. Great book I definitely recommend it and will b getting the next book in the series.

Soulkeepers by G P Ching - another good book, review forthcoming. Best thing is this Is free, well worth having a look at if you are in to fantasy.

Spirit Chronicles by NW Gould - This book was atrocious. I will try to write a review but I don't know if I even want to give it that much time.

The Wizard's Tale by Kirk Hisko - This book was so disappointing. The premise was brilliant bit it was poorly executed. Needed a bit more refining before being released I think. It is not on GR so
Can't review

Apologies for not putting links, I am on my phoneand it takes an age. I will update with proper links when I get home tonight.
