I have a blog, but haven't been able to update it in months... any book-related news is posted on my homepage and Twitter feed: www.jessicaingold.webs.com

Angela (angelayd) | 14 comments I enjoyed looking at everyone's websites. Each one had something fun and unique.

I really liked how you had a shopping bag set up, Ellen, and it seemed so easy to order. How did you set that up?

Unfortunately, Jessica, I couldn't open yours. I got an error message instead. Do you have another link?

My sites:

http://www.angeladorsey.com/ - my juvenile writing
http://ponybooks.com/ - my publishing company
http://aydorsey.com/ - my non-juvenile writing

Let me know what you think!

Ellen | 7 comments Angela: The shopping cart just went live today. I had been using a paypal shopping cart but it was very limited in what it could do (no coupons, etc.). We tried to jury-rig a way around that (with paypal) and it worked but customers were hesitant to use it. This one is from ecwid.com and it was very easy to set-up. 10 items or less, with no bells/whistles (that means no coupons) is free. I opted for the 11 - 100 items for $15/month. Hopefully it'll be more attractive to buyers.

Hi Angela,

Hmm, that's strange. I'll try posting it straight from the search bar instead: http://jessicaingold.webs.com/

Let me know if that works,

Jessica

Brittney (brittney_joy) | 3 comments So, I am actually looking into creating a website. Any suggestions for an easy-to-use website builder??

message 10: by Brittney (new)

Brittney (brittney_joy) | 3 comments Right now, my book (Red Rock Ranch) is available through Amazon, but I'd really like to create a fun, horsie website to help showcase the book and its characters...website builder suggestions welcome!

Red Rock Ranch, young adult fiction:
http://www.amazon.com/Red-Rock-Ranch-...

"Sixteen year old Lucy Rose is spending her first summer away from home and she has two things on her mind: an abandoned, violent horse and a blue-eyed cowboy. Only neither is hers."

Hi Brittney, I'm so happy you've joined us. I'm probably not the best one to point you in a website direction. Currently just using a self-hosted Wordpress weblog, but I need to re-think things soon.

Ciao Bella!

I used two designers for my sites. One is Pondside Digital Media at http://www.pondside.com/ - they did my first site, the Angela Dorsey one, and they've been around a while. They started with horse websites, so they know horses, plus you get free advertising on one of their other sites. The second is Earthword Creative at http://www.earthwordcreative.com/ - she did my last two sites, the aydorsey site and the enchanted pony site in case you want to have a look. She's easy to work with, plus more affordable than Pondside. I recommend them both.

Brittney (brittney_joy) | 3 comments Thank you for the website suggestions! I actually had a friend suggest squarespace.com to create my website and it is awesome! I think it created a very professional looking website and it was easy to learn. Also, very affordable-- $8 per month if you pay for a whole year.

Anyhow, I just finished it up today... :)

L.B. Shire (lbshire) | 7 comments Hi, my website is http://www.lbshire.com/. I write both YA and Adult novels and try to keep my website neutral. If there is a post that contains material that may contain adult topics not appropriate for younger kids, I make that clear in the title. Stop by and say hi!

Laura Wolfe | 10 comments Hi fellow horse writers,
I'm seeking recommendations for YA thriller/mystery novels that involve horses and have been recently published (within the last 5 years). Have you written one? Or read a good one recently? Please stop by my blog and add your title to the comments under my most recent post. Thanks! www.rockinghorsewriting.com.

Angela (angelayd) | 14 comments Laura wrote: "I'm seeking recommendations for YA thriller/mystery novels that involve horses and have been recently published (within the last 5 years). Have you written one?"

Hey Laura, I've written a 9 book series (Whinnies on the Wind) that has an underlying mystery, but the individual books are probably more adventure with mystery elements (not thriller) - so they don't sound like what you're writing. My first book (Freedom) is probably my scariest and most mysterious, but it was published more than five years ago.

I read your blogpost and commend you on your approach. Reading writers you enjoy is a great way to learn. Just don't compare their books to your first draft and get discouraged! Remember their books have been rewritten many times and have had numerous editors go over them.

Books on craft are good too. One of my favorites is "Writing Fiction" by Janet Burroway, and "Self-Editing for Fiction Writers" by Renni Browne and Dave King is really excellent as well.

Best wishes on your writing journey!

Angela

Wow! Thanks, Anne. I just checked your page. I decided a long time ago not to try to keep my horse at home, but when I was younger, owning my own farm was a great dream--never realized. Your books take me back! I'll check out your FB page.

Carly Kade (carlykadecreative) | 19 comments Hi There! I'm Carly Kade and I am so excited to find this great group on GoodReads. I write for all the women like me … horse crazy, book crazy, cowboy crazy.

However, before I am a writer, I am a reader. I know what it feels like to fall for the leading man whose image I’ve imagined as I turned the pages of a really good book. Generating that kind of feeling was the goal for me – what I wanted to create for the readers of my story.

My new novel ‎In The Reins‬ is based in modern cowgirl culture for readers who love horses, a smokin' hot leading man & an engaging romance. It's available now in Paperback and eBook on Amazon, Barnes & Noble & Kobo.

Visit CarlyKadeCreative.com today to watch the book trailer or visit my Carly Kade author page on GoodReads for more information. Thank You!

Grace Anthony (anthonybooks) I'm an indie author of a horse book for horse-loving girls. Moonfeather is about a mare who has to travel to the mountains to find her herd. Along the way, she meets Storm, a rogue stallion, and they brave wolves, rivers, and avalanches to find their herd.
I'd love a few reviews. If you're willing, I'll email my book to you for free.
I don't have a website, but my goodreads author page is here: Grace Anthony
Thanks for your help!

I've reviewed books by Natalie Keller Reinert, Bev Pettersen, Damien Boyd, Kit Ehrman, Mark Saha, Katharina Marcus, and Clare O'Beara. Let me know if you agree with my reviews!

Would you review my short story? I'll send you a free copy in exchange.

Virginia Anderson (vanderso) | 17 comments Virginia Anderson
I've got new covers for my racing mystery/suspense novels King of the Roses and Blood Lies. I haven't uploaded them to Amazon yet, so they won't show up on Goodreads for a while, but you can let me know what you think at www.virginiasanderson.com. I liked the originals (and my own edit for Blood Lies), but the new ones are professionally done and show up a lot better in thumbnails. I have others I plan to use for the paperbacks when I finally reach that point!
I'd love to know what you think!
