Michelle Ilenich I just finished the book and wanted to look at discussions on it, but i couldnt find one for this book. So i decided to make one. I just wanted to hear your thoughts about the book- what happened, the characters, the gut wretching ending. i was also woundering about something they mentioned in the book. she said something about how her parents got another Ruby, i dont understand at all. cna someone explain?

Daisy97 Zajicek So this book is good? I really want to read it!

Michelle Ilenich I think that somehow in the 2nd book, they will cross paths and she will somehow give his memory back. remember when she accidentally gave Liam the memory of her being (practically) mind raped? i think she will somehow figure out a way to do it, either on accident or on purpose. its also possable her parents had another daughter and named her Ruby.

Michelle Ilenich Daisy97 wrote: "So this book is good? I really want to read it!"

yes. this book is freaking EPIC! i loved it completly and utterly.

deeza45 omg i love the book and i was so sad that she took his memories. i hope he gets it back in the 2nd book or something. can't wait for the 2nd book

Suzanne The other Ruby was her grandmother. She was named after her and her grandmother moved back in with her parents when she left.

i loved it, loved it, loved it, loved it. Except for the ending. That made me want to jump off a cliff

Anna I think I seriously need the next book -- that's what I think! I can NOT just read an ending like that and be expected to move on with my life! It was just . . .so . . . good. So good. And now I feel like all the books I read after it are just meh.

Michelle Ilenich Suzanne wrote: "The other Ruby was her grandmother. She was named after her and her grandmother moved back in with her parents when she left."

Wow, thank you. That makes a lot of sense.

Erin M. The Darkest Minds was such a good book! I just finished it today and don't think I can live without the next book... Until December :(

Cool! I really wanted to read it, but first wanted some assurance that it would be worth the money...

Jay The darkest minds was amazing

The thing I liked most about the book (other than the love story (: ) is how Ruby and all of the other teens were affected directly by the disease. It's not like The Hunger Games, Divergent, etc., where the war/uprising/disease happened a few generations or 100+ years before the book takes place. Everyone in TDM had plans and a future. Like when Liam tells Ruby their 'amazing story of us' *sniff sniff* , its so... normal , like what normal teenagers should be doing. Also, I refuse to believe that this is the end of their story. They have to be together!!!

Sidra Umair Michelle wrote: "I just finished the book and wanted to look at discussions on it, but i couldnt find one for this book. So i decided to make one. I just wanted to hear your thoughts about the book- what happened, ..."

i don't understand either. Her parent forgot her completely, and now they replaced her? And as for Liam, I am hopping he crosses path with Zu who might ask him about Ruby. Loved the book, can't wait for book 2.

Maddie Tiare This book was amazing, and if anyone is considering reading it they should!

I'm hoping that the title of the next book (Never Fade) is referring to memories never fading!

Sidra Umair I hope so.

Maddie Tiare About her parents getting another Ruby, I think she was named after her grandma, and when she left her parents started taking care of her grandma (who was another Ruby) but I'm not 100% sure.

Michelle Ilenich I've been thinking, wouldn't Rubys grandma remember her? Because she only stole the memories from her parents and not her grandma.

Maddie Tiare I think her grandma does remember her, which is why she wants to go and find her grandma.

Natasha I thought the book was tragic and simple, but was beautiful on its own. Making the right choice even though it is difficult? lovely. A loss of innocence and the untimely embracing of maturity? great. there are so many great things about this book, and I don't think it needs a sequel.

I feel like consequences need to be solidly tragic.

Caraline ohmygod I loved this book- but then I got to the end, and felt like I was run over with a truck! WHY RUBY, WHY??? I loved Liam, he loved you, and you loved him!! What you did was so valiant, but so freakin sad! And when Liam was tellin her their "story", I was crying, because I was afraid about what she was gonna do...and then she did it :( cant wait for #2. And Chubs!! I love Chubs!! Eeeew Clancy I hate you!!
Question: Did she erase Chubs from his memory? I didn't quite get that...

How do we go from a great title to a title that is similar to every other YA love story. I am kind of disapointed with it.

She altered Laims memories about Chubs. Liam thinks Chubs is with his family.

Yeah, I agree, I am a little disappointed with Never Fade being the title, but the author said (on tumblr) that its supposed to make a sentence. "The Darkest Minds Never Fade..." and then the last book will finish the sentence.

message 25: by Mary (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mary oh okay thank you for that. That is pretty cool. Still not one of my avorite titles though.

Jacqueline The author just let out the synopsis for the second book, and I'm seriously scared, i don't think my heart can take this...

Caraline ahhh really!!?? ohmygod where??!!

Yep! Ruby has strange powers and she accidentally makes her parents forget she existed! She falls in love with liam and in the end she makes liam forget she existed because they couldn't be together!

I hope this helped!

aw I love the title and that's such a nice quote!

Tyler I think this book was good, but it wasn't totally, insanely magnificent. I knew where the plot twists were going before they happened, like *SPOILER* Clancy was the slip kid and Liam's memory of Ruby would be erased. I mean, yeah, I still got emotional, but it wasn't anything I didn't know would happen. Plus, some of the writing got on my nerves, especially at the beginning of the book. In the end, I DO like this book and I will absolutely buy the sequel. :) I love Liam, but I like Clancy too. (Not for Ruby though, obviously.) Except for the mind rape thing. Oh no. H*ll no. Was I the only one like WTF, is anyone going to do anything about this?!

Yeah, I found the mind raping extremely creepy and disturbing. I wanted to punch Clancys face in.

Seriously, so did I!! Ugh. UGH.

Heaven is a bookstore I LOVED THIS BOOK! Such a surprise when I didn't even have this book on my radar. I just picked it up off the bookshelf. I loved the premise - so different!

Robin (Bridge Four) I loved this book. I read it when it became the first book of the month on hypable. I will say that yes a few things I figured out early on but still the way the story was told was so riveting that I was still completely engaged in the story waiting for it to come to fruition.
Liam, is the boyfriend every girl wants and should wait for, patient kind gentile perfect for Ruby. I liked how there little love story was not all at once and just grew. Also each did their own things throughout the book. She didn’t sit there pining for him the whole time after they got to the slip kid. I enjoyed the supporting characters too Zu and Chubs…..ah Chubs. Clancy was such a good bad guy I mean WTF he really showed how someone with that kind of power could totally be corrupt.
Just read the teaser for Never Fade and I really can’t wait to see how this story plays out.

I totally agree with you.
Liam- ohmygod I love him
Zu and Chubs- ohmygod I love you too
Clancy- ahh I love hating you

where'd u find the teaser for never fade???
thx

Ashleigh Everyone loves Liam but I love Chubs! He's just perfect for me! But I love Liam to!

NEVER FADE flap copy

It’s my birthday, so I thought I’d share something awesome. How about the official flap copy for NEVER FADE?

Ruby never asked for the abilities that almost cost her her life. Now she must call upon them on a daily basis, leading dangerous missions to bring down a corrupt government and breaking into the minds of her enemies. Other kids in the Children’s League call Ruby “Leader”, but she knows what she really is: a monster.

When Ruby is entrusted with an explosive secret, she must embark on her most dangerous mission yet: leaving the Children’s League behind. Crucial information about the disease that killed most of America’s children—and turned Ruby and the others who lived into feared and hated outcasts—has survived every attempt to destroy it. But the truth is only saved in one place: a flashdrive in the hands of Liam Stewart, the boy Ruby once believed was her future—and who now wouldn’t recognize her.

As Ruby sets out across a desperate, lawless country to find Liam—and answers about the catastrophe that has ripped both her life and America apart—she is torn between old friends and the promise she made to serve the League. Ruby will do anything to protect the people she loves. But what if winning the war means losing herself?

to be released 11/5/13

WHY IS NOVEMBER SO FAR AWAY?! TT_TT And did Liam always have the flash drive? Or do you think he probably acquired it sometime after he and Ruby parted ways?

Karla I'm so excited for this. TDM was one of my favourite books of 2012, and after that ending, I am counting down the days until book two (view spoiler)

Ashleigh I already pre ordered the next book in hard cover! Why is November so far!

Vivid Light ~ ♥♥ I have the same name spelt same way as the commenter above me, just thought I'd add that.

Rachel (APCB Reviews) I. Loved. It. The book was a little hard to get into at first, but after the first 100 pages, I was hooked. Liam sounds so cute and amazing. Ruby has awesome powers. I love Chubs and how fiercely protective he is. I hope Zu comes back! The ending had me crying my eyes out.

jabot Burton this is one of the best books I've ever read on my life. i cant wait to add it to my collection. i wish that the next one would hurry up though. (no pressure though). :)
