Yeah. I should thank you for getting me back into that manga with all its tragic feels. NOT.

Yes, so much tragic feelz. hug all the characters. because you never know when they're gonna be gone.

I know what cosmology is. It's the study of the cosmos! :)
Have a favorite constellation? Mine is Orion...easy to find, middle of the sky during my birthday, and on clear nights you can actually see the nebula in it!
Hmmm, I don't know if I could pick a favorite, although I've always been a bit partial to Orion. Hunters are just cool. Leah, I have not read that book! I'll look into it!
I'm currently working on finishing "Forbidden Science." Some of it is fringe science (telepathy and so forth) but some of it is simply science rejected by academia. So it's an interesting collection.
Finished one I've been working on called "The Flirt" by Booth Tarkington. Definitely not a formula plot...it was my first of his books, and I really enjoyed his writing style.Still at work on three others I'm halfway done with...
I'm reading The Missing series by Margaret Peterson Haddix. My sister said it was better than The Shadow Children, and I think I agree with her. I just wish the last two books were published already.
I've finished xxxHolic and Tsubasa. 100% recommend these series. Amazing. (Yes, you can get lost in the plot twists in Tsubasa but I really am attached to these characters so it didn't matter anymore.) It's definitely worth the work to read it. Also, still hungry for Japanese food thanks to xxxHolic.
(Hey look, it's three of the main characters' birthdays! Yay!)
Just finished "Hansel and Gretel" by Cynthia Rylant for my children's theatre class... I'm currently re-reading the Nancy Drew novel "The Hidden Staircase" by Carolyn Keene for my children's literature class. Hopefully I'll get started on "Five Days in Skye" by Carla Laureano soon (I need to finish it by the end of the month for a book judging thing).
I am currently reading too many books at once:"American Heroes: in the fight against radical Islam" by Oliver North
"Emma" by Jane Austen
"Resistance" by Jaye L. Knight (ARC)
"The Malformation of Healthcare" by Erin Havel
And now I will probably be adding a mystery or two to the mix at some point this month. Thanks, Aubrey! :P
I went to the library and picked up:'Legend' by Marie Lu
'Swift' by RJ Anderson
'Legions of the Eagle' and 'The Silver Branch' by Rosemary Sutcliffe.
I've been rereading when I've been reading at all recently, but hopefully these books, which are manageably short, will provide some relief from school work. I'm almost done with Legend already.
You're welcome!
Legend is one of the many dystopian titles on my eventual to-read list...

It's pretty good. I'm not a big fan of romance subplots, but it was relatively well done. There were things about the book I would have done differently, but on the whole it was good. Can't decide which of the others to read next. Probably The Silver Branch as it's shortest and my schoolbag is very full these days... I'll wait for the holidays to read anything longer.
I finally obtained an iPod to replace my dead one, and I started listening to "The Fault in Our Stars." I haven't made it very far yet, but it's... an interesting book. Hopefully it lives up to the good things I've heard about it.
I just finished Cress by Marissa Meyer ... well, I read the whole thing this morning. Other things I have from the library at present which I haven't read yet:The Silver Branch
Swift
Silent Saturday
and another book called "The Dream of the Celt" which didn't come up when I searched for it on Goodreads so I'll probably need to add it, and that's a bit weird. Picked it up on a whim from the Quick Choice stand -- rebellion/revolution, being exposed as gay when it's illegal etc ... seemed like it would be right up my street.
We interrupt this program to scream rather wildly that the Supervillain of the Day Season One Omnibus is now on Amazon and everyone should go check it out. http://www.amazon.com/Supervillain-Da...No really, you should. And then you should buy it, and read it, and count it as seven books. >:D (No, really. Six for the individual books, and then seven for the bonus material.)
And then review it and enter my giveaway: http://supervillainoftheday.com/relea...

I read "The Sherwood Ring" which was lame, and I'm not sure what to tackle next. Technically "Earth in Upheaval" is on the schedule, but (ironically) I'm in the mood for some mystery. Maybe it's all this mystery stuff I've been writing?
I guess I should have said what they are... retreading The Beekkeeper's Apprentice, one of my favorites, and finally reading its sequel Monstrous Regiment of Women.
Yay for Katie! :D ^_^ And Floyd! Although I doubt he's entirely thrilled.I finished Son of Neptune yesterday and started Mark of Athena. Just a few more Riordan books left, then I can finish the Divergent trilogy.
Currently working on The Connected Child: Bring Hope and Healing to Your Adoptive Family. I know. I read weird books for a teenager.
I'm reading the sequel to Miss Buncle's Book by D.E. Stevenson right now, and so far enjoying it just as much as the first book.
Hey, at least it's good timing to be on a mystery kick, Katie!
And yes. You should all read Katie's books. They are good for padding your total a little bit. I did that last year. (Suppose I could do it again, ha!)

there's a goodreads giveaway up now too! Ya'll are all on goodreads, so you have no excuse not to enter! https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...
Come to think of it, some of your books might sorta count as mysteries, Katie...?
Sort of, yes. Inspector Floyd was intended as a mystery (although it sort of failed at that) and most people say that the first one is definitely mysterious.
I've decided to finish Ouran High School Host Club. It just keeps getting better and better, beyond the anime...
I read "Superhero of the Day" today. I enjoyed the adventure lots. It was really nice to see Floyd after the first season. Now I need Eagle Crash and I'll be happy. ^_^
I'm working on getting more Crash out there, though unfortunately he isn't in the third book. :(I finished A Monstrous Regiment of Women and plan to read Gods & Generals next. I'm excited, since the movie version is my favorite movie ever. :)
Grace wrote: "I'm working on getting more Crash out there, though unfortunately he isn't in the third book. :("D: Aww... I can has August, then? I'd think Aubrey would hunt you down if he wasn't in it. ;)
has anyone ever read the "kingdom heir" books by Chuck black?if so, was there any vulgar language, romance, and/or sexual content?
I've heard that they are supposed to be GREAT Christian books, but just because they are labeled Christian, doesn't mean they are God-glorifying.
Alisha: Kingdom Heir? I've read the Kingdom Series/Knights of Arrethtrae by Chuck Black, and those were all excellent. They're very clean on all points. There is some romance, but it's very light and sweet.Grace: Yay. ^_^ August is adorable. :D
The Kingdom books, at least, are very very sparkling clean. (They also are mis-marketed; the labels do say for teens but they're really written at an 8-12yo level...)
I read the first two Kingdom books, and while they are perfectly clean and have a decent story line, way too much of it is told in summary. It's just my opinion, but they would be much better if they were better written.Grace, do they ever see Elasson again? I loved his character, and want more of him.
Well I share the opinion... you are not alone. Heh. To be fair the two that were written for the second publication (after they were picked up by Zondervan) were better written than the original four. Still not that great.
Grace, you shouldn't tell people there isn't any Crash--you might lose sales just for that! o.O ;)
I've beta read the book, and August is perfectly awesome. *nodsnods* ^_^
I read one of the Chuck Black books, and I agree with the others. The writing was horrendous. Also, some of the theology of the allegory was sketchy. It made the line between spiritual warfare and flesh-and-blood killing too fine for my tastes. Warring against spiritual forces and going out and killing everybody who isn't for Christ are two VERY different things, and the book didn't exactly make it clear which was which!

I know, I know... I worried about that... but I have to be honest! Besides, Crash's biggest moments yet are in book four, so they should keep reading...
O.O Gimme books 3 & 4. Goodness, I think you people enjoy keeping us in suspense. =_= First I hear on Twitter Katie's writing a Silent Night-version of SotD for season 2, now Grace says Crash is in book four. And Aubrey likely has an in so she reads them pre-publishing and hangs that over us. ;) You're all in cahoots, aren't you?
What! How could you accuse us authors of enjoying such a cruel sport, Olivia? *shining picture of innocence*
Because it's true! Do not deny the charges, Miss Hansen! I'm also awaiting that second Red Rain book, too. =_=...
Aaaand maybe because it's something I *coughenjoydoingcough* would do. ;)
I'm reading the Aeneid! I mean, I've read most of it already, for school, but as part of my revision I'm reading the whole thing including the four books we're NOT doing (and the eight we are). I'm four books into it already...

Too busy helping paint our whole house to do too much reading, but I did read a great Kindle Single over the weekend, Operation Cowboy. Finally, the whole story about the rescue of the Lipizzaner horses during WWII.Also been browsing Edith Nesbit's book of children's fantasy short stories, The Magic World, in odd moments. Not quite as good as her full-length fantasies, but "The Princess and the Hedge-Pig" was awfully cute.
