Did anyone make any reading resolutions or goals for 2013?

I don't want to be defined by any resolution imposed by society so my goal is to read more than 0 books
Short answer, no. Longer answer, was ill on New Year's Day so I think my resolutions were restricted to "Don't Drink Milk!"... :P
Last year the only goal I made was the Goodreads challenge with the badge. This year I signed up for it again. But I've gotten excited by some challenges in some of my groups. Right now, I'm signed up in 4. Lord help me!
Stephanie wrote: "Did anyone make any reading resolutions or goals for 2013?"I've joined this and a few other groups here on goodreads to discover new authors and new series this year.
I signed up for the Goodreads challenge again this year - 100 books. Read 107 in 2011 and 103 in 2012 (three reviews didn't get included because I wrote them after December 31st, so I'm sure I can make it again this year.
I have a goal of 50 books this year I've never read mor then 10 or 12 a year just because I don't read everyday.
I'm playing it safe and resolving to read 30 new books this year. I have stacks of books I haven't yet read, plus the VF selections, so I just have to make time to read. I've already read a full book, though, so that's promising!
I signed up for the Goodreads challenge this year and my goal is 100 books. I've been reading more in the last couple of months than I have the rest of last year, so I think I'll be able to reach that goal.
I failed my goal of 52 books for 2012, but my goal is to 52 books for 2013. 52 is going to be my minimum this year, this I swear! Although, lengthy books like Outlander may slow me down a bit...
I'm glad you said something about the Goodreads Challenge. I had no idea. I tend to just log my books on a calendar throughout the year.
I set my goal at 50 for 2013. I read 63 in to 2012, but, I read way more historical romances than I normally do and I can just plow through those.
My resolution right now is 30 books, it's a little on the low side but this is the first year I've done any sort of reading resolution so I didn't want to make it too intense. :P Another I have is reading the main book for vaginal fantasy every month even if the topic isn't to my liking. I love participating in the chats and getting all eager to watch the show and it's so much better when you've read the book!
If you're new to the Goodreads challenge, remember you have to enter the date you read the book at the bottom of the review for it to count. (The first year I did it, I was putting them on my 'read-in-2011' shelf but that didn't count them.

Update Status, mark book as "You're finished" and it will count the books too.
I'm going to try for another 100 books on Goodreads. I want to try to review more, too. I might try to finish reading and reviewing all of the trades that came out after the DC reboot.
I did the Goodreads challenge last year and have signed up again this year - 75 books!! I did 65 last year, but I only joined in May, so I'm pretty sure I can make it.
I did! I have a short list of 12 specific books I want to get to this year and my overall goal is to read 200 books this year. It's been my same goal for the past several years and I usually end up 10-20 over it, so it's totally doable. :)
Okay, I just signed up for 30 books this year, which is totally reasonable for me. (I'm done with stress-inducing resolutions) I'm fairly new to Goodreads, so more than anything this will be a practice in actually logging the books I'm reading.
I am doing the Goodreads one too--last year I just made it. I don't know _what_ made me pick 143 books. I ended up with 145 because I started doing a lot of reading in December. This year it's 100. I use it anyway to keep track of what I've read. I want to try to review more as well. The little "on track" thing annoys me sometimes--"You are 8 books behind." I know I'm behind! ;-)My non related book goal (I usually don't make resolutions--I don't like them and people always seem to set theirs so high they're impossible) is to clean up the monster pile of clothing that has become my storage/dresser/closet for my clothes. That may not sound big, but it's truly a monster pile of clothing. I never bothered to put away my summer clothes this year, so all my shorts and tank tops are in there too, nearer the bottom. I think there may be towels, too, for some reason. For all I know, there could be books in there.
I am doing the Goodreads challenge as well. Since it's my first time doing such a challenge I set the bar low at 20 books. I just recently found Goodreads, so I'm sure I'll be able to far surpass that with all of the great recommendations I've received so far.
Reviewing is the issue for me too. I know I can read my target number, but I've gotten really lazy about writing down what I thought of the book. I've been burnt by so many over-hyped books that I used to feel obligated to write honest reviews since nobody else seemed immune to the marketing campaigns at play.(Good Reads isn't anywhere near as bad as Amazon, but sometimes you read a rubbish book and start wondering if the publishers paid people to give it five stars and positive comments without actually reading the book first).I also re-read some books every year (The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy series, for example), so while GoodReads doesn't have a "repeated reading" option, at least this challenge business has taught me to just change the date of completion to get it into this year's numbers :)
This is the first year I am doing the Goodreads challenge, so I set it at 300 which is slightly more books than I read last year. I'll see how I do.
I have done the goodreads challenge for the past two years. This year I am doing an A to Z one. Basicly you have to read a book with the title starting with A to Z. I almost did it last year all I needed was z and q.

The year I wasn't working (although I was writing) I read 387 books. A lot of them were category romances which I could read in a couple of hours.
C.G. wrote: "I try to comment/review every book. I don't do a synopses, just say why I liked (or not) the book."Me too. Otherwise, I'd never write reviews. I hate reiterating the entire plot.
The reading goal this year is 60 books, I managed 52 last year so it won't be too hard. Other than that I'm hoping to write more (as a hobby) and improve my organisation for uni as well.
I barely made my goal of 200 books for my 2012 Goodreads challenge. This year, I'm trying for 150 books because I'm writing more now.My other goal is to write 1,000 words a day. Someone on Twitter came up with the challenge because of his success with NaNoWriMo. A bunch of us tweet our word count with #DailyK. If you're looking to stay motivated and have support, I recommend it.
I'm trying for 100 this year (last year I only got in 29 XD) so far I've gotten to 20 in the past 16 days. not a bad start.
I'm shooting for 52 this year. I had a goal of 50 last year and managed 64, but I'm not sure I'll have quite as much time to read this year.
I pledged 30 books last year, and didn't even start until April, and managed 39. Made it a nice even 40 this year.I could try to bulldoze more, but then I'm reading for numbers and not reading to be entertained or learn something, which is more important to me.
Plus I know myself and I'd be focused on making sure the books are short (IE low page count or EASY YA) which is cheating.
Although a lot of the books I read are YA, they seem to be 300 - 500 pages in hardback. I also try to read at least one book a month that's non-fiction, just to balance out my other reading.

I'm going to blame it on the fact that I can't ever seem to relate to the main character.
40 books enjoyed is better than 200 books hated. (That be a true waste of time and effort, and not fair to authors and publishers rolling out all those 1-2 stars in the name of my goodreads epeen) But 200 YA books enjoyed. Let me be first in line to clap cause that's amazing! Especially in the digital age we live in with all the "shiny" distractions.
I find as I get older that I allow myself to stop reading a book that I'm not enjoying if I've given it a good chance (several chapters). There are too many books I have to read - some of which haven't even been written yet! - to waste time reading something I can't relate to or with characters I don't want to spend time with.
