To be honest I'm not a fan of the romance in Shadow and Bone. It feels kinda unatural for me. It lacked detail (was that purposefully done), if you read the book then you'll understand. I didn't like Darkling or Mal. I though Mal was a jerk and that Darkling and Alina would NEVER workout. I know how it would appeal to some people (view spoiler). Not for me though.
