Lauren Smith Well, he didn't have to do much this time. And the first thing he said when I mentioned taking another photo was "I don't want to pose!"

Great photos! I will have to do my best and take some photos again to catch up with you. :)

message 57: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Thanks Barbara! Although you don't need to catch up - I just caught up with you! We're both on 8.

I'm reading The Shining Girls and I really want to make a wall full of objects and names to imitate the one that inspires/calls to Harper. Won't be able to get all the props though.

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Oh ok, so I need to get ahead of you again. ;)

Do you need all the props? Aren't a few good enough?

I do have a couple of ideas for a few other books that I need to work out. So I might be taking soem pictures later this week. Just to give you a heads up.

message 59: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith None of the props play an especially big role; the effect is cumulative - a serial killer uses each prop to find one of his victims, and then leaves a different prop on or near her body. I could use one of the more significant props, but they're all a bit too specific so far - an orange and purple My Little Pony, a baseball card, a pair of handmade costume butterfly wings, a black and silver vintage lighter.

The best option is a chewed-up tennis ball; I'll see if someone with a dog can lend me one or give me an old one that I can break. A new one won't do.

Why not print pictures of the pops from the internet and make a wall of that. You can add some pictures of random girls and link them with the props to make it even creepier. A wall of the props wouldn't do since the killer leaves the props so his "souvenir" would be a picture of the prop.

message 61: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith No, pictures of props wouldn't work because there is a room full of the props. He's a time travelling killer, so I think he has two versions of each prop - one that he takes and later places by a body, and an 'atemporal' prop that remains in the room. I think. The room itself is where the time travelling happens. But I'll look at the description of the room again; it might be that I can take a picture of just names on the wall.

I have done my first one!
Hope it looks ok?

Lauren Smith Yep, that's fine. It's a nice simple one!

I think I should do one too; I have an idea for something easy as well. I need to look over my books, I haven't done a photograph for ages.

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Yay!
I thought the scenes would be a bit difficult to pull off, so I went with the cover.

This was fun, I need to do more of these!

message 65: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Lol yeah, for a second I thought about pouring a bucket of red water over my head and quickly changed my mind.

But now I'm thinking I'll take a photo for the first scene with tampons and sanitary pads (clean ones!). Sorry if that grosses anyone out!

Lol just put a warning on the pic :P
I though about something like that, but wasn't sure how I was going to do it. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

message 67: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I've got a pretty clear idea of what I'd like to do, but it's not going to be anything fancy.

message 68: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
I think too fancy might be a problem.

Sounds great Lauren. Can't wait to see it.

I have a photo ready that I can update and a few updates for others. Unfortunately I have to go for easy ones since I don't have many people to help me with scenes.

Lauren Smith My picture for the first scene of Carrie by Stephen King. Slightly edited because I didn't feel like shaving my legs :) http://www.pinterest.com/pin/14144124...
You might not want to click on this if you're very squeamish about menstruation, but rest assured that it's just food colouring...

He is a trooper! Lol love it!

message 76: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Haha, yeah :) He was sitting in the lounge watching a movie and I came in with the bedsheet and cap and said "Please take your clothes off". He didn't even complain despite the fact that that wasn't as exciting as it might have sounded.

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
He sets a good example! Mark needs to start posing for pics!

message 78: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Well, you have one day left to convince him :) You can do the Snowman outfit too, since you read Oryx and Crake.

Ah damn I had so many plans for this challenge, but I completely failed this year :(

message 80: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I did another easy one: Lexicon by Max Barry http://www.pinterest.com/pin/14144124...

The book is about people who are trained to 'hack' minds with words. Every person is classified according to 208 personality types. For each type, there is a set of three words used to hack - or compromise - that mind. As part of her training, the main character is given three slips of paper with the words that can be used to compromise her. She has to practice saying them to build up a resistance to them.

message 81: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Despite initial interest, this wasn't a very popular challenge. I had the most photos and even that was only 13 out a possible 70. So we should we abandon this one? Or would you like to take another shot at it for 2014? if you're still intimidate by this challenge, take a look at the board - many of the pictures are pretty simple.

This year is going to craaazy for me. I would love to participate, but not sure if I actually would end up doing anything :(

message 83: by Rochelle (new)

Rochelle Kleynhans | 36 comments I would LOVE to retry this challenge, last year was absolutely crazy for me, and I only got to do 2 pics. But out of all the challenges this was my favourite one and would love if there was a 2014 one!

message 84: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
I might be a bit late with my response, but I was very hesitant at first because I am not that creative and didn't see myself posing for photo's or ask other people to do that. But I found ways around that and I had lots of plans for other photo's but I was thwarted by my computer and internet. They kept breaking down and that kept me from posting more and I might have beaten you. So I liked this challenge and would participate if we had one again.

message 85: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Sorry, Rochelle, I'm only getting around to this now!

Well, I'll take part as well and I think three people is sufficient. Do you want to make the start date 1 January or should we start on 1 March?

message 86: by Barbara (new)

Barbara | 4434 comments Mod
Make it March 1. I am so behind in updating my books and challenges that it would be easier if I didn't have to do this one too.

message 87: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I'd prefer that too. Also, there are lots of other challenges that start on 1 Jan.
