Nope keep pressing forward. Alot of people like the new change in book 5.

For me she took to much away from what I liked about the series and started into a new plot or theme that was just not as interesting.

Like Darcy said it fell off with me at book 5

Me too I have checked it out like three times now and have not made it past chapter 1. I always seem to find something more interesting.

Oh lucky you.
I have high hopes for that series but yeah book three was like sludge.

How is it going that is the real question :-)

Thethriftybooklady (readingdiva8511) | 109 comments I started Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth but some spoiled the ending of the series for me so that took the wind out of my sails with it. Then I started Phoenix Awakened (The Immortal Choice, #2) by Amanda R. Browning but it's not nearly as good as the first in the series and I can't get into it so I don't think I'm going to keep reading it. But I finally got my hands on Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs from the library so I'm going to read that one. I know I can get into that one.

I swear it's all "I went to Walmart. Then I made toast. Then I checked my email. Then I cleaned up the toast crumbs from the kitchen. Then I wondered what Sam was doing and if he liked toast" Blah, blah, blah, blah.

I'm down to the last 30 mins of the story and I'm so happy about being done that I may just check my email and then lay out in the sun to celebrate. :)

(Ok in all fairness I've been over Sookie for the last 3-4 books so I didn't go into this w/a very good attitude. Not that you can tell from my post right? lol)

Sara | 860 comments I went to our annual library sale and scored! I found a bunch of out of print books that I lost in our house fire a few years ago. Other books were so cheap that I'm willing to give it a try. A few of the later Anita Blake books were there - I was burned very badly when that series took a nosedive but the books were so cheap that I'm going to gird my loins and dive back into the Anita pool - wish me luck!

A few of the highlights:

Polgara the Sorceress (Malloreon) by David Eddings Speak of the Devil (Morgan Kingsley, #4) by Jenna Black Darkness Calls (Hunter Kiss, #2) by Marjorie M. Liu Camber the Heretic (The Legends of the Camber of Culdi, #3) by Katherine Kurtz Embraced By Darkness (Riley Jenson Guardian, #5) by Keri Arthur Besieged (The Outcast Chronicles, #1) by Rowena Cory Daniells The Summer Queen (The Snow Queen Cycle, #3) by Joan D. Vinge The White Dragon (Pern, #3) by Anne McCaffrey The King's Justice (The Histories of King Kelson, #2) by Katherine Kurtz Saint Camber (The Legends of Camber of Culdi, #2) by Katherine Kurtz The Harrowing of Gwynedd (The Heirs of Saint Camber #1) by Katherine Kurtz The Bastard Prince (Heirs of Saint Camber, #3) by Katherine Kurtz Incubus Dreams (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #12) by Laurell K. Hamilton The Vampire Shrink (Kismet Knight, Ph.D., Vampire Psychologist, #1) by Lynda Hilburn Bullet (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #19) by Laurell K. Hamilton Death Warmed Over (Dan Shamble, Zombie PI, #1) by Kevin J. Anderson Flirt (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #18) by Laurell K. Hamilton Skin Trade (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #17) by Laurell K. Hamilton

And many, many more. I also picked up lots of mythology, information, and historical fiction books.

Next Saturday is the last day of the sale and all remaining books are free - otherwise they're are thrown into a dumpster. Don't worry books - I will save you!

Sara | 860 comments Alisa,

I'll let you know how the Vampire Shrink is - It's one I've been eying for a while too.

Sandra,

I'm surprised more libraries don't have these type of sale. Our library makes buckets of money during this sale. Friday was the first, or preview, night of the sale so there was a $1 entrance fee - within the first 15 minutes of opening there was a minimum of a 100 people there. That's $100 right there. Books range from $1 to $3 and no one was leaving empty handed. The library makes money to buy new books/supplies and the general populace scores by gobbling up cheap books. A win-win for everyone involved. The only downside is my sore back muscles from lugging so many books around but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

My library seems to have books sales about every 2 months. I don't think that they charge entrance, but the books are donated, so any money they make is all profit.

I have a bunch of books that I need to donate just to clean up the house, but I never remember until I see the sign for the sale and then it is too late.

message 1830: by Mike (new)

I know what you mean about Anita Blake. Her early works I adore, the later ones kinda 'meh' for me.

This weekend we have a massive book sale of withdrawn stock from the library. They estimated around 4000 books will be on display with nothing above $5. So I've been hunting down all the spare shrapnel in the car and sofa - Yea I'm a tight B!*@h when need be. Which also means that I have to stay well within budget. I've got a terrible, terrible habit of spurging. And after reading your awesome score, I need to sate my paperback hunger :)

I was really pleasantly surprised. I have never been much of an Adam and Mercy fan but in this book it worked for me. I also loved the walking stick. Also was it just me or did anyone else wish Anna would show up??

I also started When She Woke by Hillary Jordan has anyone read this one?? Not to sure how it is going to work out.

So I also picked up Lines of Departure (Frontlines, #2) by Marko Kloos
