What else are you reading? (January 2013)
I just finished reading The Great Gatsby. Loved it!! Now I am reading Happily Ever After by Susan May Warren. When I finish I will pick up another classic. My Goal was 1 classic a month, 1 down :)
I've been working my way through all the Sherlock Holmes cases. I'm also just starting Guernica: A Novel by Dave Boling. I read a sample of it, and HAD to have it.

I was hooked after the first few pages. I'm not done yet, but I'm thinking I'm going to buy it. My copy is on loan from the library.

its good if you like over the top farce. I find it so unlike Lincoln to hastily hunt after and kill anyone he believes to be a vampire. yes, how realistic can it be? it is a book about vampires. but it is kind of surprising to see Abe just wacking away! haha. its a quick enough read though :)
The Final Testament of the Holy Bible by James Frey. I don't like the writing, but the theme is good. This writing though... I wish it was better. It feels like sentences are just being strung together with no thought or consideration.
I am now reading Notorious nineteen by Janet Evanovich, as well as The age of Innocence. I also just started One called the wizard of time by G.L Breedon. I always read more then one book at a time.
Tiffanie wrote: "I'm reading Night Circus and The Lords of the Rings right now."I finished the Night Circus a couple of days ago and I absolutely loved it. Hope you enjoy it as well! :)
I'm reading Someday This Pain Will Be Useful To You by Peter Cameron and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Got this last christmas.
I tend to read one book at one time, so the book that I'm currently reading is the screenplay version (I guess) from Ingmar Bergman's film Scenes from a Marriage. But I've read 3 other books so far this year: Melissa Hill's Something from Tiffany's, Preeti Gupta's I'll Put 3 Chips On God - just in case thete is one, and J.D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye. I know, such a various team :P.

I read about two or three books at time...I always try to choose different subjects to not get confused. For example, now I'm reading one about India (from Amitav Ghosh, reallygood until now!) and rereading The Black and The Red from Stendhal...I would like so much to know french and read the original text!
Nikko wrote: "I'm reading Someday This Pain Will Be Useful To You by Peter Cameron and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Got this last christmas."I started reading Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov.. thought it was a bad choice.. but can't seem to keep the book down..
Shradhanjali wrote: "Im reading Symposium by Plato and The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli.. Symposium is a party reading..."I had to read Plato's Symposium for class. Some parts were entertaining while others were very dry

I started Lolita last year, and then put it down. I can't decide with putting it down was due to a distraction (my outward excuse) or because the plot was making me uncomfortable (there's a where it starts getting a bit far for my liking). But the writing is so beautiful, and it especially amazing as he wrote it in English despite his mothertongue being Russian.
In response to the other topic - I usually have at lease two books on the go, usually of different genres/periods. Currently it's People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks and Anna Karenina on Audiobook.
Nikko wrote: "I'm reading Someday This Pain Will Be Useful To You by Peter Cameron and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. Got this last christmas."I really liked Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You! Have yet to read Lolita sadly.
Right now I am reading Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. I really like it. It's just taking me forever!

I've read Fried Green Tomatoes, and I really enjoyed it. I read it because I love the movie. Obviously they're different from each other, but both are good. I hope you continue to like it.
Done with The Distant Hours by Kate Morton and "I do not come to you by chance" by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani. Both were great books. Will give Wuthering Heights a try
I'm currently totally lost in Two Brothers: A Novel by the quite remarkably talented Ben Elton - utterly brilliant!

I did love it all the way to the end!!
I'm reading Broken: 7 Christian Rules That Every Christian Ought to Break as Often as Possible by Jonathan Fisk.
Karena wrote: "Hexed is so great. Kevin Hearne is the man! He does such a great job with Atticus, Oberon, and the rest of the gang. The series continues to get even better." I finished Hexed a few days ago, and absolutely loved it. Oberon is my favorite character. Give me a good talking dog and I'm happy! I'm really looking forward to learning more about Leif in the next book.
Just finished up Daughter of the Forest and would recommend it highly to any fantasy or fairy-tale lovers. I'm about 50 pages into Cleopatra: A Life and I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's interesting, but the writing seems a bit tangled.
At this time I'm reading number of novellas by F.Scoot Fitgerald and going to finish them today..I liked A Diamond as big as the Ritz it's really fantasic I enjoyed reading it..I have many books to read but I'm going to move to Mrs.Dalloway by Virginia Woolf and so excited to start..
I'm working through Edith Wharton's "The Muse's Tragedy and Other Short Stories." I'm loving it so far. And in conjunction with "Age of Innocence," I'm getting a good feel for her writing style.
I finished The Night Circus a few minutes ago. It was fun, not as great as I'd anticipated from the blurb. Waiting for Life of Pi to come in at the library. Not sure what to read next. I am supposed to be reading The Brothers Karamazov for another group but really don't feel like it... not in the mood for it anymore (and haven't been since before Christmas!).
I finished A Storm of Swords, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Sisters Brothers and Great Expectations, so started Conrad's Heart of Darkness. I'm super excited about reading this one. Also, I plan to read Woman Hollering Creek and Other Stories this month. I plan to start A Feast for Crows, but probably won't finish it until February.
This month has been Cloud Atlas, The Diamond Age, and Robots and Empire. Might have time to read another one too, but I can't imagine which atm.
I'm enjoying American Gods right now. My first Neil Gaiman novel. Lots of fun. I am also sort of reading Fool Moon when I can tear my attention away from AG. I am about to start either The Sound and the Fury or The Catcher in the Rye, but I can't decide which.
Along with the Egyptian classic literature , I started The Zahir by Paulo Coelho, as part of my around the world tour. I'm only 20 pages through, so I can't make up my mind about it yet. Though it's my third book by Coelho, and I admit he hasn't failed me in any of them.

It is my second Gaiman book since I read "The Graveyard Book" with my son a while back. I am enjoying it but it is not an easy read, that is for sure.
I am reading The Night Circus (mp3), The Nose (mp3), Oscar and Lucinda(kindle), the White Guard, the Aeneid (Kotlyarevskiy in Ukrainian, not Virgil)... depends on my mood which one i read, i like to have choice :)
Erin wrote: "I am reading Pride and Prejudice; I am really enjoying it!"I love Pride and Prejudice... it's on my feel-good fallback plan book list!
Chauncey wrote: "I am currently pushing through Anna Karenina and The Brothers Karamazov. I do not know how I ended up in the middle of these chunksters at the same time, but I am enjoying it!"I really liked Anna Karenina when i read it years ago!
