I know. Just not as many as a novel, plus they're broken up more, meaning more books. I'm glad she changed it. :)

I think it gives the general us an unfair advantage over the Leah. So I don't like it.
I think it should be disqualified in general, along with picture books. And I'm not hating on manga readers... I'd disqualify my Tintin reading, too. ;)
But that excludes those of us just prefer reading comics. That's just who some of us are. =P
It only excludes you from this particular challenge, though. :) By all means, you should have another challenge for reading manga. Nobody's saying it's bad, just that it may not be compatible with this particular challenge.
Leah gets to make the rules. It's up to her whether manga/comics are allowed, and she really didn't need to disallow them for herself as initially she did say they were okay for everyone. It's only a fair game if she makes the rules.
I'm not trying to make the rules. :) I'm just saying I am glad she made that decision. I didn't complain about it before, it's her game, so of course she gets to make the rules. Just giving feedback! :)
I'm not making any restrictions on what other participants can count. If you can (legally) add it to Goodreads, by all means! I want to keep this simple. More rules is just too much work. ;)

Hi! I just joined Goodreads this week. Am I too late to join this party?? I read three books in the first two weeks of January (one of which is not in the database and which I have not yet taken time to add--"The Malefactor" by E. Phillips Oppenheim.) I wrote 25 pages on a story of mine, then switched back to reading with 3 books the last week of January and the first week of February. Then I finished writing chapter 33 and have almost finished chapter 34 of my epic book that's already about 100k words. So I read in definite spurts! I'll go over and make a shelf...

I hear ya! I, too, am a writer, and last year I did horribly balancing writing with reading. (Meaning I mostly wrote and read very little.) This challenge was my drastic and humorous attempt to change that. ;) So far, it's worked brilliantly!

Faith is correct; audiobooks are fine, since you "absorbed" an entire book in the process of listening. :)
I'll try! Full time student + part time job + all other family, church, and other related activities might make it a little difficult, but I'll give it a go.
That's the idea! I struggle with finding time to read, which is why I started this challenge. The point of this game is to challenge everyone to read as much as they can within their schedules, so, welcome!

Yep. Obi-Wan, probably, from the main series, but I liked Banth (Was that her name?) as well. My favorite, though, would have to go to Quinlan Vos.
Bant Eerin? The Mon Calamarian who was Tahl's apprentice? I liked her, too. Quinlan is one interesting Jedi, for sure. I don't follow the comics as much as the books (mostly post-ROTJ), just because my library doesn't get many SW comics (they tend to get the manga stuff).

I read the Junior Jedi Knights and Young Jedi Knights, and that's about it for post-RotJ. There's just so many, I don't know where to start.

So if any book counts (i.e. - audiobook, fiction, non-fiction, etc.), is it okay to do children's books and textbooks? (I'm taking some education courses and we write lesson plans using children's books as read alouds).
If you read the entire textbook, yes, it counts. And yes, I'm allowing people to count children's books as well, as it's too much work for me to nitpick over reading level. ;)
You might like to know that I joined Goodreads just to enter. ^_^ So...I'm in.I'm reading the whole Bible through...does it count as one book or 66? ;)

You can, AFAIK, only add a book to a shelf once, so while you can reread books you've read in the past, you can't reread a book multiple times this year and count it, unless you can figure out how to add it to your shelf multiple times. That's just for simplicity since I'm looking at the total number of books on your shelf--I personally don't care if you're rereading. :)

While I'm not doing so (except maybe for one that I "counted" when I read the version I downloaded from a fan-fiction site last year, and now have in hard copy), it is possible to give separate "reviews" (and thus "shelve" separately?) to different editions of a book.
