It should read, "... in all of history men have been taught ...".
Thanks!

Should read:
"...We put no checks on him. Go out and kill as many of a certain kind or classification of your brothers as you can..."
A capital "G", and "or" instead of "of".
Thanks!

Many thanks,
Robin

Gone, since you were the only person who had added it.

Hey, I added a quote, but accidently tagged the wrong book! It's supposed to be Badass: A relentless onslaught of the toughts warlords, vikings, etc. by Ben Thompson. If someone could fix that for me, that'd be great!

Done. It looks like Dorothy Parker didn't originate it.

Most of Annie Proulx's stuff is under E. Annie Proulx. Can the attribution of these quotes be changed to match?
(and I guess the profiles should be merged, but I can't find how to do that)

is there anyone who can merge those?

The quote i'm referring to is
“She never understood that love -- especially that of a child -- was the most necessary weight you can endure in life, even if it hurts, even if it tugs bags under the skin of your eyes. Without it, the soul skitters to the edge of the world and teeters there, confused.”

“Grace means there is nothing we can do to make God love us more - and grace also means there is nothing we can do to make God love us less.
Dave and Neta Jackson in Grounded”

Thank you so much!

Lao Tzu did NOT mention tea at all !
Easy to confirm, as Lao Tzu only wrote the Tao Te Ching, which does not mention tea in either the Chinese original, nor in any English translations.
Please remove this quote.
(I found out about this as a friend wrote a book about tea, found this quote and included it in his book, which has already gone to press!!!)

Edited. As far as I can tell, we don't have that author or book in the system. (It's way, way pre-ISBN, so I guess that's not entirely surprising.)

Agreed. That was why I wasn't going to touch it while on the Android App. I'm a bit limited in what I can do at the moment 'coz I'm about four weeks away from a cataract operation (first of two, geez).

Thanks. My dad was happy with his op as well.

Author profile has one quote with one like by "Victor".

Published authors all meet that qualification.

Published authors all meet that qualification.

Could a librarian delete these quotes from me please?
I'm a new author still getting used to Goodreads and I hadn't realized that I couldn't delete these quotes by myself while I entered them. I need them gone since I've made changes to the book after posting these quotes.
Thank you,

Apologies for the delayed response. I forgot to check the notifs option for this thread.
I've been using your comment here as a guideline. Did I misunderstand your post? So personal thoughts of any author suffice for GR quote purposes, even though not found in any material or publication by said author or otherwise?

Wouldn't this be a copyright violation?

I've always been under the impression that full poems are frowned upon. I'm guessing, yes?

On the subject of "any thoughts of an author" it would presumably depend on who the author was. Many of the quotes we already have we're never written down by the person they are attributed to (and that is ignoring the vast number that were most likely never even uttered by them in the first place).

Well, that is bizarre. If we really are talking about copyright violation then the only thing to do is refer it to the staff (or Rivka) and they can delete both the poem and the author from Goodreads. The poem because it is complete and the author because the poem seems to be the only reason for her to be on Goodreads in the first place. The author obviously has her reasons so let the staff know about it.
Edit: added 'reason'

Having trouble parsing this. Are you saying the author is a Goodreads member?

I don't know if she is on Goodreads as an ordinary member as well as an author but the poem in question does seem to be the only thing she has written so if we or the staff remove the poem from Quotes as per her clearly stated desire there will be an empty author profile.
