It is from Valiant, the 3rd book in that series"
I figured, with the teeth reference, that is was from the same series, but I only read Fury so I couldnt say for sure.

"You've changed your mind about wanting to marry me. You're afraid I'll burn down your home. Embarrass you in front of all the other city brutes."
"I'm afraid," he said gently, "that you will burn down my heart.”

And this one.
“Under the spell of the mighty Carpathians, with the breath of her creation blowing over her heart, Amalia's Gift splintered. She was given two futures: one dark, one bright, the same mortal lover pulling her two-handed into each.
Every step she took lured her closer to the dark.”

Oscar Wilde does seem unlikely. There are also two versions of this quote on Goodreads attributed to Helen Keller from her autobiography "The Story of My Life" (I've now combined them).
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/22124...
I have that book and the quote is certainly not in there. Do you have a source for it?
The most common answers on the internet are Wilde (probably wrong) or Unknown/Anonymous.

Alas, no. I know it's not Oscar Wilde (or at least he never wrote it down himself), so I assumed Keller simply because it was attributed to her here.

Also, can someone advise... I'm guessing that this quote should be deleted.

Thank you

It was misquoted by Neil Gaiman as an epigraph in the book Coraline. Would a super please change the attribution? Thanks.

Just as an OCD footnote: Chesterton actually said, "Fairy tales do not give a child his first idea of bogey. What fairy tales give the child is his first clear idea of the possible defeat of bogey. The baby has known the dragon intimately ever since he had an imagination. What the fairy tale provides for him is a St. George to kill the dragon."
The actual Chesterton quote and attribution is here. --> http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/40314...

So what we are saying is that this quote is Neil Gaiman's interpretation of a G.K. Chesterton quote and needs to be attributed to Neil?
EDIT: I agree, attributed to Neil Gaiman.

Some suggest the one used by himself in the memories should be credited the most - it's the first one(http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/28-i-...) which also has the most likes. Now, seen this ambiguity we could let them all, or keep just the first one.
It will be nice if other librarian can share his/ her take on this! :)

The other two versions by Marx (and a Charlie Chaplin version http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/99350...) could be combined into the main one. A version by Woody Allen http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7347-...) seems to be different enough to keep.
If there are no adverse comments I'll do that later.
yeah, Bamjomike I think that we will keep that. no deleting. It is different enough

I don't know who said it (and I can't find the original autor, if one actually exists), but I know T. Hiddleston never said it, so someone, please, delete it. Thank you.
Okay I'll try to figure out the quote problem Karmen
Actually Karmen Tom Hiddleston is the author of it. I am pretty Sure. So I am really sorry

Are you sure? Did you manage to find the source?
The thing is, few of my friends are his huge fans and they've told me this quote isn't his, but that they also didn't know who it really came from. So I gave it a go and searched it and I couldn't find any proof he said that, but I did find bunch of people fighting over it on Tumblr many of which were claiming he never said it.
I'm confused.
And no need to apologise for clearing things up. :)
I looked it up on Google and it says it his. So it may be another author but I couldn't find the other author. GTG

Google results on any given quote mean very, very little.
