Gina Hi everyone! I just joined and my name is Gina. I'm an avid reader and have loved reading for as long as I can remember. My favorite genre is mystery/psychological thrillers, but I also like women's fiction, and on occasion I do read some non-fiction. I live in GA, I'm a stay at home wife, and I have 1 daughter. She's 26 and just got married this summer, but I have lots of fur babies still at home :) I have 5 cats and 3 dogs. Yes, we are big animal lovers! I look forward to meeting everyone and participating in this group!

S.B. Redstone (sbredstone) | 3 comments Hi, I'm an author from NY and south Florida. I thought I had introduced myself before, but apparently not. I am so involved in the marketing of my debut novel that I cannot remember what I did or did not do in the cyber world, even with the lists I make. Although marketing is a chore, I love meeting new people, readers and fellow authors. Any help I can be to anyone is a pleasure.

E.Michael Helms Hi, all: Don't remember if I've checked-in or not. I've been published in memoir, historical fiction, and in November my first mystery comes out via Seventh Street Books. Also just sold a literary novel to Stairway Press. Concentrating now trying to establish my mystery series. Thanks, and good luck to all!

Stuart Goldman (mrgwangi) | 1 comments Hi,

I'm Stuart.....a former music critic at the L.A. Times and columnist at the L.A. Reader (RIP). I hope this isn't considered self-hype, but I'm about to publish my first book (Nov 15, 2013) a collection of my articles from assorted newspapers (mostly true crime) as well as short fiction...some published, some not. And that's all I'm going to say about that. I've been so busy writing for the last 2 years, that I've simply not had the time to read....and I'm very excited about the fact that now that my book is done, I'll have time to read again. At any rate, I just wanted to introduce myself and I intend to get more involved in contributing to Goodreads....not just in one genre, but in many.

Vicki, my son had planned to go to school in Saskatoon to work on his Masters. It ended up not working out, as he fell in love and decided to stay in the states. However, in my research I did on the area, it looked like a wonderful place to live or visit. Maybe one of these days I can still get there.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1 comments My love of books/reading has enabled me to meet so many interesting people, authors and other readers. I am excited about meeting more here in this group. My favorite genre is mystery, and I recently attended the giant book event for mystery/crime authors and fans in Albany, Bouchercon 2013. I highly recommend this event to all lovers of this genre. It was my first time attending, and I met so many wonderful authors and like-minded fans. Next year's Bouchercon is in Long Beach, CA, and while I won't be able to attend that one, I know it will be fantastic, too. Hope to get to the Raleigh, NC one in 2015. Great to be a part of this group and hope to expand my friendships in the joy of reading.

Amy, have you ever read any of the thrillers written by AJ Waines? I just finished her book Girl on a Train and found it a gripping experience. I didn't figure out the villain, and I'm usually pretty good at analyzing plot lines.

AJ Waines is a psychotherapist and her writing (in my opinion) shows a keen sense of the human mind, and of the human spirit.

message 2282: by Scott (last edited Nov 26, 2013 12:53PM) (new)

Scott H H. | 1 comments Good afternoon group, Mysteries & Crime Thrillers. I am new to the Goodreads and even newer to this group. My purpose out here is to not only promote my books but to meet other authors and to check out their books.

My name is Scott H Hendricks of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I am a grandfather age 64. I have written three adult mysteries and one children's mystery. The children's mystery "Who is the Bully" was written after my oldest granddaughter asked, "Papa, why don't you write a book I can read?" Gosh, what more does a papa who is a writer need in this life?

I majored in English and American Studies with minors in Social Anthropology and U.S. History some forty-two years ago. I have been a free lance writer for most of those bygone years. Most of those years were writing what others wanted to print in their quarterlies and magazines. I finally came to the realization that I was short-changing myself and my ideas were getting me nowhere. I completed my first mystery in 2006 "River of Tears". After years of rejections, I self published the book using CreateSpace. All my books are available at Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions.

In addition, I am an avid mystery reader. I usually read two or three books per week. I have ten two-shelf book shelves. They are all two books deep on each shelf with books. If I find a book I enjoy, I will read it multiple times. I am always looking for new authors to read. Please add me to your friend list and don't be afraid to share a link to your books so I may avail myself the opportunity to read what you have written.

I am currently writing two new books. The first is a sequel to "Who is the Bully". The series I call the "Magdalena Mysteries" and the title of the new book is "Who is the Stranger". I am also writing a new adult mystery "Frozen Stiff" starring my odd group of detectives of the Johnson-Ingram Consulting Agency. I think every mystery needs some characters who have flaws, be they serious or humorous.

Here is where you can find my books:

Hi! My name is Rick Soper and I'm a Thriller writer who's written the four books you can see above. But in addition to being a writer I am also an avid reader whole greatly enjoys Thrillers, Mysteries, Horror, and a little Paranormal. I originally joined Goodreads to promote my books when I found it as a source to do so in a Google search, but then I started looking around and found that Goodreads is a wonderful source to find new books, authors, and series to read. Since joining I've written reviews for every book I've read and will continue to do so because I really enjoy having the forum to be able to tell people what I think about books. I only wish I'd found Goodreads sooner in my life because I really enjoy it.

David Graham (davidgraham) Hi,

I'm a lover of thrillers and mysteries who was totally unaware of Goodreads until recently. I won a national competition in Ireland to have my book published and in the process of learning about the digital world I was told about Goodreads. I read other genres and lots of history and current affairs but thrillers are my favorites. Within the genre, I like quite a diverse range, I've posted some reviews to illustrate the range e.g. James Ellroy, Robert B Parker, James Lee Burke, earlier work of Eric Lustbader, Simon Kernick, Stuart Neville, Jack Higgins, John LeCarre, Stephen Hunter, Ian Rankin etc.

I'm currently reading 'Legends' by Robert Littell and really enjoying it.

Look forward to contributing.

regards
David

message 2293: by David (new)

David Graham (davidgraham) Hi Susan,

It's called 'Incitement' Incitement

It's been well received in Ireland and had very limited coverage beyond but the hope would be in the New Year to try to attract some readers from other areas.

Thanks fro the welcome, I'm looking forward to discussing various books as I acquaint myself with Goodreads.
