Stefan Yates (stefan31) Hi, all!! I'm new to the group and excited to check out all of the discussions here! Looks like you have an active group with a lot of interesting threads.

As for me, I'm from Kansas. I love to read all sorts of books from all sorts of different genres. As for mystery and crime thrillers, I like to read a little bit of everything from James Patterson and Dan Brown to Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. There's really not a whole lot that I won't give a try. I'm also a huge sci-fi/fantasy fan and my all-time favorite author is Stephen King.

Anyway, I'll get to diving into the threads here now. Looking forward to getting to know you along the way!

Steven | 1 comments Hi. I'm Steve. I'm a writer who loves to read. I cut my teeth on Conan Doyle's mysteries of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. Read mysteries for boys (The Three Investigators), re-read the Holmes Canon (Several times). I've read James, Rendell, Hillerman, Chandler, Hammett, Peters, Christie, and Francis. Recently began reading Lee Child and Patricia Cornwell. Enjoyed reading China Mieville's 'The City and the City' and Ben H. Winters 'The Last Policeman'.
I love reading a well-written book. I'm always looking for new authors. It's really about the writing for me.
I've written my first book, a noir crime thriller called "Dead Soldiers" that I'm self-publishing.

Jennifer | 4 comments hi my name is Jennifer & I joined the Goodreads site earlier this year. It was recommended to me by a work colleague who also started a book club among us. I find the site really good & informative. Its interesting to read other's points of view on books I have read & also good to get ideas on what to read. The type of books I am interested in reading is relatively broad. Looking forward to taking part in future discussions.

Have been a mystery fan for many years - starting with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. Now my teenage daughters have caught the bug and are reading their way through Agatha Christie's many books.

Thanks for making this group available!

message 1668: by Harvey (new)

Harvey Chute | 2 comments Thanks, Jac! Your mother did you a good turn. I've found that an early love of reading sometimes triggers a desire for writing - and am excited that my girls (15-year-old twins) are working hard on an elaborate fantasy novel. Gotta love that!

message 1677: by Chris (new)

Chris Logan Hi fellow readers. I am very new to Goodreads and can't believe how much there is to say about books. Before discovering Goodreads I use to read a book, discard it then on to the next one. No discussion until now that is. Have many favourite authors and keep a word document with all the book titles I have read so that I don't repeat anything! The document is now 26 pages long. Anyway hello to everyone from Chester, United Kingdom.

MaryAnn Kempher (mkempher) | 7 comments Hi, my name is MaryAnn Kempher. My favorite mystery author is Agatha Christie. Love her. Favorite is Hercule Poirot. I even watch the BBC versions of her book. I've written one book, not trying to sell here--only mention it because her and Jane Austen are my inspirations.

I'm kind of going through a dry spell, meaning I haven't been able to read much lately. Hoping that will change soon.

message 1679: by Bianca (new)

Bianca (chaoslovesorder) I've been popping up now and again on the boards here but haven't introduced myself! (Sorry!)

I'm Bianca, from Sydney Australia. I'm currently studying both Modern and Ancient History in the hopes of becoming a qualified High School Teacher.

I was shown this group by a goodreads friend (thank you Jac Wright!) and decided to join. I haven't read a whole lot of Murder Mystery stuff but it does hold my interest in other mediums- like on TV, movies and such. So I figured I could combine my love for the genre with my love of reading, and thought this would be a wonderful place to start. :)

message 1680: by Bianca (new)

Bianca (chaoslovesorder) Thank you very much! This is so helpful :D

I am currently reading a lot of books on self help and spirituality, but I am sure to eventually begin to crave a good old crime and I am in this group so I can keep myself updated about what everyone else is reading.
Hope to make a lot of like-minded friends here. Have a nice day everyone!

I know a couple of people here- Connie's in a group I moderate, and I think I became friends with Jac after she saw I was friends with Connie.

As a kid I was a die hard Trixie Belden fan. I read all types of genres as an adult. I have just discovered Lee Child after seeing the movie Jack Reacher.

message 1688: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1 comments Hello everyone. My name is Evelyn and I live on the outskirts of Baltimore City, Maryland. I love to read, in fact I read so much that my husband begged me to get a kindle so that I could get rid of some of my books. What can I say, sometimes I enjoy reading certain books several times.
My most favorite genre to read it's probably mystery. I remember when I was a child I was so into mystery stories that my mom took me to the library to get Encyclopedia Brown and Hardy Boys novels. I think that reading is the third longest thing that I've done ohm my life, one and two being breathing and eating. Anyway, I look forward to sharing in this great group and discovering new authors along the wa.

I was never a big reader until a year ago, I'm talking like cliff notes for every book that was ever required in school (terrible I know). But now I love it! I mostly enjoy true crime, mysteries and thrillers and anything involving substance abuse and mental illness. The creepier and more disturbing it is, the more I like it. Anyways, thanks for having me in the group and I look forward to all it's got to offer!
