message 1656: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments And Steven, don't worry, even if we ended up all splitted into different teams, We can still snoop around each others threads!

I feel like at the end of the summer camp, trading addresses and phone numbers *giggles*

message 1657: by Gayle (new)

Gayle (gretarahikkainen) | 125 comments Finally finished Blameless (Parasol Protectorate, #3) by Gail Carriger . Too many irons in the fire and didn't get enough reading time. On to Heartless (Parasol Protectorate, #4) by Gail Carriger .

Ashley Steven wrote: "If you have Amazon prime, I believe the Nikki Heat books are available for the free monthly checkouts!"

what is this free monthly checkout you speak of? Is it like a library for tablets? I have prime but i've never heard of this.

message 1659: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Amazon Prime has a Lending Library. If you have Prime, you are entitled to "check out" one book for free every month. It's one way to make up for the price of Prime -- read your free book each month, take advantage of free two-day shipping, and watch all those free shows/movies! :)

I know what you mean, Steven. I really like this team so I'm hoping to be with a few of the same people on my new team in round 2. I rarely ever "spy" on the other team threads because I just don't have the time.

message 1666: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I have you all on my spreadsheet, so I'm going to stalk you check on you all on the various threads because I really liked our team members' interaction this past months :o)

message 1667: by Barb (new)

Barb LOL Sonia It will be good to see some familiar names, even if we don't end up on the same team :)

message 1669: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Good Morning A-team

We have no winner yet:

TEAM A:1840
TEAM B:1942
TEAM C:2011
TEAM D:1780

I'm going to do one last check on your books now to see our exact status. You better have all your books tagged correctly - some members forget to add the book to the team's shelf - or else I'll PM you asking to do that :o)

Sometimes we have a good surprise and our number improves.

*crosses fingers at that*

See you in a couple of hours

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Or just be biased in the team-making and put all of us on one team and randomize the rest hahahahaha

I just startled my cat because I burst into laughter. Thanks :o) I needed a distraction from the numbers :o)

message 1673: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments You're welcome, though I wasn't entirely joking *hint hint* :)

message 1674: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments :)

I know

But you don't want to have a biased team co-captain now, do you?

message 1675: by Barb (new)

Barb Steven wrote: "Or just be biased in the team-making and put all of us on one team and randomize the rest hahahahaha"

But there are going to smaller teams next time around -- and more of them -- so we can't *all stay together :\

message 1676: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I love biased co-captains!!! :D

Smaller teams without my peeps... *le sigh*

message 1677: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments You will love it!

Besides... I'm not over with you yet, I have a few trickbs on my sleeve to keep in touch.

got to go now, be back in a couple of hours.

Meanwhile I'm in the middle of the book check, a few PM's were sent. I'm doing them alphabetically, and I'm in the middle of the J's, meaning that Barb you are checked and OK, Steven and Stacie will have the appointment in 2-3 hours so if you need to do some changes, now is the time for doing them

*mean teacher's face*

*giggles*

Happy readings A-team

I do what I can

Triple checking? If I ever need help I know who to ask ;-)

message 1681: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Yeah, I'm a little obsessive! Please ask! Right now I'm making sure all my books have start and end dates!

message 1682: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I'm pretty sure all the books I've read this year are on the Team A shelf (as long as they are over 160 pages). I've tried to keep up with start and end dates, etc. :)

message 1683: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Nice. I'm not home anymore so I don't have my spreaddheet handy, but I think your books were ok.

Off to the gym now to suffer work-out a little.

See ya

message 1684: by Steven (new)

I just ate a donut, then read this. Good for you, Sonia!

message 1686: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm back!

A little tired because my trainer saw a skipping rope and decided to ask if I knew how to skip - which I never was good at and didn't do for almost 25 years - the "I am so going to kill me" thought never crossed my mind, I was occupied panting on the floor and trying not to pass out from the effort *giggles* but is sooo worth it! All the stress from the past weeks just puffed away.

I'll be back on checking books in a minute or two - if I don't fall asleep since I'm laying on my couch and is raining outside and my cat is purring at my feet is a very good possibility.

message 1687: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments :) rainy days at home with kittehs are nice. Wish I had more time outside of my damn office building. *SIGH*

message 1688: by Barb (new)

Barb It's a beautiful 'summer' day here in central Pennsylvania -- sunny, 84 degrees, a bit of a breeze now and then -- and everyone's fussing about it LOL It IS way too warm for this early in the year, but I love being able to open the windows and let in some fresh air! Unfortunately, I don't think the guys who are working on our roof appreciate the warmth quite as much as the rest of us do :\

I'm tempted to drag out the sun umbrella and deck chairs, but I know this isn't going to last, so I'll just wait until it *stays like this :)

message 1689: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I took a few days off work. Had some vacation days available and have a 2 month really stressful and time consuming project on the way - starting on the 22th, so my boss said if I have to take some time off, now was the time to do it, and I did. From today to next tuesday I have no plans whatsoever. Time to indulge on some relaxing activities.

That was us yesterday, and now we have storms in Pittsburgh. I bet they're coming your way next.

I'm still happy and glad I'm not wearing snow boots finally! It seemed like winter was never going to end this year.

message 1691: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Yeah, it's a gorgeous day here in NC too. I would much rather be outside, doing something active, than sitting here at work. Le sigh!

My company is bad about time off for the first two years you work here... which I'm about five months away from hitting the end of year two thank goodness.

Even then, I only get an extra 3 days a year. :(

We get 12 days PTO (Paid Time Off) a year for the first two years. That's ALL sick AND vacation combined. They add 3 days after year 2. They also require 5 PTO days off in a row (a thursday friday and then monday tuesday wednesday of the next week is fine, for example) not counting a holiday if it's in that week due to regulations... someone has to do my job for those five days a year to make sure I'm not being bad. Financial industry, CREDIT UNIONS! :D

So I don't have much PTO for lazy days because I've been sick 10 days in the last 2 years due to a black mold infestation at my old place. BLAH. Can't wait to have some stocked up for lazy days!!!

message 1692: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments The real good is when you hit the 5 year mark. You get an extra week!!!

message 1693: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm for Portugal, so things are a little different. Usually we get 22 days per year. Unless your contract is temporary, and inferior to six months - in that case you have 2 day for each month of stipulated work.

the sick days don't count as long as they are authorized/prescripted by a doctor, with paperwork associated. If not, they count as absent days and too many can cause the worker to be fired.

message 1694: by [deleted user] (new)

It's rainy here which is not fun since we are under a serve thunderstorm watch til 8pm

message 1695: by Barb (new)

Barb Not fun at all, Nancy. My son and his wife are in OK City, and they've been having some really nasty weather there this week.

And yes, Ashley, the rain and cooler temps are on their way here, due to arrive tomorrow, I believe. As long as it doesn't get *too cold -- and as long as we've seen the last of that white stuff until next winter -- I can handle cooler temps ... and even some rain :)
