Scary isn't it?

Towards the beginning of 2015, we'll have an opportunity to request any personal challenges and she will set it up for us. That may be your opportunity for requesting a biography challenge.

Hi Bob,
I have created a challenge for you called Getting To Know Them, Click Here to Find It.
It will run from now until the end of 2014. Then I will recreate it for the entire year 2015.
Let me know if you need assistance filling in your first challenge.
Happy to have you join us. Will be interested to see who you read about.

Sorry I can't be more help - but I hope yours fixes itself, too! Or maybe you could contact GR help (see the way bottom of the page, tiny gray tabs).

And, Darkpool, I've had years like that; I empathize. Then I start to get bored or burnt-out and the pendulum swings the other way.

Congratulations! I like the idea of upping one's numbers for next year. :)

Already complete: Serial-eyes, Doorstops, Hear Ye!
Close & do-able: Where's your card, reality check (should be done by the end of the weekend!), Shelving unit, Authorisation.
Yeah, nah... not going to make it: Goodreads Authorisation.
A far more successful year for me than last year where I think I missed just about every one!

When I forced my update I found that I have completed my one and only challenge. I think next year I'll do two: 'home alone' again and something with e-books.

I never quite get the Home Alone one done to my satisfaction! Still, if I didn't put myself to the challenge, I would probably do worse!☺

Hi again Bob,
I am working on setting up the Challenges for 2015 right now. I plan to have them completely formed by the 15th and will notify everyone when that is accomplished.
The best way (in my opinion) to see the challenges is to use the 2015 Challenge Catalog. There you will find links to individual challenges based on the tasks to be performed or cross-referenced by the challenge name.
Find the challenges that appeal to you and declare how many books you plan to read to complete that particular challenge, and state what shelf your completion results will be on in your My Books list.
If you do not find a challenge that works for your goals, let me know and I will create one for you, or advise you of which challenge might be used.
In the mean time, you might take a look at the 2014 challenges to get an idea of what will be available. I intend to duplicate those challenges for the coming year.
Have fun planning. You'll be hearing from me soon.

Thanks again, Almeta, for putting these challenges together for us each year. I love it!
You would think that since I had a challenge, in the You'll Love This One! group, to read lots of chunksters during the year that I would have excelled at Doorstops. But nooooo, I'd rather read three 200 page books for an equivalent , than read one 500 page book.
One twist of the YLTO! Connect the Chunksters Challenge was to connect each book in some way (view spoiler) and read them in succession. This gave me the freedom to connect bigger books with small ones. Soooo, I did manage to reach my Shortcut goal.
I would say 75 percent of the books I complete these days are audio, but my challenge stats are not going to reflect that because I forget to mark the Hear Ye shelf. I don't chose the audio edition as read either because audio books do not show the number of pages read, and I want my GoodReads stats to reflect the correct number of pages.
Once again, I have not read (to get rid of) as many books that I own as I had intended. Whereas my Dewey's depository shelf is positively overflowing with books from the library for the Where's Your Card? challenge. Well, at least I'm not buying any. Er, except when the Friends of the Library snag me!
I'm pretty disappointed in my Left Over Stew performance. There will just be that many more to tackle in 2015!

The Award Goes To is one of my favorite challenges. I love films. Though truthfully if I didn't have this as a challenge, I would probably not watch many movies. My GoodReads group challenges keep my nose immersed in books!

I think I'll suggest similar in the other group that I belong to - Bookworm's Cocoon.
Btw, if any of you are having trouble keeping track of all your challenges, especially of updating them all whenever you finish a book, the first entry in the "Tips and Tricks" thread there is very informative.

Here's what MY YLTO! Connection Challenge looks like:
Almeta's Voluminous Volumes and Miniature Matchmakers
There is a similar Challenge going on at Crazy Challenge Connection, which is more restrictive in "connection" criteria.

Thanks for sharing that TIP thread.

Forgive me, but I can't find the "Tips and Tricks" thread you mentioned. Where is it hiding?

It's hiding in the Bookworm's Cocoon group at this link: Tips and Tricks

One more book and left over stew is history for me. I must get reading it because I refuse to carry those old challenges into the new year. I'm obsessive enough to finish the challenges, though, and that's what got me into this mess.
I'm so glad that the Chunkster challenge is almost over at YLTO.

Time to start thinking about which challenges I'll tackle for 2015.

Happy New Year to Everyone!
Has everybody recorded all their challenge qualified books?
I would like to get the results posted around the 9th, so we can see how we did.
So get busy!☺

Personally, I'm about halfway on most of mine. I'm also ridiculously ahead on one; and tragically behind on another. Strangely, I'm ahead on the doorstoppers, mostly because I ended up starting a new fantasy series where each of the books are around 600 pages and still fast to read. And predictably, I'm behind on the Leftover Stew. Because if those were easy to get around to reading, they wouldn't be left-over!

Funny that you posted this. Last week I had an internal dialog myself, the content of which was to remind you all to assess your personal challenges progress.
I don't know if everyone has to do this, but I have to "force" my challenges to update and did so last week. I surprised myself at how well I am actually doing! I have a couple of challenges that need attention, and am otherwise on target for my goals.
How is everyone else doing?
I can hardly believe that the year is half over!

I realized that I have not been shelving properly, so had to go back and review the books I've read.

Yes, I notice that as well. The challenge that I most often forget to shelve for is Hear Ye, Hear Ye.
