I think Edward was overly protective and a jerk. Jacob truly loved her and they should have ended up together... what do you guys think?

Nope.I have always thought Bella and Edward should be together.I found Jacob immature and pushy. In New Moon he tried to push her into loving him.Plus in Eclipse he said he was going to kill himself to make her kiss him.Edward was willing to let her go if she really wanted to be with Jacob.Jacob wasn't.Plus he kissed her and when she tried to push him away he didn't pull back. That was very wrong. So No Jacob didn't deserve Bella.
I don't know, both of them seem kind of abusive.
When you look at the entire scope of the books, Jacob really never had a chance. Does he deserve her? Good question. Jacob is a good kid, a nice guy, a passionate man, but Bella just isn't for him.Personally, I think he deserves someone that will love him equally and with as much adoration as he does. Bella doesn't fit that mold, and never did.
I felt like a lot of Jacob's motivations for wanting Bella to choose him were rooted in the fact that he physically is repelled (and changed!) by vampires. He wants anything but that for her, so he desperately tries to alter her affections.
TL;DR: Deserving, yes, but he needs an equal, not someone that settled for him.
i think jacob is deserved for ren.if bella married jacob then edward will not have a partner and the story will end in a grief end.but when she married edward, everybody was in pair.o i am saying my opinion
I think they all should've been turned into fairies and Edward would be their queen and he would decide which fairies he would want to turn to dust or let out into the human world spreading joy to the children.
Leah wrote: "I think they all should've been turned into fairies and Edward would be their queen and he would decide which fairies he would want to turn to dust or let out into the human world spreading joy to ..."i think it will be a boring end.how could a vampire change into a fairy in a change of time
Kristen wrote: "if bella married jacob then edward will not have a partner and the story will end in a grief end."If Bella had married Jacob, Edward has eternity to find someone else. Why is Bella the only possible choice for Edward in the whole wide world? He's an immortal being.
Peace wrote: "if she did end end with jake, then where would ren be or who would jake imprint on?"That is so true. i mean i loved how the story panned out...
Ren would be a normal girl who will grow up and have plenty of time (presumably forever) to find someone to share her life with.Just because things are tied into tidy bows doesn't mean they couldn't be different. They would likely just be different bows. :)
ForeverAquarius wrote: "Im pretty sure id be hit severely if i shared my honest opinion..."please share your honest opinion, nobody is gonna hit you
few crucial points1.jake loved bella cuz in there somewhere there was renesmee and when ren came... there were just friendly feelings jake felt for bella
2. bella did love jake but edwards love empowered both of them ... bella and edward were meant for each other... even if edward had an eternity he could never find someone else....
3. ren would have never been in picture cuz bella could have never forgot edward which would have created a fuss btw jake and bella and who know what jake temper whold have cost them...
4. edward was never a over protective ass bearing lover if bella could have really lived happily with jake, he would have retreated....
5. can u give up ur true love for someone u just have feelings for?....
i don understand when ppl want bella and jake ...i feel ren and jake is better thn bella and jake...
stephenie mayer should have written a book wholly on jake and renee
They're both just so intense and extreme. Bella's a little too plain to be with either in a truly successful relationship. She should've gone with Mike when she had the chance. They're both mellow and they're not too bad together :)
Peace wrote: "it would be kind of interesting if SM did write somting about ren and jake though."ya i agree with that
I think she really should've ended up with Jacob. Edward is too cold and serious while Jacob seems real even when he's a wolf. I loved him from his first word and I'm still mad at Bella :p But I'm happy he have Reneesme
Nicole D. wrote: "Nope.I have always thought Bella and Edward should be together.I found Jacob immature and pushy. In New Moon he tried to push her into loving him.Plus in Eclipse he said he was going to kill himself..."I absolutely agree with you. I think Edward was the better choice. Jake wasn't mature enough for one and I think if roles had been reversed, Jacob would've been "overly protective and a jerk." It kinda happens when a guy really doesn't want to lose someone.
Plus, Edward is a vampire and there is nothing cooler than a vampire, period.

If someone looks at the book logically, Jacob is the healthier choice. The relationship bella has with Edward is not good for either of them and if she was your friend you would tell her to break up with him. The problem is she was so determined not to like jacob that I can't tell how much she really felt. For all I know she may have not liked him that much but at the end of the third book just fantasised the idea for fun.
It would also be less drama and arguably less thrilling plot line. Especially since the love triangle is the main plot in the series.
Tilly wrote: "I think it was good; Edward and Bella were always going to be together, I'd say meant to be together but I don't mean fate and destiny, I just mean that they were the best possible option of a coup..."
I know what you mean. :P
I know what you mean. :P
I think it couldn't work out but Bella hasn't even thought of the logical reason yet.She knows about Jake and she knows that there's such a thing as imprinting. Jake hasn't imprinted on Bella as he told her. So if she chose Jake she would always be afraid of losing him.
It would just be a matter of time for Jake to imprint on somebody and as we know from the whole sam - leah situation he couldn't change anything about it and leave Bella right away. Bella would be where Jake picked her up. In the woods where Edward left her once....
No it would completely ruin the series and then the fifth and fourth book wouldn't exist. It would just change everything in a bad way
Plus Jake and Renesseme are perfect for each other and their relationship wouldn't exist if Bella ended up with Jake it would also ruin their beautiful friendship
I agree that Edward and Bella were meant for each other. If Bella had ended up with Jake I think some problems would have developed in their relationship as they are very different in personality. Also, we know that Jake would never have been as happy with Bella as he could have been, because SM showed us that Renesmee is his perfect match. He would have missed out on that happiness if he had ended up with Bella.
Lynne wrote: "I agree that Edward and Bella were meant for each other. At any time, he could encounter the girl he was intended to imprint on, and no matter what existed between the two of them, he would be done with Bella, just like Sam and Leah.
Olivia wrote: "yea i would think so to. but i think when Jake found Ren she was the best,so far to imprint on cause she would be his forever when she grew up.@Rel u mean Sam and Emily."No, I mean Sam and Leah. Sam and Leah were seriously dating, and they would have married. But when Sam met Emily and imprinted, he broke the promises he made to Leah. He had no choice but to throw her over in favor of Emily.
The same thing could happen to Bella and Jacob if they stayed together. Bella would have the possibility of Jacob's imprinting on another girl hanging over her head for as long as they were together.
With Edward, she wouldn't have that problem. Once a vampire finds their mate, it's the same thing as imprinting, and it never goes away. Bella would always be able to rely on Edward because she was his mate.
I don't even consider the suitability of Jake pairing with RenFailmee because she's a plot hole and she shouldn't exist.
Olivia wrote: "yea i suppose so, but if bella did end up with jake, then Ren wouldn't be born or be in the story, that on there type of thing? "True, if Bella ended up with Jacob, the entire story would have changed, and who their children were, or if they had children at all, would have been up in the air.
But at least it would have made sense for her to have children, if she stayed with Jacob. Having children with Edward still does not make sense.
A couple people have mentioned here, and in other discussions, that Renesmee was the perfect match for Jacob. I'm curious to know how we know that? From SM's definition of werewolf imprinting, the wolf changes to be whatever the girl (or boy, if Leah ever imprints) needs him to be. But how do we know that Renesmee is the definitive match for Jacob? All we get from SM on the feelings of the imprintee is "who can resist that level of devotion?" But I don't see that as a guarantee of Renesmee's feelings for Jacob. All we're presented so far in the books, is their current relationship as a babysitter and his ward. It's supposed to be platonic at this point. Who's to say in the future that she doesn't meet somebody else and fall in love with that guy? If that's the case, werewolf imprinting would move Jacob to the role of supportive, platonic Uncle Jake. But she would not be his perfect match. Any thoughts on that?

She shouldn't exist at all.
She shouldn't exist at all.
Brooke wrote: "She shouldn't exist at all"Oh, I absolutely agree. She shouldn't exist and for her to even be in the story is a monstrous plot hole.
It's just for the sake of discussion. For those who feel that she was Jacob's perfect mate - what makes them think that? I'm not sure I see it in the book, so I'm curious if somebody can point me in the right direction.
She is definitely not "Jacob's perfect mate."
What I havnt seen mentioned yet is that Bella and Jacob never would have worked out becuase Jacob did not imprint on Bella. Eventually history would have repeated itself like Sam and his current/ex girlfriend.
In what world should she end up with Jacob. I think her and Edward are made for each other. I do however think there should be a book that shows what her life would be like if she chose Jacob.

I agree, but just a what if story about Bella ending up with Jacob would be cool.

I don't mind who Bella ended up with. They are sweethearts in their own ways

Nonexistent.
Nonexistent.

If you're interested, here's one: From The Wings. Not Team Jacob, though. :) The author is very good, and has gone on to write original fiction.
