Lol, Bea. I copied and posted that from the Shelves Planning thread. Guess I forgot to change the post, lol.

Duh, you are right, so it still fits. Sorry. I was totally confused. :(

and "G" for a character's first name Gertrude Bell.

I don't believe that you need to reserve them in advance. Did you also post this on the Report thread?

Final ruling from Tien on the Character name:
Originally, I was looking for name in title where names are of characters which we may come across in everyday life. However, it has appeared that I have left too wide a margin & too subjective interpretations of what they may be which don't seem to be a good move on my part.
The following is the final revision to the intent behind 'name in title' with (hopefully) finite and clear enough boundaries:
Given Name (of a main character*) in title (No subtitle / series name) starting with the letter… A-Z
*For the purpose of this game, Main Character will be 'defined' as follows:
1. a person (have a human form or to at least hold a human form for at least 50% of the book); AND
2. at least 90% of the book is on this character; OR
3. the book being told from his / her perspective (first person) for part of the book.
PS: Happy New Year, everybody! :)
As I read this, Calpurnia Tate, Thursday Next, Don Quixote, and Bittterblue would all fit. The only one that would not fit is Skippy Dies since Skippy is not the main character's given name.

I'm done with A - book title and would like to reserve D-The Darkest hour-Maya Banks.

It's funny that you should post this right when we've been discussing character names. This is certainly not a name I would have expected as a real person's name (though I can see it's probably a variation of Katherine). Just goes to show how much variety there is in naming!

Don't forget to post on the Report thread when you have finished reading. I will be checking it later today to see what has been accomplished.

Skippy Dies is still listed under name in title, but it doesn't qualify. If you'd like, you can reassign it to author first name P and I will still read it for this tower.

First Word of Title: 'F' for Flowers In The Rain by Rosamunde Pilcher
D.G. ~Shameless Hussy~ wrote: "The title of the book I'm reading now starts with a U. Too bad it's my 1927 book!"
I bet we can come up with another "U" title more easily than another 1927 books!

That's why I'm using it for 1927! :)
I'd like to reserve O for author first name, please (Orson Scott Card). So far, I've only reserved 2 of my 3 allowed (message 10).
Susan wrote: "I think the is missing in message 5 again."
Thanks Susan. LOL, this time I put in an extra character. Stupid fingers ;P Good catch.

I'd also like to reserve C for the title category please. I'm going to read Confessions of a Shopaholic. Thanks. :)

Someone's already hit title "C," Jane.

Someone's already hit title "C," Jane."
Last name "K" would still work for Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella for Jane, though.

It was clear that's what you wanted, Jane. BUT somebody already read a book with a title starting with 'C' (it's not noted here but it is in the reporting thread) that's why Amy suggested picking something else.
Jane wrote: "I'd please like to reserve "first name of author: R" for Watership Down by Richard Adams.

Sorry, Jane. Someone hit C earlier. I am just updating now. But you could use that for Last Name K for Sophie Kinsella if you want.

They are correct, Jane. It IS possible for someone to report a book that has not been reserved as long as no one has reserved it by the time that they report it. I have been updating once a day as I am trying to wait for Tien to update the report thread to make sure things mesh, thus it was not posted here yet. I will put you down for last name K for Sophie Kinsella.
I'm sorry if the posting once a day is making it hard for people, but I am not online all day long.
Just FYI - I did not realize that people could report without reserving until the first person did it, which was probably one of the first few books, lol. I was definitely confused. :P

I'm terribly sorry. I was just confused because the spot was blank. I will totally pay more attention next time. I just joined and am trying to get this all figured out.
There is a little bit of an issue, though. Kinsella is reserved under first name, and that's the writer's last name... I'm sorry about all this.

Don't apologize at all. No worries. It is a confusing game, especially with people reporting and me not being able to update the same time that Tien updates the reporting thread. Totally not your fault. AND thanks for the catch on the Kinsella one, lol. I am trying to do this while watching the football game. My bad. :)
