Appearance: Karigan has brown hair and blue eyes. She's tall and slim. (Sorry for the lack of details, the author is really vague on her appearance)

Personality: Karigan is a bit headstrong. She was reluctant to become a Green Rider (the king's messengers) at first. She hasn't had the best of luck with relationships. She's in love with the king, who is far above her station and is engaged to another woman (he did that to avoid a civil war). Her job as a Green Rider is dangerous, but she can't do anything else unless the brooch that all Green Riders wear (gives them their magic powers) releases her. Before she was a Green Rider, she was a merchant's daughter. As all Green Riders have magical abilities, hers is the ability to become invisible. But when she uses it, she gets headaches.
