Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2328 comments Yes, I can understand that. Not having eaten for...what??? eight hours? It's amazing you can stand, much less run, jump, shout and climb. Better eat something quickly.

Lacey (crazdwriter) *I laugh when the kids sit down quickly and begin to eat. Sophia stops eating and sticks her tongue out at you then goes back to eating. I shake my head and begin to eat my own breakfast* You better sit down and eat, Mike, or they'll eat yours too.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2328 comments ....Hummm...well, if they need to.

* Mike sits down and makes a big production of pulling his steak and eggs close *

I'd hate to starve though.

And after breakfast, math computer games!!!

message 3554: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) *Sophia and Billy look up at you then each other* Only if they're fun!

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2328 comments ....you aren't interested in a game??? This game is an adventure. You need to figure out how to save people and planets and everything.

Well, I guess we can just work out of a book if you'd rather.

message 3556: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) Noooo! No books! *they both complained*

message 3557: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2328 comments No books....what do you think I read to you out of????

no books...sheesh.

I need to teach you guts better...I'm failing.

Lacey (crazdwriter) *I laugh at your conversation with the kids, shaking my head as I take a bite of my boysenberry syrup buttermilk pancakes.* They enjoy books very much som just not ones with too many numbers in them,

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2328 comments Ahh..well you two will learn. Now off we go.

* Mike leads them into one of the rooms he's set up with a gaming program. The kids are in an adventure where they travel through a land of bright colors and talking animals. They get puzzles and as they solve them they get rewards and new places to travel.

Not only do they "forget" they're learning, when they're called for lunch they plead for, "just a little longer".

Mike tells them they can play here often but there are other things to do and other things to learn. They seem less worried about "learning" now.
*

Lacey (crazdwriter) *I sit in the library reading while you playfully argue about wanting to play the games longer. I laugh to myself as I step our of the library and follow your voices to the mess hall.* What is going on in here?

message 3561: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2328 comments These two are so caught up in studying math they don't want to stop and eat.

* This stops both the children for an instant as they look into the game room in surprise. Then they seem to accept it with the innocent logic of childhood and say, "it's still fun".*

Well, we'll have more time for the game and even different games, but let's go eat now.

* Mike puts his arm around Lacy and pulls her close as they all head for the galley. He leans over...kisses her and then whispers in her ear.*

Now I need to get started on programs for general science, history and so on.

message 3562: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) *I cover my mouth and giggle as the two kids rush ahead to eat quickly and get back to the room and their games.* I to start with science next. Maybe a little botany or oceanography.

message 3563: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2328 comments Yeah. They need a founding in general science so we'll have to lead them in and find a way to give them what they need. I don't know if we can make it all into a game but for a while we can. Maybe we can get our thinking computer to help set the programs so the kids can slowly find where they have gifts.

* As the kids rush through the door ahead he takes the chance to kiss her long and gently holding her close. Then they follow the children into the galley. *

message 3564: by Lacey (new)

Lacey (crazdwriter) *I smile after the kiss and follow beside you, holding your hand. I watch as the kids quickly get back onto their computers, returning back to their games*

message 3565: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 2328 comments * The days pass with the kids enjoying themselves. With help of the living computer Mike begins work on a holograph-room where the kids can actually participate in the adventures getting exercise as they study.

Mike and Lacy steal time together as often as possible.

Finally they get to the jump point and enter their own system. It's a relief to see no ships in the system or apparent problems waiting. They should be home in a little over a day.
*

Lacey (crazdwriter) *I walk out of the training room, having just finished my pregnancy yoga for exercise since I couldn't go swimming yet at our waterfall. I check I on the kids then return to our room for a nice shower and to clean up before I come see how you and the computer were doing*
