End of the world
*I stay close to you, watching as you work. I peer over your shoulder and look down at my other self* Mike, what if it doesn't work and I'm stuck like this forever? Would you love a creature that isn't whole? Would Riddick?
Yes....* doesn't elaborate but squeezes her again*
* Mike keeps working and doesn't look up as he speaks*I wouldn't think I'd have to spell that out, you're supposed to be smarter than that.
*Tor snorts and pushes another piece towards you. I sit wearily down, the torn dress clinging to my body because of the rain* You never showed any signs that you liked me before...why now?
You need comfort, help. You hurt enough. I've always told you I cared for you. Riddick is obsessed with you and like I said, you don't need the pressure of me going beyond friendship. I'll do my best to be here for you always...not demand something of you.
*I pull up some dead flowers then let them fall from my hand. I look up as the pieces begin to seal themselves whole* But...if I and Riddick...wouldn't you feel a twinge of jealousy? *Tor paws the last piece into place and the other me lays unconscious in another realm, a mirror of this realm but more alive*
* Mike turns to Lacy...waits a beat and then holds her and kisses her. Seconds later he replies*I want whatever is best for you. If I care...err, if someone cares for another person he puts her first no matter how he may feels. I've lost people before. I still miss them and a part of some of them are still with me I guess. If...well I want your happiness. I want your heart to be whole.
Now lets pull you together...
*I blink surprised by the kiss but smile and look down at my other self. I kneel down next to the screen and gently touch the top of it, waves slowly sliding over the other me as my hand moves through it. I gasp and pull my hand free, moving back, scared*
Does it feel like...part of you? We're almost there. Tor seems to be sure of this.
*I move back to the screen and look down at myself.* It is me..just startled by how warm I feel in there...I'm use to the cold here. And I'm scared that it won't work.
I'll hold to you...We want you together.
*I look at you then nod but move farther from you so you can't touch me* if this doesn't work I don't want you to get hurt. *I quickly dart forward and kiss you before I move back, lean forward and reach in, grabbing my other self and pulling upwards. A bright light flashes, blinding you and Tor. When the light fades, I am no longer beside you*
Crap....* Mike dives toward the screen surface*
*The screen disappears under neath you. Slowly the flowers around you slowly begins to come back to life, the butterflies twitch then spring back into the air, their colors full and vibrant even more than before. The ladybugs fly past you, gently skimming past you before they landed on the quickly growing field. The rain stopped and the clouds moved to allow the most brightest blue sky to appear with a arm breeze to accompany the warm sun. Tor lets out a happy roar and turns to where the rock is. Standing on the rock is me, the dress replaced by a sea foam green tight fitting dress, my eyes seeming to be brighter than before. My wings are spread behind me but because of everything that had happened, they were no longer feathered but a beautiful sail of colors, looking like those that belong to a fairy. I smile as I look at you, flapping my wings a little*
Okay...way to scare a person to death.* Mike doesn't think but sweeps her up*
*I giggle and wrap my arms around your neck* Like my new wings? I think they are more me. I wonder if the eagle wings were just the first stage but these fairy wings are really mine. *I flutter them and they gently tickle your arms. I look into your eyes and smile* Thank you for coming for me, Mike. I'm sorry if I scared you. And I don't want to go to your planet that you told me about. I want to stay with you and Riddick and the dogs and cats and Tor. I don't want to go to the planet and be alone.
Maybe you wouldn't be alone.... I'm sorry. I know Riddick is in love with you and you love him. Don't worry about me Lacy. But as long as I can do it, am alive, I'll make sure you're not alone if I can.
*I smile and shake my head* Riddick and I tried to kiss, we talked about going out but when we kissed we found something out. He does love me..but as a sister not in the way you are thinking. He is scared for me because he cares for me as a sister.
Hummmm.....we'll see. I can't picture a man not falling for you. Just saying.
*I sigh and slip out of your arms, crossing my own over my chest, my wings fluttering then resting on my back* Maybe we should go...we still have the colonists to worry about. *I turn my back on you as Tor steps closer to me, head butting my leg with affection. I smile and kneel down, gently petting him on his head, Tor purring in response*
* Mike shakes his head wondering if he'll ever understand Lacy...or any female. He walks up quietly puts his arm around Lacy's waist *Okay...we need to get you and me back to our bodies I suppose.
* Mike blushes a little and looks forward<?I>*
I mean we need to wake up.
*I step away from you and nod* Yes I guess so. *I turn to look up at you then lo at Tor before I close my eyes and disappear from in front of you. Tor nudges you with his head, shaking his head. He whispers she likes you before he shoves you harder, forcing you back into your body. My eyes flutter open and I smile up at Riddick who sighs in relief, hugging me to him. He blinks and gently touches her news wings whistling*
Yes they're beautiful aren't they. Be good to her. When you feel better Lacy I'll meet you and Riddick in the galley. I should probably get these sweaty cloths off and shower.* Mike gets up and smiles at Lacy, then walks toward his quarters, the dogs and cats following in his wake.*
*I keep my eyes fixed on Riddick who glances back at you then back at me. I shake my head and burry my head into his shoulder. He gently pushes me back but doesn't say a word. We stand and head to the window and look at the other ship. I then turn away and head slowly for my room. Riddick watches me go before he goes to the front of ship. I enter my room and slowly lay down, curling up on my bed.*
* Mike showers, changes and walks to the galley. No one there. He goes to Riddick and felling a bit odd asks him about his feeling for Lacy. *
*Riddick looks at you, raising an eyebrow. He says that he loves me...as a sister. That he and I kissed but there were no sparks, only a mutual love for one another that wouldn't go anywhere. He asked you why but before you can answer I walk in clothed in a spaghetti strapped light blue top and short shorts with my boots.* Well the Doctor contact me. He's waiting for us on the planet. And he says that the animals and people on the other ship are welcome to in habitat the planet next to the one he is on. It needs people he says. Another paradise awaiting for newcomers he said.
Okay...but could I talk to you a few minutes, alone?
*I glance at you* I think we've talked enough. *I turn abruptly away and walk off my back straight and rigid* Oh it's also summer down there so bring comfy clothes and a swim suit. He's promised to take us somewhere nice to relax. I have to get the recorder from my room so I can give it to him. Let me know when we've landed. *Riddick looks at you asking you what I meant*
It means that good intentions can often go very wrong and that I'm somewhat of a fool.And that I don't really understand Lacy...
* Mike gets a Coke and then goes to his room. He puts on some lighter clothes (and his weapons) and heads for the shuttle bay. *
Lacy, we'll need to see if the colonists need any help getting their ship to drop their pods. The controls may need to be rigged.
*i emerge from my room and walk stiffly beside you* Well let's go back over there. I want to see if anymore e of those things are on there and give them a piece of my mind. *Riddick snickered as he fell in behind me wearing lighter clothes himself saying no pun intended. I turn on my heel to face m&m, walking backwards, stick my tongue out and turn, squealing as I run, Riddick chasing me. Tor steps in front of you and stops you, looking deeply into your eyes. He asks you if you are okay and if you really truly cared for me. You can hear me and Riddick laughing as he tries to catch me*
* Mike smiles at Tor and scratches his ears. Of course. I want her to be happy...I just never seem to know what that entails. Love is a funny thing Tor. *You two kids be careful...it's all fun and games till some body loses an eye!
* Mike arrives at the bay. *
I think we can land over there and drop the colonists. Then we can go down afterward if all goes well.
*Tor watches you walk away before he ruffles his wings and head back to my room for a cat nap. He thinks to you be there for her like you were in her mind and don't play games. They hurt her.*Well lets get over there. The colonists have island...no ship fever? Cabin fever? Whatever you call it they have it. *I say as Riddick carries me towards the ship over his shoulder. He grins and begins to tickle me, making me squirm and squeal with laughter.* Put me down...Riddick...Riddick! *I continue to laug as he continues to tickle me*
Right... sister.* The high speed shuttle soon docks with the coloney ship. *
*I punched Riddick in the shoulder before I step off onto the other ship. I move to the side and close my eyes, trying to sense other aliens. I sigh in relief and look at you* They're gone. We took care of all of them. *I smile at you before I turn away* Lets go get the colonists. I want to relax for a bit.
Okay... * As expected the controls have to be rigged but soon the colony section of the ship bearing the 5 waked members of the colony as controllers drops away and heads for the planet's surface. Mike looks around realizing that barring some other intervention this hulk of a ship will continue to orbit this planet. The engines will continue to keep the life support and gravity working for years, possibly decades. The controls burned, the crew dead the food in the recyclers will wait, the air will recycle and the lights will burn, waiting for a crew that will never return.It would simply orbit here, maybe for centuries. *
Lets go...we need to see what's going on down on the planet.
*I head back to the ship behind Riddick. I glance at you before I duck into the ship and get comfy.* I'm excited to see where the Doctor will be taking us to relax. And I'm curious about the planet itself.
* Mike sits in his accustomed place and engages the shuttle. As it exits the ship Mike circles the ship one last time before he heads for the surface. Mike can't shake the feeling of futility that seems to have settled over him since he thought about the ship. He's spent years fighting...well, evil. Now he's mutated into a somewhat hulking figure and the fight still goes on. As he pilots the shuttle down his mind wanders over the enemies he's faced, the battles he's fought and he wonders...briefly if he's made any headway. Then he decides the battle has gone on throughout all history and it will continue. He's was just one warrior in a long line of warriors. Time he thinks to crawl out of this depression. *
*I stare down at the planet as it comes closer and closer. I smile lightly when I hear a beep in my ear and I gently touch it* Hello Doc! Yes we're on our way. We will land in a few minutes. * I sit quietly and listen* Oh good. Thanks Doc see you soon. *I touch my ear again and take out a little device, transferring it to my pocket whee I also held the recorder.* He says welcome to his planet and that the colonists are landing now. They made it down safely and he also says to hurry up. He wants to take us swimming in his favorite pool. He's so impatient sometimes. *I giggle as I look back down at the approaching planet*
* We land and as we step out everything looks fine. Mike wonders if they should have brought the animals with them.Nearby a heard of deer heads into the trees...probably just out of the colony ship. *
*I smile as I walk off the ship, my eyes wondering around the area* it's even more beautiful than he described. *I look back at you, my eyes shining with excitement. I turn as the Doctor emerges from nearby bushes and hugs me. He welcomes us then pushes the trees back to reveal a pool of crystal blue water with a waterfall rushing down to keep it filled. I gasped and walk over to the water. I kneel down and run my fingers over the cool water surface while Riddick and the Doctor follow* You were right! I can definitely relax here. * I smile at you and the others before I turn to face the water. I slip out of my boots, socks, shorts and tank top, standing in front of you and the others in a bikini mixed of blues and greens. I then wade into the water a little bit then dive into the water. The Doctor clears his throat then turns and says he has business to attend to before he disappears. Riddick gently shoves you towards the water before he too disappears to explore a little*
Hi...nice bathing suit.*Mike changes on the edge of the pool. He folds his clothes and hangs his weapons on a tree limb and then dives in. he swims under the surface toward Lacy.
*I brush my wet hair from my face and turn to look at you, swimming in place.* Where did everyone go? Don't tell me I scared everyone off. *I giggled then stopped and looked back at you* I thought you would have left with them to explore the planet.
No...I'm more interested in what's right here.
*I blinked surprised by your comment* But...you said that Riddick and I...you ...*I look at you confused* You said that you will always be just my friend...
I will...I'll always be your friend, doesn't mean that's all I'll be.
*I stare into your eyes, my own still confused* Are you saying that you want to be more than just friends? You told me that you wouldn't want to be anything more than friends.
No...I said I didn't want to put you under any strain. I didn't want to put you in a conflict about how you feel, I didn't want....Oh crap.* Mike swims forward and crushes her to him in an embrace giving her a long deep kiss. *
*I gasp lightly against your lips, surprised by the sudden kiss. I close my eyes and return the kiss, may arms slipping my arms around your neck. I break the kiss and look into your eyes* Are you sure you want to be anything more than a friend with me? I attract danger you know. Plus people want me dead. *my voice was light yet serious*

* Mike begins to reassemble the "screen" pieces and to carefully fit one piece with another. He occasionally turns to hold Lacy for a few seconds and then goes back to work. *
