End of the world
The captain! He did this to the colonists...the aliens were feeding on the colonists..there were more than the ones we found. He began to grow a heart but it was already too late. The things we ran into were the bodyguards for them. *i eyes the oldies in front of us then looked back at you and Riddick* If we hadn't shown up, they and the animals on he would all be dead and these aliens would be on the planet WE are headed to. *I press my hand to my temple* I was ale to read his mind even though he was trying to get a hold of mine...I now have a migraine...I'm not going to be much help. I'm also dizzy and feel like I'm going to pass out.
Riddick...get her back to our ship and into sickbay * Mike squeezes Lacy's hand and smiles * Yes back to sickbay. Make sure nothing follows you back to the ship. I'll be sure everything in there is dead and burned. Then I'll get with the colonists. We need to know if we can fix the engine controls.
*I make a face* Great..my favorite room...*My eyes open wider and I gasp, my body suddenly convulsing. My head snaps back as Riddick tries to get a better hold on me. Before I collapse into darkness, I show you one last alien, the one who had tried to control me, standing in another room, having escaped before you had killed the others. My eyes stare up at the ceiling as my body relaxed, and I stopped breathing. Riddick shouts my name, shaking me as if I would simply wake up. He looks at you, panicked*
With me!* Mike rips the helmet from his battle armor off and quickly removes the rest of the suit. Quickly he removes the life support from inside the armor he opens Lacy's armor and rigs the life support to keep her heart beating and her lungs working. Riddick has to carry the power supply that would ordinarily be supported as part of the suit. Riddick lifts Lacy along with the support unit. Mike makes sure he's okay and Lacy is breathing. *
Okay with me.
* Mike and Riddick run through the ship and don't stop till they reach the airlock. Mike brings up the rear to be sure that no one and nothing follows. Then the get Lacy to sickbay, setting her up for complete Life support and isolate her systems. *
Riddick the computer is set for a complete scan. Try to keep her as isolated as possible in case this alien mind still tries to reach her. I've had enough.
* Mike calls the Ranger and asks how much cargo room they have and if they have any inflatable habitats on board.*
*Riddick gently brushes some hair from my face as he watches the screens, whispering in my ear to hang on. Tor runs into the room and jumps up on to the bed. He stares down at me them growls a low menacing growl. He leaps off of the bed and makes his way to the airlock, stands on his hind legs, hit the Teton, and runs onto the other ship. Riddick calls to you and tells you that Tor says just here and he thinks that Tor went to the ship. Tor pads towards the rooms, looking into each until he finds the one he was looking for. The alien reaches out for Tor's mind but Tor is able to fight him off. Tor then leaps, letting out a frightening roar as he takes down the alien, ripping into the alien who tries to fight off the young tiger, screaming in sheer terror. Tor returns to the ship, covered in alien dark green blood as he pads to where you are.* Dead!
Well...don't eat that Tor it may not be good for you.
*He grins at you* Tastes like chicken. There was another one too but I killed him too. Lacey? How is she?
We'll have to go back and see. I don't know how bad it was. We'll get right back.
*Tor whimpers as he turns and begins to walk back towards the sick bay. He stops in the door way where he watches Riddick, leaning close, still whispering in my ear and clinging to my hand. Tor cocks his head to the side and looks at you* When she told me about him, she never mentioned a soft side.
...the best of us have those.* Mike begins checking the readings on the instruments. *
*Riddick looks up from me, his eyes watching you as you look at the screens asking if there was any change*
Well...she's fighting the respirator so I think she'll be able to breath on her own. There's brain activity...I have an idea. Come here Tor.* Mike reaches out to Tor's mind and the two of them reach out to Lacy trying to wake her and help her back to consciousness on her own. *
*Tor moves closer to Mike, his eyes trained on me. He cocks his head to the side when there is a gate standing between you and him and me. He pushes through it and sees me sitting on a rock n the middle of a beautiful field full of wild flowers, a stream and dancing butterflies and ladybugs. I am wearing a white and blue dress that doesn't bother my wings and flows freely around my ankles. I look up and smile at the two of you* Mike? Tor? What are you doing here? I didn't know you two were coming to my field. Isn't it breathtaking here? I never want to leave.
Well...I can see why. * Tor curls up by Lacy's feet and Mike sits beside her with his arm around her*
I guess we all need a safe place now and then. Still if you stay too long then you might not be able to get back to the less pleasant universe where we all live. You scared us, we were afraid the damage might be permanent... But physically you're okay. I think the pain is just all the fighting. I guess it hurts you more then some of us.
* Mike squeezes her and Tor rubs his cheek against her leg*
I think you need to come back soon. Riddick is worried about you, so are Tor and I. Time to wake up, you can always visit your field when you sleep. And I'll get you a Dr. Pepper.
* Mike kisses her cheek and stands golding out his hand. Tor jumps up and looks at Lacy expectantly. *
*I look up at you and smile, sliding my hand into yours and stand, the dress moving around me like a wave. I look into your eyes and smile as my wings stretch a little then rest against my back* You can come here anytime you wish, too, Mike. I do sometimes hide here..but I know that I have to go back. *I look at the far side of the field where a huge screen sits, playing the horrific events that had happened to all of us during our trip.* I watch what happened to us...I wonder if there was anything that could have been done differently but then I understand...we wouldn't be who we'd are now if we didn't follow that path, right?*I look back at you and smile then lean in and kiss your cheek* I'm ready to go back. Are you?
Okay, and yes you're right. Did you ever read To Kill a Mockingbird? The neighbor tells Jem that God sends people to do the unpleasant jobs and that Jem's father is one of them I guess maybe we are to.* Mike wraps his arm around her and the two of them along with Tor walk back into the waking universe.
Mike comes back to himself, Riddick is still watching Lacy intently. *
*My eyes flutter open and I smile up at Riddick* Hey there handsome...did I miss anything? *I gently rake a finger down his cheek*
Well, according to these readings you are in good shape, so why don't you two get cleaned up and grab something to eat * Mike sets a Dr. Pepper down by the bed* and drink.We have to get back with those colonists. I don't doubt they're scared to death with all this going on and it's quite likely they're still in a dead ship.
Oh, and we still have to be sure this planet is still safe and there hasn't already been some alien infestation of the surface.
* Looks over at Lacy as he heads out to rearm and get his chain-mail as the battle armor is in pieces on the other ship*
Uhh, Lacy next time you see the Doctor let him know that he and I disagree on the definition of a "safe planet". * Mike winks, smiles and goes on out*
[night back tomorrow (God willing)]
*Riddick helps me sit up and I laugh, shaking my head as I slide off the bed and pick up the drink with a shaky hand. I sip a little as Riddick walks me back to my room. I enter, leaving Riddick outside my room, and quickly strip. I step into the shower and let the hot water fall down over my body, my body still shaking from the latest attack*(Night hope you come back tomorrow too...we have colonists to save lol)
* Mike calls back from the other ship.*Well, the engine controls here are cooked. I managed to get the life support back up before the air became unbreathable and the gravity is working. The engines themselves I think are alright but I'm not an engineer. If the planet below isn't suitable for colonization we'll have to tow them as far as a repair station. I'm not sure we can make a jump while towing, the Ranger ships are small, fast and well armed but I don't know if they can tow a colony ship.
I've left the bulk of the colonists in cold sleep. The other 5 are confused but seem to be telling the truth. I think based on the hand written log that the captain took a bribe...a huge one to take these people and their animals where they never expected to go. It also looks like he and his crew were thought to be expendable. Still haven't found any hint of who that is.
Do we know any more about who or what lives on this planet?
*I step out of the shower, dry off except for my hair, and moved to my bed where I could communicate with you.* I haven't gotten a hold of the Doctor yet. I'll try again as soon as I get dressed. Riddick and I will join you as soon as I have talked to the Doctor. If I can't get a hold of him, I'll still come over and try there.
What about the sensors and probes? Do we know what the planet has on it? Are there any colonies down there now? How about animals are there any animals we can spot?
I'll check in a moment. Like I said I need to get dressed since I just got out of the shower. I'll bring the read outs with me once I'm dressed and ready to go.
Okay, or you can wait. I can come back. The 5 over here are settled in compartments and they have power and life support, they just can't move their ship. Go ahead and get dressed, I'll head back that way.You alright?
*i force a light laugh* I'm okay...why wouldn't I be? I'll meet you at the airlock so we can go check out the readings together. See you soon. *I click off the com, or so I had thought, and sit on my bed, burying my face into my hands, my shoulders shaking as I cried*
* Mike takes the Transparent flex-pipe back to the airlock of their ship and just before he enters the ship he notes what looks like one of the alien creatures outside in space clinging to the hull of the ship. *Lacy you still by the communicator?
*I wipe the tears from my eyes and stand. I quickly change and walk back to the bed* Yes...I'm still here. Are you back already? I was just finishing getting ry and I'll be there in a moment.
Wait...go to the control room and shift the sensors to the outside of the ship itself. We've got at least one of those things on the ship...outside in vacuum. I don't know how they live in vacuum, but they seem to survive. Let's hope there's only the one.I'm right at the airlock, I'll be right in.
*My eyes open wide* One outside....how? I'll go get Riddick...* my voice faltered then my hand shot to my head and I screamed, dropping to the ground and curling into a ball. I continue to scream , covering my ears* Get out of my head....get out...get...out...
* Mike having just come in through the airlock hears screaming and arrives as Riddick carries Lacy back into sickbay. Tor is trying to help, *Crap! I didn't think the little ones could even be felt in her mind... alright I'm headed out of the ship take care of her till I see what's out there and...and kill them.
* Get's into an atmosphere suit (his battle armor having been dismantled). He takes the gas powered weapons for vacuum and exits the ship. He shoots a "creature" quickly as it rounds the ship's hull, then continues to search for other things manually. *
*I collapse against Riddick, breathing hard then just as suddenly I begin to scream again, blood sliding out of my nose, ears, and mouth. Riddick contacts you, saying that there has to be another one because it was killing me. Tor whimpers telling you that he can't help me...this one had a stronger mind than the last two he had fought...that it felt female, maybe the Queen of the aliens*
Can you get a direction? I don't see anything on our ship... See if Tor can get a direction from her mind...and ask him if he can help her block her mind off. Lacy seems to be very sensitive.
*Tor shakes his head as he continues to try and help me. My eyes suddenly grow wide and I grit my teeth against the pain. I then 'push' with my mind. You feel a sudden force of wind against you, moving around you quickly. From behind you, you hear a scream, clawing of nails then the s madman growing farther away from you. You turn to see the Queen being pushed away from the ship by the mysterious wind that didn't affect you, only that you could feel it. The queen reaches back towards the ship but is already too far away. Then suddenly the scream is cut off with an explosion, the Queen exploding into nothing. I cough and spit up blood all over Riddick's face then collapse, my eyes staring at nothing. Riddick yells out in surprise and quickly hooks me up to the monitors, tears streaming down his face as he reads them. In a shaky voice he tells you that I have slipped into a coma.*
Well....that was interesting. How is she Tor, can you reach her now.
*Riddick glances over at Tor who nods but looks sad. Riddick nods and tells you yes but he needs help.*
Alright I be in...* Mike soon arrives in the room and begins to make sure lacy has all the life support possible. Then checks her vitals. *
*Riddick stares down into my open eyes, holding my hand, and looks up at you. Tor nudges your leg and tells you that you aren't going to like what you see once we enter my mind*
Okay then Tor. * Mike tells Riddick what's going on, sits down and with Tor's help tries to enter lay's mind. *
*Tor pulls you into my mind, stopping at the front gate. The gate that was once was magnificent now was rusted and old, one swinging on a broken hinge. Tor looks at you then leads you farther in. The beautiful field was now dead, littered with dead bodies of butterflies and ladybugs. The screen that had held the pictures of my mind was shattered and scattered on the burnt ground underneath. The sky above was gray, with lightning streaking past from time to time, a light rain falling. I sat on the rock, the beautiful dress now grungy, ripped, muddy and old looking. My wings lay broken against my back, feathers scattered around on the rock and by my feet. My skin is pale and my hair stuck to my neck from the rain. My eyeshadow is running down my cheeks from the rain and my tears and my lips were stained red from my blood. I lift my eyes a little from where I was starting at a dead butterfly but I don't look at you*
*Mike leans forward and kisses Lacy while holding her hands and then embraces her while whispering comforting words.*I should have taken you back long ago. Your mind and powers are growing, but you can't shield yourself. Don't worry. We'll leave as soon as you wake.
* Mike squeezes her and holds her weight so he won't fall. *
I think I know a place where you can rest. It's a small planet, low gravity but no intelligent species. Lots of animals. The only danger are the animal predators, not the humanoid ones. Just rest a while and I'll stay here with you.
Remember Riddick is in love with you...we both have to remember that. No more pressure for you Lacy, no more fights or stress. It will be alright.
*I lift my cat eyes to look at you, the once bright green now very faded. I blink slowly then lay my head against you* He doesn't love me....no one does... *Tor flinches at the words lowering his gaze saying that it seems like I'm broken. I look at him.* Broken....I guess I am broken.... *I smile sadly*
* Mike strokes her back (between her wings) and assures her she is loved. He also assures her that Riddick loves her.*He's obsessed with you Lacy. You know if someone else loved you and he'd seen you set aside a ring and knew that Riddick was in love with you, he'd most likely not say anything as that would just put more pressure on you.
* Mike's embrace grows closer and he tries to transmit comfort to her...*
He'll just get bored of me and leave me...*i close my eyes and allow ou to hold me, my body shuddering slightly*
No way anyone will ever get tired of you...
*I smile and look up at you* You are sweet, Mike....you don't have to be sweet to me. *Tor looks at the shattered screen and moves over to it, staring into the pieces. He looks up then back down roaring for you to come see what he sees*
*Mike turns to look where Tor directs keeping his arm around Lacy.*
*Tor stares down at the pieces telling you that I was in there too. That somehow I was trapped in the screen as well, split in two. My stronger side was trapped in the shards. I lift my eyes to you, fear in them.* I'm in two places?
Well, lets put you back together...how can I help?
*Tor nudges the pieces with his nice telling you that the pieces need to be put back together then you would have to pull my other half out*

* Riddick begins dragging Lacy back as Mike Holsters one weapon and begins to throw something into the room. He steps back, slams his hand on the door control but two of the "creatures get through first. Mike and Riddick both fire into them as a dull "WHUMP!" comes from inside...and we feel the ship shake. Intense heat actually radiates through the door. The creatures are down and Mike quickly pulls small devices which he drops into the bodies...they also begin to burn.
Mike kneels down next to Lacy...Riddick quickly moves in and cushions Lacy's head... *
Are you better? That should burn anything in there. Of course the engine controls will probably be trashed. That could effect where the colonists end up.
