*I grab some gloves that I had stored in a bag around my waist along with a flashlight since it was a bit on the dark side* I'll go see if there are anymore bodies like this. *Without waiting for a response, I walk away, entering the first room I come to. Riddick looks down at the body, also getting his own gloves out since he only wears black pants and a black tight tank top. He takes off his goggles and begins to take a look around himself*
Stay with her will ya? Who knows what's around the next corner...I'd rather she not get eaten or smash anything that attacks her without knowing what she can do...
*Riddick glances at you, raising an eyebrow, commenting on how I find trouble quite easily. He begins to follow me then stops and looks back at you, saying he had a quick question for you. He cocks his head to the side and asks you plainly if you liked me...in a way more than friends, like a crush. He wasn't beating around the bush as he eyed you*
....is this really the best time to bring that up? Anyway, I don't think she needs anymore drama in her life.* tricorder beeps. Mike triggers communicator *
Okay...no pathogens, air's clean... Our corpse seems to have died of strangulation. Watch yourselves, we may have someone...or I suppose something that strangles people.
*He crosses his arms and glares at you, saying it is the right time because he has seen how you looked at me and he wants to know. I shine my flashlight around the room I was in, noting a few picture up on the wall and seeing that I was in a bedroom. I slip the mask from my face, having forgotten that you had said to keep it on and looked closer at the pictures. Riddick made sure to stand in your way until you answered the question*
I'm not going to bother Lacy with that kind of interest...you understand? She doesn't need that. You'll have to make your own decision...now get out of my way. You may be a born warrior but right now you're endangering Lacy, us and our ship. You don't want to to do that.Now let's go.
* Lacy hears a rustling sound in above the ceiling of the crew quarters she's in*
*Riddick leans closer and tells you about my fear of dying alone then turns and makes his way towards the room I was in. My flashlight shoots upwards as I listen for the noise. I flutter upwards to the ceiling so that I could get closer to hear better. I lean my ear up against the ceiling, my wings fluttering silently so I could still hear*
* Possibly something moving but you can't be sure...the sound is getting fainter as if growing more distant. Mike calls to Lacy through door...as Riddick stands just beneath Lacy. *
Lacy, did you notice this? The corridor across the hall leads to a cryogenic...well a cryogenic wing it looks like. There seem to be a large number of....let's see, yes humans. I don't have a count but this seems to to have been some kind of colonization ship.
* Mike looks a few minutes longer bringing up records on a screen by the door.*
Yeesss....cattle, dogs, cats, deer, swine, sheep, birds, fish....all kinds of animals and they seem to be Earth specific. Wonder if they were headed here? There doesn't seem to be any crew..well any living crew.
*I look down at Riddick and let myself float back down to him. He catches me and puts me down. I walk into the other room and lean against you, looking at the screen* There is something alive on here... I just heard it walking around up above me in the other room. I couldn't read it's mind. Can you?
Hummm????? Oh no, I don't sense anything.* Looks up and around as if breaking away from a train of thought*
*I cock my head to the side as I look at you* Mike, are you okay? You seem distant all of a sudden. *Riddick cocks his head to the side as he looks at you*
Yes I'm just interested here. We have a ship full of people in cryo...but no crew. Odd* Slithering noise overhead again*
*Riddick pulls out his gun and aims it up at the ceiling. I look upwards and quickly flutter up, trying to find a way to get up inside so I can see what is making the noise* it sounds...like a snake maybe? *looks back down at you then catches the look of an meaning to an air duct and quickly fly over to it.* I can fit! *I climb inside before Riddick can grab me. He curs under his breath and looks at you, his eyes saying now what?*(Heading to bed night)
*I poke my head back out and look down at you.* What? I'll be all right just let me take a look.
* Something out of the darkness behind her latches onto Lacy's foot and lower leg...it feels like several living ropes. When she reaches for it's mind she finds nothing but what feels like huge....blank. Maybe an "alien blank"...her muscles start to cramp. *
*I turn and lash at it with my claws, screaming as the cramping gets worse. I kick with my other leg, trying to force it to let go.* Mike...
* Mike and Riddick both rush forward...Riddick stiff arms Mike knocking him aside, reaches up and drags Lacy from the duct. Wrapped around her leg is a strange looking creature. It looks something like a cross between a squid and some kind of slug.As Riddick pulls Lacy free and pulls her over his head the "thing" drops off her leg and onto the back of Riddick's neck, wrapping it's tentacles around his neck and plastering it's body along his spine. *
*I cling to Riddick as he holds me, my eyes wide when I see it grab onto Riddick.* Mike! It's attached to Riddick's back...what is it! Get it off!
* Mike rushes around behind Riddick as he stands rigid. Suddenly Riddick hurls Lacy away, snatches a large knife and swings around slashing at Mike. The blade rakes across Mike's ribs and the force of the blow drives him back. Lacy hears the blade crunch on Mike's armor. Riddick never slows but draws a weapon and fires a green bolt of some kind at Mike. It detonates and blows Mike even farther back down the corridor. *
*I scream and launch myself at Riddick. I grab him from behind digging my claws into him, easily picking him up, and throwing him away from you. I then run to where you were, tears streaming down my face.* Mike! Mike! Mike please please be okay.
* Riddick tumbles across the floor. He recovers and stands snapping off another shot that explodes over Lacy and Mike's heads. Riddick moves but he's staring ahead and moving in an odd way. *
*I pull you close to me and turn to face Riddick keeping low so that my body blocks yours from any shot taken at us.* Riddick, please...fight it. Remember you a meaner and tougher than any alien. You wouldn't let the Necromongers take you so don't let that stupid alien do it!
* He shakes his head...his eyes almost clear for a few seconds, he manages to speak but sounds strange: sooo strong, so much, run...or kill me.... His eyes cloud again and he raises his weapons moving forward. *
I won't kill you, Riddick! You're my friend! *i launch myself forward, slamming into him, pushing him backwards as I clawed at the creature on his back* Get off of him! *I reach around Riddick and sink my fangs into the alien, growling in my throat*
*Riddick plunges his knife into Lacy's side and fires past her at Mike's inert body. Lacy feels the creature squirm in her mouth..*
*my teeth clenches tighter even as I feel my blood seeping out over the knife and Riddick's hand. I sharply yank my head to the side ripping the alien off of Riddick, crushing it in my mouth before I let go and collapse to the ground.* Mike...Riddick...*my eyes roll up and I slump on the ground, not moving*
* Riddick falls to the floor next to Lacy and for a few minutes all is quiet. Mike comes around and drags himself up the burn on his back from the blaster or whatever it was shrieking. He makes his way to Lacy and Riddick. Riddick is unconscious Lacy is injured but Mike is able to stop the bleeding. The damage is mostly muscle and minor but probably hurts quite a bit.Mike suddenly hears several "plopping" noises and looks up in time to see 3 more of the creatures have dropped to the floor from the open duct work. He fires quickly blowing them apart but hears more sound from the opening.
Quickly he drags Lacy and then Riddick back to the airlock and closes them in. Lacy has begun to moan. *
*I slowly open my eyes, flinching, confused at where we were* Riddick? Mike? *My voice is soft and full of pain* Please...Mike be okay *i whisper under my breath*
I'm fine...Riddick's alive...and this ship seems to be some kind of, hive. These things don't show up on sensors I can't feel them or sense them... We need to get Riddick into sickbay. He's alive but that's all I know.
*I focus on you before I turn my head away and throw up blood then lean back, breathing hard from the pain and throwing up* I bit one..killed it but..I don't feel so good. *I look over at Riddick, gently touching his still arm, my own hand still covered in my blood shaking.* We'll need to destroy the ship...
We can't...probably why it's still floating out here. There are hundreds of frozen colonists not to mention live stock and wild animals. The people are still alive. Probably them being frozen is all that kept them from being...ridden by those things.Maybe I should get you and Riddick back to sickbay, get my wounds tended and come back here to capture one. If we can find a gas or something that kills them we could pump it into the ship.
*I move closer to you, gently pressing my hands against your wounds. Without asking, I close my eyes and cleared my mind, even though I felt sick. A light glow emits from my hands and your wounds heal. I smile at you* I'm glad your okay...I was so scared...
Thanks....* Mike looks uncertain* How are your wounds? Any effects from biting the...slug thing?
I don't know...besides feeling sick I can't tell...but I do feel tired all of a sudden. And it's not from me healing you... *I jump when one of the creatures launches itself against the door with a sickening pop* They're trying to get in...
Well, no sign of acid or anything...but to be safe let's get back to our ship and undock till we decide what to do.* We move back to the ship and go straight to sickbay.*
*I help you lay Riddick on the bed and get him hooked up to the machines. Once done, I sit on the ground next to the bed, suddenly dizzy, pressing my hand to my head* It was horrible, Mike...I tried to get through to them and there was nothing...no anger, no happiness, no hate...no love...nothing.
Hummm so the term totally alien fit s here. * Mike is moving you to an examining table as he speaks.* Okay hang on...blood chemistry, total body scan....don't move, smile.
*I don't look at you, staring up at the ceiling, a sad look in my eyes* Wish I could feel nothing... *I don't dare make eye contact with you, keeping my eyes on the ceiling *
* Mike checks tests to see if Lacy has been injured by her contact with the alien. *
*I turn my gaze to look at Riddick then back to the ceiling. Slowly, my emotions begin to fade as my heart though still pumping seemed to turn to stone. I look confused for a moment at the strange feelings inside then the confusion evaporated and my eyes and face become expressionless. Tor walks in suddenly very agitated*
Hummm....I think we have some odd chemicals in your blood here...wait, let give you a stimulant. Maybe we can push those out...How do you feel?
*I shrug my shoulders* I feel fine...it's nothing. Let's go grab one of the alien things and in out how to kill it. *I pull off the machinery and get off the bed, stalking out of the sick bay. Tor looks at you and whines*
Wait, wait, wait...did you hear me? you have odd chemicals in your blood stream. We need to know what they are doing to you before we get into a risky situation.
*I wave my hand* Whatever! *I quickly step into the airlock before you have the chance to catch up with me and lock you out. I then press the button to enter the other ship and walk into the ship, the creatures having vanished once they found out they couldn't get to me.*
Well....not herself. * Mike changes ammo in one weapon and turns to Ranger* Keep an eye on Riddick...better tie him down with some strong straps.* Mike goes carefully back into other ship*
*I only glance back once to see you had followed me then walked back into the room where we had been first attacked. I stand under the air duct, readying myself to go inside*
Don't do that you know that there were creatures in there earlier. Now if you're still thinking you must realize that you're not acting like yourself. We need to find out what's causing it.
*I glance back at you* Why? I know what is wrong or I should say what is right with me...I have no feelings...I don't feel anything for you, for Tor..for anyone. I'm finally free of my emotions.
