Actually it started out as Mahonnaise. It became Mayonnaise due to an uncorrected typo in an 1841 cookbook.
The McFrench are always confused about spelling, or was it which side of the channel they lived on?
Could you guys make your avatars even more similar? There are still a few details that don't match.

Nope. It's a nickname (well, Pie) and also the first two letters of my last name. I did that to differentiate between me and the other Sarahs around here. In school I was stuck with Sarah P since there were always three or four Sarahs in all my classes. I prefer Pi to P.

Pi makes me think of Life of Pi and Pi in mathematics (used to calculate area of circles). It sounds great.

I always want to call Sarah Pi, Pi-diddy. I refrain but it takes all I got.
Irrational numbers make me think of imaginary numbers and complex numbers:
