Phoenix (Online Elf) | 4358 comments Catherine, I've double-checked your book. (Unfortunately, this is not something I will be able to do most weeks, possum. You were lucky I managed to find the book while I was browsing library shelves).
This time though, I've noticed that there are a few backstory scenes that take place in a war zone, so you have been awarded 3 points for plot, and 1 point for shelf.

Dami (Damiellar) (damiella) | 97 comments I've had a quick look and one of the obvious choices is Fifty Shades of Grey (as I've actually never read it) - author / artist link (and a shelf link as well) but I promised myself that I wouldn't read it

I'm thinking Laid Bare - Lauren Dane with a link to the song title / book title. I'm hoping that I'll get a link with the handcuffs in the video clip for a plot point link as well

message 110: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Laid Bare is a good choice. I may have to use that. Once again this morning my computer is acting wonky and I don't have time to dig before I go to work. I'll look at the shelf and see what I can find while my class watches the rest of The Temptations.

message 111: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ Grrrr getting disgusted can't think this morning! Like Damiellar mentioned above Fifty Shades of Grey would be kinda obvious choice and I haven't read it yet but gonna look a bit more first.

message 112: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I'll be honest and say I think I'm going to go with a book published in 1993. I've read the first 50 Shades and don't care to read the others (not to mention I read it when it was fanfiction)

I think I'll go with one of these...

Ice & Rapture by Connie Mason Thunder & Roses (Fallen Angels #1) by Mary Jo Putney Bewitching by Jill Barnett Arrow to the Heart by Jennifer Blake

message 113: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ OK I am pretty sure I have found what I am going to read but wanted to ask if the following would work as well....

For Cover (2 Points) - On Cover is a pretty ladies dress and all video showed were dresses

For Plot (3 Points) - the lady in my book kidnaps and holds a man captive and they have passionate love and in the lyrics it has "This bed is on fire
With passionate love"
and in the lyrics it seems "she" is obsessed with bossing the guy around and doing what she wants and heck with what he wants....

message 114: by Dami (new)

Dami (Damiellar) (damiella) | 97 comments I've just finished Laid Bare and I'm thinking I could do better for links. I'm thinking I'll brood on it and see if anything else grab me before I write up my review.

(and possibly borrow someone else's inspiration)

message 115: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Jennifer, I would say the plot works. Not sure about the dresses though. I'll let someone else answer that.

Christal | 90 comments This is kind of a weird one. I'm going to have to do some searching on this. Hopefully I'll have something by the end of the day.

message 117: by Christal (new)

Christal | 90 comments After an unfruitful search, I'm going to bite the bullet and read Fifty Shades Freed. It has cover, plot, shelf, and name for a total of 11 points.

Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3) by E.L. James

message 118: by JenniferJ (last edited Jan 11, 2013 11:33AM) (new)

JenniferJ after much searching I have settled on Captive of My Desires for the following points

Setting - 1993---------------6 Points
Name - James (character)-----5 Points
Plot - the lady in my book kidnaps and holds a man captive and they have passionate love and in the lyrics it has "This bed is on fire With passionate love" and in the lyrics it seems "she" is obsessed with bossing the guy around and doing what she wants and heck with what he wants---3 Points
Cover - Dress On Cover--------2 Points

The Cover has not been approved yet but I just re-read the lyrics and it does have "women's clothes" in them.....

Dami (Damiellar) (damiella) | 97 comments I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet as well as the best I can get for Laid Bare is 7 points (4 - Title + 3 - Plot (used to be together move back together after heroine had to deal with stalker))

I'm just downloading Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2) by E.L. James

1 - shelf link
2 - mask on cover links to masks in video clip
3 - plot - obssessive, passionate love
5 - author's name matches artist's name

11 points is better than 7... I can do this...somehow

Fifty Shades Darker - E.L. James
Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2) by E.L. James
Rating: ★★
Finished: 12-Jan-2013

Review:

Ok.. well I read it. I will say that I felt no connection with either Ana or Grey. As the saying goes I'd slap Ana silly except she already is. The character of Grey was definitely not fleshed out. At the most he was two-dimensional. At times I found myself thinking "it's about time for Grey to " and sure enough, next paragraph there you are.

You know how a good book can sweep you along so that the pages almost seem to turn themselves. This wasn't like that.

Each sentence felt like a chore. It was soooo hard to keep my attention on this. The only good thing about it is that I don't feel in the need for Brain Bleach (that's all that saves it from a one star rating)

Links:

SHELF - on "Obsessed Hero" shelf
COVER - mask on cover matches masks in video clip
PLOT - Song is about obsessive, passionate love as is this particular book (even if I personally think it's been done a lot better)
NAME - singer's name "James" matches author's surname (E.L. James)

Individual points: Shelf(1) + Cover(2) + Plot(3) + Name(5) = 11 points

I'll look some out...I have a weakness for BAD fiction but they're not exactly the kind of thing that the name sticks in your head.

I loved the first one and absolutely hated the third one. Why on earth are they making a movie out of them? They are not movie material. It'll be horrible

message 136: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments For them to make a movie it'll have to be XXX rated. There's no way they can make an R rated movie out of this lol I think it will be horrible too.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Arrow to the Heart by Jennifer Blake

Rating: 4 stars
Review: Jennifer Blake writes great gothic bodice ripper type romances. She puts twists and turns in the story that keep you guessing till the end of the book.

In this one, the heroine, Katrine, is married to Giles. He's older than her and unable to have chlidren so he decides to hold an old fashioned knight's tournament with jousting and fencing and the such. The winner gets....to sleep with Katrine and get her preggo so Giles can have an heir. Katrine is totally against this. Well, in comes the hero, Rowan. He wins the tournament but has ulterior motives for being there in the first place; his brother was killed on Katrine's plantation the year before and he wants answers. Giles is so obsessed with Katrine having a baby he goes so far as to drug her and trap her naked in a tower with Rowan. Rowan and Katrine fall in love and the get their HEA, but it's not without complications and surprises galore.

Book: Captive of My Desires by Johanna Lindsey

Finished: 1/13/13
Review:
I'm sorry but it was all I could do to get thru this book. It was just quite boring and dragged then on parts that I may have enjoyed reading like Gabrielle's time spent with her father it skipped over and quickly advanced us into the future.

I didn't really care for any of the characters one way or the other but I especially never took a liking to James who to me always came off snooty although he used to be a pirate himself. The only time I really got excited about the entire story was when Gabrielle kidnapped James's brother in law because she needed his ship but also because she had decided he was the man she wanted to marry and for shaming her at one of her high society parties she felt she owed him some payback and humiliation of her pirating his ship.

Links:

PLOT: Woman so oncessed with making man her husband she kidnaps him, pirates his ship, and has passionate love with him at sea!
NAME: Has character named James.

CaroB, have you read Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners series that starts with The Siren? I haven't personally read them but one of my fellow book bloggers absolutely adores them and says they are much better than FSoG.
