question
Who is enjoying the power?

As said in the book, the higher one goes in the party hierarchy, the more insane, doublethinker and liar one has to be. Then who is enjoying the permanent inequality of society? Is the inner party really "enjoying"?

The Party members live a quasi-monastic existence. They may not marry, nor have families, pass perks on to their relatives and indeed they strictly own no possessions. At one point, O'Brian states that Proles have many privileges the members of the Party are denied. In short, no one benefits from the Party. The Party- an abstraction- exists for its own sake, a perpetual "boot ground into the face" of Humanity.
