Shannon Sansom (sansomshannon60gmailcom) | 5 comments ok, I've read the whole series (I thought), some more than once. But I'm confused on something: in a couple of the books Eve and Roarke discuss that both their fathers were involved with Max Ricker and may have known each other. I can't remember reading that--does anyone know which book that was in?

message 2: by Teryl (new)

Teryl I was thinking it was in a novella, the one where they went off planet and a guy was murder. There was some high up military guy in the story too. I could be wrong though, it has been a few years since I read that one.

LadyCalico I could be wrong--stranger things have happened--but the relationship between the fathers, and then each with Max Richer, were explored through several different books. I believe the one that explores it the most fully is Divided in Death, but I would have to reread the whole series to find out for sure.

Vanessa (vanessamc) | 646 comments Teryl and Lola,

I think you're both right. I think Interlude in Death is the novella - I think there's some of it in Divided and Reunion as well. I can't remember exactly which one had Max Richer in it though. It might be Reunion.

LadyCalico Judgment in Death was the one where Richer was the main bad guy--as well as Promises.

Vanessa (vanessamc) | 646 comments Thanks, Lola, Judgment in Death is actual one of my favorites - I just get them all mixed up in my head sometimes.

LadyCalico LOL, same here. I forget practically everything as soon as I read another book. Just coincidentally I had been trying very unsuccessfully to remember which book had the first Max Richer arrest, and skimmed all my books from Rapture onward until I found it. While skimming Judgment I noticed how really good that one was and re-read it, so it was fresh in my mind when Shannon started this thread. I also added it to the "Favorite Book in the Series" list. I thought of starting a thread of "The Most Vile Villains" but some of them are too vile to think about--I'd rather think positive about the "Best of...s." I really need to read both this series and the Evanovich number series from beginning to end.

This is my 2010 Audio Book Goal. LOL

Vanessa (vanessamc) | 646 comments I just re-read the first four over the past few months, but now I need to refresh my memory before I go on to the next. I believe there is some kind of time-line on Wikepedia, but for those who have not read the books, they need to be careful because I saw a list of all the bad guys. But for those of us who have read it several times, it's a help. I need to go back and look at it again.

LadyCalico Well, that sure answers all the questions! The time line is found under "Eve Dallas" but lots more details are given if you look under "In Death Characters." Definitely a Spoiler Alert.

I believe it was Purgatory In Death that had Max Ricker in it. That's the one about the police officer who got killed in Roarke's club and Eve finds out that a cop is out there killing other cops who were responsible for the death of his son because Max Ricker was whispering to the right ear that these cops were on the take and let the son die on purpose. But then it was Divided in Death with Reva where Roarke goes through Homeland Security to find out that Max Ricker did indeed know Eve's father because Homeland had been watching Ricker when he met Eve's father in Dallas a few days before Eve killed him.

I've read this series numerous times so I'm pretty good with the trivia. I hope I'm not sounding too know it all though!

Diana,

I believe Purgatory was the name of the club that Roarke owned, and no, you do not sound like a know-it-all; suggestions, answers and opinions are always welcome here.

Kate | 6 comments I am currently listening to Divided in Death and Roarke has found out more information about the fathers relationship. I do remember that it was mentioned earlier but this is the first book that I remember discovering specifics.

In Naked in Death Eve told Roarke that she had been sexually abused by her dad. In Immortal in Death Eve remembered that she killed her father because he both physically and sexually abused her. In Divided in Death she Roarke finds out his name, I think in this book he finds out his father had known Eve's father, and that homeland security knew she was getting abused and chose to do nothing about it.
