What's The Longest Book You've Ever Read?

Yeah I agree.. Most long books get boring after awhile and I find that I don't focus as much as I would have with a shorter book. Although like Jacquelyn said, I do feel like I get more for my money. And don't get me wrong, I have read a good amount of really good books that are big. Although, I do prefer shorter books.
The longest book I have read was
which was 766 pages in the hardcover edition.

I came up with this topic while looking up the longest book known to history. One book came up and it was over 4,000 pages and over 1,000,000 words! It was in the Guinness World Records Book for being the longest book in history!
Oh my gosh. I don't think I could ever read a book that long unless it was the best book in history. I just don't think I could do it.. Lol

I can't imagine! That would take me forever to a) read the book and then b) write a book review! It surely cannot be done. Lol

I recently tried to get through

I think I've read almost all of Stephen King's books and, so far, he's really the only author that can write a long book and keep my attention and have me wish there were still more pages..... :)

oooh I haven't read under the dome yet! how was it??

Anna Karenina took me quite a while, months...because I really dislike the book...I just read like 35 or 40 pages a day and just made myself pick it up every day.

Jacquelyn go read them now! They are really good!! :D

575 pg (although I think my version was longer) also just in case you don't k..."
lol... Thanks for the heads up :)

Jacquelyn, I think it took me two weeks to read The Stand, about the same for It (I forgot to add that one) and maybe 4 or 5 days for Under the Dome. I couldn't put that one down :)

I don't remember HP 7th's page count. I was supposed to answer that but then I saw your post so maybe THIS is the longest book I've ever read.

I want to read this one so bad! We should buddy read it :)

Oh I love that series! What did you think?

11/22/63 was awesome!
Here are some of my longest novels (not counting series) which all happen to be Stephen King. :) And I've read them all multiple times! In my opinion, the longer the better. When I arrive at the bookstore and I see that the one I'm going for is gigantic it's almost a feeling of exultation that passes through me, ha ha.
The Stand: 1,153 pages
It: 1,138 pages
Under the Dome: 1,072 pages
11/22/63: 849 pages
Insomnia: 787 pages
Desperation: 690 pages
Needful Things: 690 pages
Dreamcatcher: 620 pages
Duma Key: 607 pages
The Tommyknockers: 558 pages
Bag of Bones: 529 pages

Yeah I'm a wee bit obsessed, ha ha. I've read all of his books multiple times. And I have a tattoo from the fifth book in his Dark Tower series on my right wrist!
And The Shining is an awesome book. The movie just butchered it completely. I remember watching it and being super upset when I was 14 and having to wait until I was about 21 or 22 I think to watch it again until I could really appreciate it. Because Jack Nicholson is awesome as well lol.

I heard it was a great book, but after reading about the annoying Bella, I am not sure I'll read this one or not.

Although, I bought the entire box set so I'm sure that record will be broken at some point in my life as I'm pretty sure one of the other books is longer! It was that big of a book I couldn't read it all in one go - I got half way through it and just read a couple of books and went back to it afterwards and I never do that with books.

That's my longest one too :)

Just bought Les Misérables after seeing the amazing movie and can't wait to dig into it in all it's 1400+ glory!

Wow... :)

And if you think just in one book, it would be "Les Misérables".
