Thurman (thurmanj) | 146 comments So I was on amazon and all I see are "based on movie" edition. So anyone recently buy the Kindle version of the Hobbit? Send me the link please.

Thanks

But the "movie tie-in" edition is just the same book with a different cover.

Thurman (thurmanj) | 146 comments are you sure. I have read other books based on the movie and they were exactly like the movie. I read the book earlier and it was so different Foe example, "The postman" as a kid i read it and it was a good book. After the movie came out i read bought/read it again. it was just the same as the movie
I haven't seen the Hobbit movie yet but i'm sure that it is different.the one you picked might be good and i'll know after i read and see the movie
i wish there was one called "original version:)

Chip Davis (cadavis3) | 17 comments There are several picture books and "companions" that are based on the movie. But the novel itself is the same as it has always been. I doubt New Line could change a single word without immediately being sued by the Tolkien estate. They don't get along very well as it is. :)

Thurman (thurmanj) | 146 comments ok Chip we will see. I have never known any movie to exactly like a book have you?

Daran | 599 comments There are no movie novelization of The Hobbit. Just copies of the original book with promotional covers.

I've been thinking about picking up the novel with Martin Freeman on the cover. I like his Bilbo, and another travel edition of The Hobbit couldn't go amiss.

When Fellowship came out I picked up the edition of LotR that has Sauron wearing the Ring on the cover. I have several other (some nicer) copies, but I read that one most. Largely because I'm not worried about damaging it.

Chip Davis (cadavis3) | 17 comments ... I think you misunderstood me. The movie isn't exactly like the book. I never said that. There are quite a few differences actually. What I'm trying to say is that there is no version of the novel that is based on the movie. As Daran said in the previous post, the "movie tie in" edition just has a new cover, they haven't actually rewritten it.
