Ed (edcorcoran) | 5 comments n+1 is a literary quarterly that I subscribe to. New issues don't seem to be automatically loaded anymore, so I have manually added the past two issues. However, afterwards, duplicate issues are added (either automatically or by someone else).

When I have added it, I have put the contributors names as authors. For the duplicate, 'n+1' is put as the sole author. Therefore, I can't merge them without changing all the author names.

What do you recommend I do to merge the duplicates?

Examples:
Issue 14

Other: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...

Issue 13

Other: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...

The 14 issues came out over a period of eight years. It looks a bit like a co-operative effort.

Current editors listed down the right (27 of them):

The author "n+1" is being used as the editor of the book/magazine and has 14 issues to "their" name. It makes sense to have a common link in the author field

Ed (edcorcoran) | 5 comments For the ones that I have added (the most recent three), I have just put the authors as listed on ISBNSearch.org:
http://www.isbnsearch.org/isbn/978098...

Also, the editors have changed over time. I don't mind going through all the issues and changing authors/merging/etc, but I want to make sure I do it right the first time.

If I put 'n+1' as the editor on every issue and add the other writers as authors, will that be best practices?

Also, when I need to merge a duplicate, will I need to edit both so all the authors/editors are the same before I can do so?

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments 'N+1' in primary author field is best practices.

Before merging would make sure the more popular edition did not leave out any of the authors on edition being deleted. To ensure stays on their author's profile.

Unless someone more experienced wants to weigh in saying the merge automatically keeps all the authors from both editions. I'm positive merging keeps all the reviews and ratings. Not seen anywhere where other information from deleted edition is sure to be kept unless you manually add to the kept edition.

Merging editions does not transfer authors; it doesn't transfer anything that you can edit on the edit page for the book edition. What transfers are readers' things such as shelves, reviews, statuses, etc.

Ed (edcorcoran) | 5 comments I did combine editions on all of them, but that doesn't seem entirely right. They aren't editions, they are duplicates. I don't think I can completely merge or delete them. Is that something I need to request an admin do?

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments If more than 5 goodreads members have shelved/rated an edition, it does take a superlibrarian or staff to delete. If less than 5, regular librarian can delete a duplicate without deleting reviews and ratings (in this instance, I would make sure the most popular edition did list all the authors credited in the duplicate edition before deleting).

Banjomike | 5166 comments I've made a start by deleting the version of issue 13 without the author info and added a much larger version of the cover.

Why is the ISBN listed as "Christophe"?

Ed (edcorcoran) | 5 comments I must have pasted "Christopher Glazek" in the wrong box. I've corrected it.
