If you like trivia, this is for you.
Each click gives you another random fact.

Below is an example
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"In the 1950s, Harper Lee moved to New York to become an author, and succeeded. Her 1960 novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, won a Pulitzer Prize and is a classic. But aside from a few nonfiction magazine articles she’s published since, she’s refused to write anything else—including a foreword for her lone novel."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BTW, according to Wiki, Harper is still alive at age 82. She was born in 1926.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Neat. Thanks, Joy.

I often wonder about authors & musicians - artists in general - who make it really big their first time out. Seems they can't top their original success & often ruin themselves trying. Tennessee Williams is a good example.

They have nowhere to go but down. I wonder if we could consider J.D. Salinger one of those artists. No, I guess not. He did some writing after _The Catcher in the Rye_, but Goodreads quotes Wiki as saying:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Jerome David Salinger is an American author, best known for his 1951 novel The Catcher in the Rye, as well as for his reclusive nature. He has not published a new work since 1965 and has not been interviewed since 1980."
Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Here's another "Amazing Fact" from the Fact Generator:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The “K” in Kmart stands for Kresge, as in the chain’s founder, Sebastian S. Kresge."
FROM: http://www.mentalfloss.com/amazingfac...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That may not seem amazing to you, but it's amazing to me because my first job (while I was in high school) was at Kresge's 5&10 cents store in Mount Vernon, NY. I begged the manager for the job and he gave it to me. I was stationed behind the toy counter and straightened it up very nicely.
I'll never forget how great it was to have my own money, other than babysitting money.
I went right out and bought myself a new dress!
Jim (jimmaclachlan) We had a Kresge 5 & Dime in our little town when I was little. It was a neat store. I hadn't recalled it became K-Mart. Cool.
Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments That brings to mind Woolworths 5 and 10 cents stores. Glens Falls' old Woolworth building is now the Wood Theater for the Performing Arts. ====>
At the northern end of Lake George, the town of Ticonderoga had a Woolworth store up until sometime in the 1990s. It was like going back into my past when I went into that store. It's now one of the locations of Hacker Craft, builders of classic wooden boats. There are some beautiful photos of these classic boats at the following webpage: ====>
Click on the arrows at the webpage to see a variety of models. They are gorgeous!
Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments BTW, the old 5 & 10s had a unique odor. I never could figure out what it was.
Another thing, my uncle once joked that when he got his first paycheck, he felt so rich.
He could go into the 5 & 10 cents store and buy anything he wanted. :)
The stores sold so many useful items which were affordable. There will never be anything again like the old 5 & 10s.
Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4050 comments The Fact Generator is fun, perfect for me. I love things like that. It's why I'm so good at Jeopardy and Millionaire; I'm a font of silly random facts.
I love trivia too. Thanks for reminding me about The Fact Generator website. I put it on my desktop just now. They say that one of the best ways to keep your spirits up is to keep learning new things.
Jackie (thelastwolf) | 4050 comments Maybe that's why I'm so happy all the time, LOL
I have to learn new things every day, something, anything. It doesn't even matter what. I'm just fascinated with so much information we've acquired.
