Beta Reader for Fantasy Short Story?

I don't know if 'beta reader' is the right term for what I am looking for.

I am writing, or rather have written and largely re-written a fantasy short story called 'One God Rose from the Depths'. But I am still not quite satisfied and I am quite at a loss for how to improve this thing. So what I would like is a pair of new eyes to read the thing and give me their thought on the matter.

It is 9k words long/19 pages.

The story:
This is a tale from an age when gods took an active part in the affairs of the world. Each god had its followers that it used carelessly to make war upon the other gods. The Godsworn knew nothing of peace and quiet, they were continually roused for war.

Mairin is one of the Godless. They live in utmust poverty outside the closed society of the Godsworn. That is until the day that Mairin tumbles off a cliff into the sea, where she discovers something that has been waiting for her.
