Chelsie So for some reason, I feel like the fact that the rebels can break into the Palace will come more into play in the next few books..... And for some reason, I have this gut feeling that America will be kidnapped by the Rebels in one of the later books. Here's why:
Not only can a group of the rebels break into the palace, but they have kidnapped people BEFORE!!! Maxon even mentions that it does occasionally happen at one point telling America what happens in the aftermath of some of the rebel attacks. Secondly, Maxon also says to America "It's only a matter of time before they hurt someone important to me," or something along those lines. (My book is with a friend right now so I can't be sure of the actual quotation) It totally sounds a foreshadow!!!!! Because not only has Maxon made it clear that he really does care about America, but also now that Aspen has come back into the picture by the end of the book, so not one but two people will be fighting to get her back. Which would cause not only fighting-tension, you know, like battle scenes and stuff, but romantic as well, (which we all know is the best kind:)) And my final reasoning: HOW GREAT OF A PLOT TWIST WOULD THAT BE??? If she ended the second book with that kinda cliff hanger, I would defiantly have to read the next one!!! It would be a very tactical ending on her part, to keep readers wanting more :) What do you think? Bogus or Bubbly idea?

Kristine You're very observant! I like your theories for the second book.

Sierra Franklin I also like your theories but I have to add that I think that Aspen will be on the rebels side. Aspen had a lot of injustice dealt to him by the kingdom:

In one of the lowest ranking, struggling to eat/survive, young brother publicly whipped because he was so hungry he stole a bit of fool, problems it be to try to marry for love, and now the chance of losing America to the Prince. He probably was recruited during the training.

Let it note that I don't like Aspen one bit: he seems to be a bit selfish and egotistical when it comes to America. However, I think he would be a fool for not WANTING to be a rebel.

It's like if someone started to repeatedly slap you in the face, you're not going to just turn around and happily defend your slapper while they are still slapping your friends and family and a lot of other people. You're going to want to slap them back.

Kristine Sierra wrote: "I also like your theories but I have to add that I think that Aspen will be on the rebels side. Aspen had a lot of injustice dealt to him by the kingdom:

Now that you've mentioned it, it's also possible for Aspen to join the rebels.. grrr.. there's a lot of possibilities in the next book! ^_^

Ilana there's definitely a lot that can be done. i agree with your mindset and it would make perfect sense for America to either be kidnapped or to go 'willingly' with Aspen since they have a past and she's not yet come to terms with how she feels about Maxon.

Sarah Dow Chelsie wrote: "So for some reason, I feel like the fact that the rebels can break into the Palace will come more into play in the next few books..... Georgia K The rebels definetely, do you think that Marlee will be one?

Haley Richmond I think something will either happen with the Rebels or China. One of them will attack. If it's the rebals I believe it could be Marlee, but if it was China I think somehow Elise would be involved in there because of her close relitives that live over there. I honestly belive that Maxon finds out about Aspen, and Maxon kicks him out of the palace, and Aspen could then join the Rebels. But another part of me believes that the King has a part in all of this, and is hiding things. And Book 2's description says something about a terrible tragedy, so someone is gonna die, I guarentee it! I think maybe the Rebels will raid America's village and possibly kill her family, or maybe the Rebels will break into the palace and kill Aspen? There are just SO many possible things that could happen in this next book!

Sierra Franklin Georgia wrote: "The rebels definetely, do you think that Marlee will be one?"

She is too good nature to be a rebel and she originally freaked out when they first attacked.I think Marlee is in love with someone in the castle.

Remember the day when the queens relatives came. She strangely wanted to stay in a certain spot where the sun was blazing down on her. I think she was waiting for someone. And it was around the same time that she disclosed to America that she wasn't in love with Maxon. I think she fell in love with someone during that time she was putting distance between herself and others. Maybe guard?

I think the choice for maxon would come down between celeste, marlee, and america. The other choices didn't have enough character development to be taken seriously. They will probably end up as the throw away characters. Whenever the author feels the need to eliminate a girl, they will be the first to go. (Like the girl who slapped Celeste... she was a throwaway)

The I think Marlee will take herself out the competition for love. ( I doubt seriously the author would pit Marlee and America against each other). Then Celeste will do something Eithcy to try to sabotage America. It wont work cause America will be picked at the end. I suspect that Aspen might either be killed off or dismissed.

Georgia K I feel like Marlee might actually be against America at the end, and then maybe the author can show what that does to their friendship. The rule about it being treason to be in love with someone else at the palace makes me think that maybe even though Maxon wouldn't accuse her the King might walk in on America and Aspen. Or maybe Celeste will walk in on them.

Gabby I think America will FINALLY CHOSE MAXON. Or, so I hope; because MAXON IS FREAKING AWESOME and I really want them to be together. Not with Aspen. I hate Aspen.

Kela Esther I'm thinking either someone in America's family will die or Marlee. Then, she's probably going to try and do something stupid and she'll get captured but not before Maxon finds out about Aspen. And I think she won't make a choice between them until the 3rd book or an even further book because I think in this book, the Kiera Cass is going to make us fall in love with Aspen or dislike Maxon.

OR, another weird twist that could happen is that Maxon sends America home and she'll find out she actually prefers him just as he's captured or something and she'll ask Aspen to help her find him by the end of the book.

OR the king is going to die, forcing Maxon to pick someone to marry immediately and maybe he won't pick America, or force her to choose/gives her an ultimatum.

Gosh, there are so many possibilities and I want the book to come out NOW!!! :'(

Night Esther wrote: "I'm thinking either someone in America's family will die or Marlee. Then, she's probably going to try and do something stupid and she'll get captured but not before Maxon finds out about Aspen. And..."
I was thinking the exact same thing

Samari Batista My theory is that during the attacks, the King will be killed, forcing Maxom to make a decision, but then America will be kidnapped and perhaps Aspen and Maxom will work together to try and save her, forcing America to be the one to choose between them in the end.

Maxom already told America that when she was ready, he would choose her in a heartbeat. All this waiting, is just waiting on her decision. He's already chosen. The problem is that America hasn't chosen, not technically.

Jeremiah Aspen will fight until the end of the book but Prince Maxon will always be America's prince.:)

Yes!!! for one side I think. But whatever she is, I think that she's pretty shady....... She is SOOO up to something....

Sarah That would be awesome! Does anyone know if this is a trilogy series?

Gabby Dunno

Antonia One of my theories is that Maxon finds out about the Aspen thing, but because he still loves America makes out an excuse for the rest and kicks her out of the palace. Then he or someone of his family (or maybe other contestant) gets kidnapped and she goes to rescue he/she.
I also share the theory of America getting kidnapped, that's also a really good theory!
P.S: I'm sorry if I have any grammatical/ortography mistakes, my mother language is Spanish, not English ;)

Janie Well, I believe America will be still be choosing between Aspen and Maxon most of the book, but instead of Maxon finding out her affair with Aspen, the King finds out. Aspen is deported to front lines against Rebels and America is given choice to either go home(and refuse feelings for Maxon) or face punishments. America is forced to choose Aspen and believes this is the right decision even with out having death hanging around her neck. Then castle gets raided and she misses Maxon more than anything. And(because I really like this theory) I believe then she will be kidnapped at the every end. Leaving a big cliff hanger, infuriating us all!

Conner I think Aspen or Maxon will die. And shell abandon the other. Someone WILL die! Someone important!!!!!!!

Do you think maybe the outsiders will turn out to be better people than they are made out to be? Maybe she'll find yet another love interest once or if she is kidnapped! That would be good!!

Conner Yes!!

Antonia I thought that maybe the queen will die... I think that she'll get close to America and then BAM! Shes kidnapped

Conner Totally! That would be awesome!

Jamie Antonia wrote: "I thought that maybe the queen will die... I think that she'll get close to America and then BAM! Shes kidnapped"

WAOH IF THAT HAPPENED THAT WOULD MEAN LIKE BOOK 3 AND 4 OMYGOD XD <3

Antonia That'd be a really good twist to the story, but I'd be SO SAD!

Maxon will probably start to develop real feelings for America, but Aspen and her will keep their relationship strong with lots and lots of drama. And then Aspen will probably turn out to be a rebel.

OMYGOSH THAT WAS WHAT I WAS TOTALLY THINKING ;D

Ifrah I've been thinking the same thing! I have a feeling/theory that America is going to get captured by the Rebels and Aspen and Maxon are going to have to work together to save her.

As far as Aspen joining the Rebels, I think the idea completely makes sense. What if he's already part of the rebels? Maybe he's in the guard so he can give inside information to the rebels?

I find the King to be really shady and I'm very suspicious of him. He's just too weird and must be up to something.

Also, it seems like everyone prefers Maxon but the thing is we don't really know Aspen that well. Now that he's at the castle, we're bound to get to know him better and I have a feeling the author is going to create a true love triangle in the second book which is going to make it much harder to choose between Aspen and Maxon.

Helemcole i hope it wont turn out to be like mocking jay where the gale is aspen

Sarah Grey The final selection will be between America and Celeste. Celeste will know about the feeling of Maxon towards America then she'll do anything to be picked. I think Maxon will find out about Aspen and America's relationship because of Celeste.

Jeremiah Celeste will die and that's what I'm expecting. And Aspen will finally tell the truth about his homosexuality. And Prince Maxon and Princess America will live happily ever after. The rebellion will stop because the rebels will come into their senses that fooling around the castle is real immature.

Jamie i think celeste would either be killed by the rebels or be captured by them

Tayla Calhoun I think the final three will be: Celeste, Marlee, and America. I also agree that there will be a kidnapping by the rebels, but i think it could be all three of them and then Prince Maxon will have to choose who to save.

Caraline definitely a bubbly idea!!!!!!!!!! cool :)

message 38: by Sue (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sue Maybe Marlee/one of America's maids will die??I think someone really important to America might die bcuz the sypnosis of the 2nd book said smtg about a devastating loss. What if Aspen or May dies!?That should be devastating enough. My final 3 predictions:Celeste,Marlee & America.I think Maxon might finally see how bad Celeste is & send her home or Marlee gives up on The Selection cuz she can't find a spark between her & Maxon.I'm on Team Maxon so I obviously wish that America will end up with him by the end of the series.

Katelyn Ria wrote: "Georgia wrote: "The rebels definetely, do you think that Marlee will be one?"

I'm actually not sure...marlee doesn't love him, I think it's either going to be kriss or marlee with Maxon and Americ..."

No. America is the best girl for the country, and Marlee has no feelings for Maxon (and that feeling is mutual). Kriss . . . well, we don't know much about her. But Maxon obviously cares for America. Aspen only cares about the fame that America now has. I say Aspen is in it for the money he may (or may not) get.

I hope it does. Gale deserves what he got. As does Aspen (Yeah, Everlark and Maxerica shipper right here).

Vatisha I hope it's more about the other selections too, and I hope to hear about the rebels and how they fit into the selection.

Antonia I feel like this book could be amazing or absolutely terrible... But it has a lot of potential!

Natlovesgod i dont think marllee loves maxon and i belive that she will discover america and aspens relationship and tell maxon so america will be treasoned but maxon would love her to much and just tell her to imediatly leave the palace, and right before she will leave the palace he will jump in front of her car to stop her and tell her how much he loves her :) just imaganing

Natlovesgod i hope may isnt the one who dies like in the book mocking jay

Chelsie IF MAY IS THE ONE WHO DIES, I WILL RIOT. I SWEAR. I COULD HARDLY LIVE THROUGH PRIM DYING, I COULD NOT DEAL WITH MAYS.

Me too! If you go to Kiera Cass' Pinterest pinboard for the Elite, she has a bunch of stuff--but there's a picture of a forest. That makes me think that somehow they'll be kicked out of the palace.

There's also a quote (from somewhere) and it says "Some people are meant to fall in love with each other but not meant to be together" and there's another one that says "You'll always be my favorite 'what if'" which better not be Maxon talking to America!!
(http://pinterest.com/kieracass/the-el... is her pinboard's URL)

I think a lot of you are skipping ahead to the third book. These all sound like things that would happen in the end (such as America choosing someone). All I can say is that The Elite is really, really good. :)

message 48: by Cara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cara You got to read it!!! I'm so jealous right now!!! So, you're saying that America still can't make up her mind??

Jess Chelsie wrote: "So for some reason, I feel like the fact that the rebels can break into the Palace will come more into play in the next few books..... From the start you could tell it wasn't going to be a book with one thing as the idea that would be kept without anything else, that could get boring, it would be the same thing as many other books. My prediction is that America will get captured, leaving Aspen and Maxon will have to work together to America back.

That's what I thought would happen! And I am firmly of the opinion that Marlee's secretly dating that guard America bumps into in the second chapter of The Elite. Something's definitely going to happen with the rebels, though.
