Indonesians Who Love English Books discussion
Book swapping

Great idea, Dini!

Thanks Ren for the info! I'll try to explore those avenues :)
It's a good idea. I have some books I got from giveaway. It'll be better to give them to people who will actually read them.

sanshow, aside from swapping or selling, you can also donate English books to groups such as Drive Books, Not Cars.
During IRF I met the folks at Drive Books, I think we could giveaway some of the books to them the next time we meet up. They have boxes to drop the books in every anomali cafe branch.
My list to swap so far:
7 Kinds of Ordinary Catastrophes by Amber Kizer (I won this from giveaway, not my kind of reading)
Icefire by Chris d'Lacey
Savvy by Ingrid Law (got it from giveaway, it was signed by the author)
Loser/Queen by Jody L. Anderson (again, giveaway)
Darkest Mercy (ARC) by Melissa Marr (giveaway again :D)
I Am Legend by Richard Matheson
Graveminder by Melissa Marr
Buried Fire by Jonathan Stroud
I think there are still some more books but I need to check them again.

@sanshow: I'd like The Stockholm Octavo, please. Are there any books you'd like from my list? (OOT but I didn't realize it was TOP in your profile pic until I looked closer!)
I'd love a group meet up for us all to swap our books. :) Any suggestions on the place?

I'd probably swap it with The Lost and Forgotten Languages of Shanghai :)
Yeah isn't he cute haha.
As for a meet up, perhaps somewhere convenient for most would be central area? Open to suggestions!

I would suggest places (i.e. malls?) around Sudirman/Thamrin, they would be easy to reach by most.

Biondy, I really want your Northanger Abbey to complete my Jane Austen's collection, but I have no book to swap. Would you like to sell it?

@Biondy: ohh...you're in luck because I'm planning to send some things overseas probably end of this week or early next week, so send me a pm with your address and I'll send over the book to you :)
@Dini & @Ainun: I'll send you girls my contact no. once I get my phone reactivated and we can arrange for a meet-up :)

@sanshow: thanks for the reply :D I've been searching for the book for the last 1,5 year. glad to find it at last :D

Sorry, I sent it out on Wednesday. Should've crossed it off my list but didn't have a proper computer!

[forgive my lack of capital letters, too lazy to use shift key]

For Biondy, sanshow and asdewi, if you're still interested in swapping the books, I can: a) bring the book(s) during next month's meet up if you're in Jakarta and you're coming to the meet up, or b) if not I can send the books to you.
Lala, I think borrowing/lending books is a good idea too.

I just recently move from a big house to Appartement, surely signinificant space comppression. What is compressed almost to non existance is my library/reading room. so... I have about 500 fiction and nonfiction Hardcover books I like to sell. Since I am in love with my books, cause I like to read over and over or reffer them. It's breaking my heart that I have to part with them. But I make a commitment to convert them to digital. hence I have to buy them again.
So why I am writing this?
Question to moderator, can I use this threat to sell my books. Surely someone, in this digital world, still the joy to read a "real" books.
Please comment friends
I just created a folder named Marketplace and Garage Sale. You can create a thread, name it "Redwin's Garage Sale" or something similar, and choose said folder.
right now because it's empty, you will only see it when u are creating new thread. it's under the folder rollout option.
If you still cant find it, you can just create your thread. I'll move it accordingly later.

I recently went through my collection and I found some books I want to swap/sell.
I won't list it here since it's over a hundred books:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/20495277-anny?shelf=to-sell-or-swap
Some of them are translated-to-Indonesian version. Since I don't live in Jabodetabek, any request will have to be done via postal service (I prefer JNE myself). Feel free to ask me if you're interested in any of my books.
Thanks!

Glad it arrived safely, hope you'll enjoy it! Sorry 'bout the late reply...

Here's my list of books I want to swap or sell (they're not much, but I hope you're interested):
to swap or sell shelf
Some of them are in Indonesian (perhaps anyone will also be interested) and I prefer to swap or sell some books as a whole series (such as The Wolves of Mercy Falls Trilogy, Ingo Chronicles, or The Selection Trilogy). Most of them are in a really good condition.
Thanks a bunch. :)

Here's my list: To sell or swap
I'm kind of interested in your Kite Runner (is it the English version?), so it'd be great if you can find something to swap/buy from my collection *grin*

@Anny : I'm interested in some of your books... :)

Island Beneath the Sea
The Prisoner of Heaven
Fatherland
Chronicle of a Death Foretold: Kronik Kematian yang Telah Diramalkan
Kisah Lisey - Lisey's Story
The Stand
I thought maybe we can list the books we want to swap and look over other people's lists, then make deals on which book(s) we want to swap with which. If you're located in Jabodetabek, I'm open to meeting up in person to exchange the books. If you're outside the city or abroad, maybe we can send the books.
Does this sound viable? Looking forward to your thoughts.
