Okay so last night I was reading and all of a sudden I jumped up and I was like 'OMG I need a notebook NOW!!!!' I ran around the the house trying to find a notebook and this is what I came up with a short story... here it isSince That Day
Pain. That's my world now. Pain is every waking minute of my life. I can't seem to escape. Pain is apart of me. I live it and I breathe it. Pain. Such a simple four letter word... that has destroyed my life. Pain rules me, it closes in on me until I suffocate. I can't breathe, that walls close in. Pain. There is no escape, every where I turn, every choice I make, it's there. It greets me like an old friend, it consumes me, until I'm possessed. Pain is my one and only feeling. It's taken over my body, it's in me, it thrives in me, lives in me. Pain. How do I escape? I'm trapped, a prisoner of pain. I am. Pain.
Nobody speaks to me anymore, I barely speak myself. Every time I do, words come out in whispers, my voice cracks, my throat burns. Pain. Where do I turn now? What choice can I make that releases me of my chains. That pulls me out of the grasp of pain. What corner do I turn to lead me out of the grasp of pain? Who can I trust? What doesn't lead to pain in the end?
Eternal pain. I'm afraid that's what I've been sentenced to. Where is the door? The door that will free me, the one with the rainbow on the other side. The happy ending. It's a dream. A hopeless dream. Sleep is the only relief. But the chances of sleep are slim. Once in a blue moon.
I dream of leaving this endless maze, of finding the door that leads me out, that brings me to a new beginning, a fresh start. I dream it so fiercely it seems real, until I wake up and the pain comes back in a rush.
Every step I take, pain. Every breath I breathe, pain. Every choice I make, pain. It's the most stubborn thing in the world, pain is. It won't leave, no matter how fiercely you try to claw out if it;s grasp. It's nasty roots tie around your ankles and legs, rooting you in place. It's cold fingers wrap around your wrist, with a grip so tight, you can't pull away, not matter how hard you try.
So instead of fighting, I let my guard down, I knock down the wall and give into the endless,
eternal darkness
of
Pain.

Wow, dark Ally, I didn't know you had such a shadowy side :) That's awesome that you'd just jump up and write when you felt inspired. A lot of people would just ignore it because it's easier (like me a lot of the time lol!)
And congrats on 33,000, well done!

Now THAT is a good sign Miss Ally. If you can bring out that kind of emotion in yourself while writing, there's a good chance you'll be able to do the same thing with your readers :)

My teacher shared m 'Since That Day' piece with my class and I got amazing reactions!!! One of the comments from someone I least thought would like my writing said (My teacher kept it anonymous) "Whoever wrote that is incredibly talented at creative writing and is really amazing at writing sensitive topics. Obviously that was a really sensitive topic that not many people can put into words and they did a fantastic job." I almost died!! I gave him a copy of the story and told him it was me... he said he wanted to talk to me about it sometime *grins*

Hey folks, I have two flash fiction stories I wrote over the past few days. One's called "The Last Temptation of Snow White" (adult language: http://lwpatricks.com/publications/fl...
The other one is a Kung-Fu Fable entitled: The Path of Crows.

Hmm... I'd like to be more proactive with my writing this year, and share things, but... I'm not exactly writing YA, so I'm not sure it'd be so OK to do it in this group specifically? (Let's just say the one short story I posted on GR, while not being sexually graphic, was kind of about weird people with weird kinks, so...)

LOL, I think you can set some type of a disclaimer so people know that it's age restricted can't you? You'd still be welcome to share it as long as you tell people that and then they can choose whether to read it :)

Well then, if anyone's interested... Let's just say it does involve weird foreplay. Nothing sexually graphic, but not to be read if you don't like eros/thanatos kinks.

I don't typically share my writing with many people. But hey, why not. This is just something I wrote after a heartbreak.
I don't typically share my writing with many people. But hey, why not. This is just something I wrote after a heartbreak. I met a man at the hotel where I stayed
he turned to me and said
I can see a broken heart a mile away
no use trying to brush me off
your eyes, they give the walls away
So I told him about the man that broke my heart
the man who built the walls
he seemed to know more about my walls than I did
I tried to walk away
but thought maybe he can help me rebuild
I met a man at the bar last night
he caught a glimpse of my smile
and said it was a sorry sight
I can spot a broken heart a mile away
your eyes give you away
so I told him about the man who I thought could save my life
the man who just helped me redecorate
I met a girl on the street where I live
she was walking down the pathway and smiled as I passed by
I looked down as she looked away
and she said to me
you finally learned
the only way to hide the lies
is to avoid looking anyone directly in the eye.
And this is the intro to the sequel of a short story I wrote..
And this is the intro to the sequel of a short story I wrote..Madhatter. Have you heard of the term? Well, the character you’ve heard of I’m sure. A grand fellow, though he never did follow his true purpose. He let his gift become him; he allowed it to swallow him whole. But he was a good madhatter, I’ll give him that.
We aren’t meant to be madhatters though. We aren’t supposed to encourage madhattery .Poor Alice, thrust into our world without any knowledge of it. It is supposed to be a choice, a decision.A way of life chosen by the few left capable of handling our world. You can’t put reality in make believe and expect it to survive.Reality can survive without imagination, but imagination needs reality to thrive.
Which is why the madhatter went mad.We are your imagination, and he tried to live within his own.
If only you saw Alice today, she is much like my Isabella now. Oh, Isabella was a smart one. The smartest I’ve ever met. Of course, she was the first to figure it out. She knew from the beginning, I was sure of it; she just didn’t want to let herself believe it. I was more a part of her than she would ever say.Though she moved on quickly, she will forever consider her tea to be herbal soup, and she will always have a purple velvet suit hanging in her closet.
And this is what we are meant to do. This is what our gift is for. Not to create something new; not to change a person into one of us, but to give them the choice. To allow them to make of our madhattery how they wish.
After all, they are the reality. We are simply their imagination and they will use us how they please.

Lol, glad you like it. I never finished writing the sequel. In fact besides some poetry here and there (which has never been my strongest) I haven't written anything in probably two years. The first part to the Madhatter story was called Tea at The Oak Tree. It started as an ode to my best friend. He inspired my madhatter character. However close to the end of the writing he ended up passing and I couldn't bring myself to finish it. I turned it from a novel to a short story and haven't written anything since. But being on here and seeing my old writing has me missing it. Perhaps I will put up Tea at the Oak Tree later for some feedback.

Aww cool, it's good to miss things when you look back. It gives you a reason to pick them back up ;)

Hi Thomas :) Wheb it comes to character naming, I really work hard at it. I believe that each main and supporting character has a name that is perfect for them, but you have to work at it. Sometimes you have to try writing with a few different names until one of them feels right and you start to believe that the character is really coming alive :)

Right, this feels like ripping a bandage; fast yet painful. Now I'm going to share the first chapter of my novel, I'm afraid i don't consider it YA but more like romantic comedy. There's no adult material, and please be ruthless, i need feedback.

@David Thx for that. @Ally Did I totally gauge this story wrong from the excerpt? I thought this story was about a girl who boxes - my bad.
