Gosh... it's been several years since I read this, but thinking back I'm not sure that most of them seemed to...SPOILERS
I think perhaps Bilbo does, though. And the leader of the Dwarves - but I can't remember particulars.
Well for sure Bilbo does. He lives in his comfort zone in the Shire for so long. And then all of a sudden Gandolf shows up and kinda makes him go on an adventure. I also think when Bilbo kills Shelob from Mirkwood all by himself he really becomes a different character. Even inspired him to name his sword "Sting". Eventually I think that Bilbo becomes the leaders of the group rather than Thorin.
Great comments, Angie! Very good point about Gandalf taking Bilbo out of his comfort zone (my, Gandalf tends to do that a lot, doesn't he;>)
I agree with you Angie. Bilbo definitely grows. He was not a willing participant at first. But later, as Angie mentioned, he was the leader of the group. He built a lot of self-consciousness and self-confidence as time went on.
Those are great names, Angie - I mean, Daisy Idril;>My elven name is: Celebriän Lossëhelin (I'm not even sure I know how to pronounce it lol! :>)
Oh, I see. My Elf name is: Nessa Telemnar, with no special accent marks. I like it and my hobbit name of Ruby Sandybanks of Frogmorton. ;-)
