Money and gift cards...one to Barnes and Noble :-)
But best of all...my grandmother's platform rocking chair...fond memories of her sitting on it, reading to me when I was little.

Elizabeth, I seem to remember that was what you had been hinting heavily for? Glad you got it.
Which books Jen? I got Mary Berry's autobiography. My husband got a doorstopper about WWI by Max Hastings.
"We" as a family received a Magimix plus a hundred attachments from the in laws. Absolutely chuffed to finally have such a thing as we could never justify the cost but it will be so useful. Otherwise:
Rugby posts and a Lego Sopwith Camel for my son
Netball post for my daughter
Remote control cars "for the children"not my husband and his father at all
And our new favourite game - 3D noughts and crosses. Absolutely brilliant!

Very very pleased with my book. Also got one about classical music.
My daughter got a Kindle Fire HD - which will stop her borrowing mine :D
My son got a remote controlled car as well - he's a bit young for it, but Daddy's helping him play with it! He also got a remote controlled dinosaur. He's fascinated by dinosaurs and most of his presents were dinosaur themed.
My husband got a remote-controlled helicopter, which he's wanted for ages.
I got Melissa Explains It All: Tales from My Abnormally Normal Life by Melissa Joan Hart - have loved her ever since Clarissa. I also got Highly Inappropriate Tales for Young People by Douglas Coupland :D
Way late but sushi roller
15 lb. sushi rice
Nori
wine
silver earrings
amazon gift card
* not in order of importance
oh , and play station 2:old - school puzzle video game.
Got The Time Keeper from my wife's aunt yesterday. And treated myself to Eat - The Little Book of Fast Food today. My wife got And the Mountains Echoed as a gift too.
Ohh, sounds like some excellent reading. I'm going to use my gift card for books - so many choices! I can't decide. Looking for sales.

One inch of precipitation ≈ 10 inches of snow. Today, we will have over an inch of water in the forecast. Back to the shoveling. School was cancelled.
This group is BAD for my bank balance :))Already bought 10 books this year, and it's only 2nd January!
Our three rivers flooded over Christmas. Levels getting higher again. River Stour only a few metres from our house, but we're higher up, won't flood.
What is the temp there? -14.444° C here in northern US. (I'm going to post from now on in metric). lol.
My husband had to take my MIL home this morning, to Swanage, and they drove through some horrendeous floods around Blandford. Gillingham is slowly sinking - the three rivers have all burst their banks, and several roads are now closed and impassable. Have uploaded a couple of photos I took whilst out for a walk this afternoon.
Paul wrote: "That means it is heading my way!"Hope you've got enough sandbags! I've never seen floods this bad in Gillingham before. I thought the ones before Christmas were bad enough, but this is a whole lot worse. The ground is so waterlogged, there's just nowhere else for it to go.
The Stour has got to rise a lot more before it gets to our house, but some of the houses closer to the river, and in the next road are under threat. Some are actually cut off. I waded through some of the flood to get photos and it was close to the top of my wellies. Seriously bad. Don't want to worry you Paul, but yes it is on its way.
My family live in Grays in Essex Jo and they are ok so far, as are we in Brighton. The waves have been amazing to watch though.
Hope you all managed well with the flooding. It is -25°C here today. I have not been back to work. There is a huge drift in the front of my house. I'll upload some pictures. We can only shovel for a few minutes at a time for fear of frostbite.
Sandy put vaseline on any exposed skin before you go out to protect it and wear layers, a thin layer close to the body and various shirts, jumpers and your coat and make sure to wear more than one pair of socks, thin ones on first. Also before you put your feet in your boot/shoes put a plastic bag, like a bread bag over each socked foot to keep your feet dry.We used to play outside all day with those temperatures when I was a kid. Drink hot chocolate and tea to keep your insides warm!
PS (of course, having said all that, I have had frostbite on my fingers and toes quite a few times but nothing extreme).
Thanks for the sound advice. The bread bag shoes made me laugh because I did that yesterday with my teenager. That's what we did as kids - he said it wasn't a real thing. I need to go back out I'll try what you said. : )
For all those who are not sure what to read next, I saw this on Book Riot:

I Luke that idea, but I'm not sure I'd be disciplined enough to accept the choice and not put it back for another go!

You and me both, Elizabeth. I know already that is what I would do!

You two!
My next to read is defined by what is due back to the library next.
Book Riot is a great site by the way.

At the moment, I am also dictated by library returns, I have current book plus two which I can't renew! Good reading incentive though, making great inroads...
