How do/will Andrew and Camryn support themselves?

I can't say enough great things about this book, but one question kept nagging me while reading...how will Andrew and Camryn support themselves? Especially, with a child on the way. Are they both living off their parents' money...neither seems to have a job at the current time. Andrew is recuperating from brain surgery and Cam left her job/life in NC and has been taking care of him it seems.

Anyone else wonder this?

I thought about that too. But I guess Andrew had a good amount of savings and then probably inherited money from his father who was well off. I assume Cam is probably less wealthy but Andrew is probably supporting her.

Teaser for Edge of Always:

Now, in the highly anticipated sequel to The Edge of Never, Camryn and Andrew are pursuing their love for music and living life to the fullest as they always swore to do. But when tragedy befalls them, their relationship is put to the ultimate test. As Camryn tries to numb her pain, Andrew makes a bold decision: To get their life back on track, they’ll set out on another cross-country road trip. Together they find excitement, passion, adventure-and challenges they never could have anticipated.

From the teaser I guess something bad will happen to the baby, maybe she has a miscarriage.

They weren't exactly poor. They were really closer to privileged kids who decide to "slum it" on a road trip. Sort of like how wealthy kids go backpack across Europe and stay in hostels for the hell of it. I got the impression that both Cam and Andrew came from upper middle class/well to do upbringings and were living in part off of their parent's money and credit cards. Plus, Andrew might have made a little of his own money from modeling and from gigs while Cam had a job and was supposed to be moving in with her best friend before she left. She might have had some money saved as well.

The money in #1 also bothered me . . . yes, he modeled but really? He made enough to live off months later? I don't think so . . .

I missed that Cam's dad was wealthy. Maybe I skimmed past it.

In #2 the money is sort of already explained at the end of #1 when they discuss what their plans are before he has the seizure.

No matter what . . . traveling is expensive. Esp living in hotels for long periods of time and not finding a deal/week long stay places. Whateves. It is fiction . . .

For me the last chapter could be deleted and we could be left with the image of the tragedy....but...what about money? Yes, it bothered me too. There were few situations when I was thinking: what a waste of money! (eg. when Andrew bought a plane ticket for Cam).

It was explained on Andrew's part (when they saw his dad's house and when he explained about rebuilding his car) though they did say when they were talking about traveling that before their money ran out they would sing gigs on the road to make sure they were never left high and dry.

We're probably going to have an answer to that question in The Edge of Always !

They probably get divorced and then he pays child support while she kicks herself for not going to college, like 50% of couples who get married that young and knowing each other a few months do. (I'm no fun)

In my HEA scenario, they will be just fine. They're both resourceful and Andrew likely inherited quite a bit of money from his Dad. They would only have to put off their dream of traveling for 2-3 years. They're so "in sync" & work together beautifully that having a baby is not going to derail them.

Andrew and Cam both have wealthy fathers. Andrew was a model,a mechanic and has musical talent. Cam and Andrew can sing together and she does have a college degree so can do something.

I worried about that too and how a child would interfere with their shared ideal future: seeing the world and finding jobs wherever they journeyed. Then I figured, why not just imagine that they retain their dreams and live that life? It's not impossible, and I don't think either one of them wants to sponge on their parents. They could make music and Andrew, at least, could earn money that way. I think they both want to live a life of experiences not luxuries.

I never got the impression that Cam had money. I thought that her dad had a good job and she was using his money, but I never thought she was rich. Guess I missed that.

that never bothered me. I remembered him saying that he had made 50k and the father must have left him money.

loved how the book was written...right up until about the last chapter...never want my kids to abandon their life's dreams about 6 weeks after meeting someone and be pregnant, unemployed and living of my money at the age of 20...

Jenny I HATE to be a downer but I have a strong feeling that the baby won't be around in #2. I *feel* it is the tragedy that makes her "numb". ...more

I had the same thought but....from mentions throughout the book I realize they had no money problems...Cam came from money and Andrew had is own.....they're good

They both come from money lucky them!!

Andrew's Dad died and left them money, remember the car and he owned a successful construction company and he talked about making 50,000 at a time in modeling

Andrew was a model/mechanic and Camryn has a little bit of money and uses her Dad's credit card. I'm also going out on a limb and say (view spoiler)

That was the same exact question I had while reading the book. Must be nice to have wealthy parents.
