Trisha | 30284 comments just one??
I think my favorite this year is The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Not only because it's an awesome book, but it was the first book I really got to enjoy with my teenager. Not only did we both pre-order the signed copies, read it at the same time - we also went to meet John Green when he was touring with his brother Hank.
I've read books with my teen for a long time (since she was in third grade) and this was the first time we really got to experience it together.

And it's just such a great book to get to read together.

Really, wow??

Jay, is there one thing that stood out about this book? I'd love to hear more.

another group did this as a "group read" and their comments kind of scared me away from it...it's good??

message 5: by Jay (new)

Jay | 5197 comments Yes I thought I was good

I just really liked the main character

She's brave,funny and a awesome assassin

All of the characters were cool

The author said it might be a six book series

message 6: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments hmmm, strong main character and good surrounding characters.... sounds good! alright, I'll give it another try!

thanks jay!! :D

message 7: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi Mm I will wait until 2012 is over. Then I will see what I have read and pick one of those as my fav. Still got 25 days left to read books, and who knows maybe I will find more candidates for the fav book 2012. :)

message 8: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi Sarajayne wrote: "Good point-feel free to answer the question as it gets closer to the end of the year :) I know for me, looking at what I have left to read in December, there's probably not going to be any favorites-just a lot of vampire fluff lol.
"

Well I still got some books I am looking forward to and want to read. Almost up-to-date with my library books so I can start on those. :)
I will probably pick a fav around 30 December. :)

message 9: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Gee... You are so cruel, Sarajayne! Only one? hehe... For me it has to be Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1) by Katie McGarry

message 10: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments hehe.. Maybe the book is not for you Sarajayne since you don't like contemporary romance much :) Let me know IF you read it :D I am really eager to read book 2 :D

message 11: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments New Favorite book. don't get me wrong, I love a good John Green Novel.

but The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay literaly took my breath away and didn't give it back until the very end.

I thought that book was 'okay' it was pretty disappointing in my eyes. I just thought it had such a stereotypical 'plot twist' if you can call it that, and the love story was so unnecessary and out of character :l

From what I'm aware of yes, they do sound interesting as to how she got where she is to be honest. I'll probably read the first one of those before the second throne of glass book.

message 18: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) This is a hard question..
I guess it will be Slammed (Slammed, #1) by Colleen Hoover .

message 19: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi Btw question, can I have 2 favs? I mostly read either in English and Dutch. So I would like to pick a fav book that is in English and a fav book that is in Dutch.

Sandee is Reading (sandeeisreading) I have to agree that this is a hard question!

I would have to go for Fall Guy by Liz Reinhardt . :)

That is a secret. :) I got some candidates for both, I am waiting for 2012 to almost end before I will pick one for both. (since I still have enough to read (either Dutch or English)). :)
But I am hoping it is ok for me to pick two (one for each language).

Thanks for sharing girls :)

For Dutch I pick: Een uur en achttien minuten by Peter Zantingh

message 37: by Mara (new)

Mara (maraanne) Oh, this is super-hard. There were actually quite a few good ones published this year . . . I don't know what to pick! I loved The Dark Unwinding and The Scorpio Races more than I can say. And Keeping the Castle. But, I am going to choose:

Ripper by Stefan Petrucha

It is still, in my opinion, the No. 1 YA book this year.

The Snow Child was absolutely amazing. It took my breath away and is one of my 2012 fave reads.

I don't know what to pick for number one... Maybe The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver ?

message 39: by Colin (new)

Colin (sandman22) How can I only choose one?!

While it didn't come out in 2012, my favorite book I read in 2012 was definitely Catching Fire. So many twists and end-of-chapter cliffhangers always made it hard for me to stop reading. I often found myself going and going in order to finish it. Can't wait for the movie later this year!!

message 40: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 05, 2013 11:30AM) (new)

Ugh. A bunch of my fave authors had really let me down in 2012. But I guess my fave book of the year would either have to be:
Hallowed (Unearthly, #2) by Cynthia Hand or Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare .

message 41: by Mehsi (last edited Jan 05, 2013 11:24AM) (new)

Mehsi A tip for next time use the add book/author link and search for the books there and add them (you can pick between only a link or a cover picture). Or make the images smaller, because they are quite huge.

Hallowed seems like a nice book, might go and see if I can find book one.

LOL. Thanks for the tip! I never really posted pics before, so the tip was needed! :)

Hallowed is a sequel, so I suggest you read Unearthly first if you haven't done so. In advance, I'm Team Christian. ;)

Thanks again!

message 43: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi You're welcome. :) Glad I could help.

And ah, it is a sequel? Then I will see if I can find Unearthly and see if it is good. :)
Team Christian? What teams do we have?

You're welcome, thanks for letting me know about Hallowed.

There's a Team Christian and a Team Tucker. Christian may seem a too-perfect guy in the first book, but wait until the second before you decide what you think of him (though I was all for him since book one. *Rolls eyes* Me and my pretty boys...).

Unearthly (Unearthly, #1) by Cynthia Hand Enjoy reading!

Gisbelle wrote: "Yes, I used to watch the anime when I was young, but I never read manga before :)"

LOL. Well, the anime was SO different from the manga, that they're remaking it to match the manga story-line this time around!
