Tammi Taylor | 1 comments Hello fellow book lovers! I am Tammi and I live in Poquoson, Virginia, which is adjacent to Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia. Some of my favorite authors are Michael Connelly, Diana Gabaldon, Laurell K. Hamilton, John Patterson, Kristin Hannah, John Grishman, and the list goes on and on. Not a day goes by that I'm not reading something! I have just started reading "All my Love, Detrick" by Roberta Kagan.

Hana (hanayat) | 2 comments I'm Hana, Libyan/Canadian, currently in Libya.

It's hard for me to single out an author, a book as well, to answer this question. But perhaps I could share my fav books I read this year:

- To Kill A Mockingbird (Harper Lee)
- Honor (Elif Shafak)
- The Secret Life of Bees (Sue Monk Kidd)

Martha Rosemberg | 9 comments I'm Martha, a Brazilian native, born in Pouso Alegre, Minas Gerais. I think that I'm a bookworm since I was born. Unfortunatelly, few people know the Brazilian authors. I can recommend Machado de Assis, Graciliano Ramos to start with.

Hi Alan. I read Tom Sawyer just last week and really think Twain's style is pretty catchy. An excellent reference even though written over a century ago!

message 1959: by Jerralyn (new)

Jerralyn Hello I'm Jerralyn from Louisiana. I read very slow but I enjoy reading. I buy more books then I think I can read. Yet when I go to the store or thrift store i'm always looking for more books. I have all my books in boxes due to the fact I have one bookshelf. lol. I'd love to own more shelves so I could color display them. I've seen that done before and think they look nice that way. Well I hope I didn't bore you'll.
Have A Great Day,
Jerralyn

message 1960: by Zara's Corner (new)

Zara's Corner Hi I'm Zara and I live in Western Australia. I live with my husband of 25 years and our 18 year old daughter who we homeschool. Our 23 year old son lives on his own.

I'm new to this group which I only discovered last night. I'm glad to have found somewhere to talk about Glennon Melton's book.

I have also recently started up a book blog so I hope to add lots more book reviews to it in the coming weeks and months.

I'm constantly on the look out for more books especially freebies if I can get them. I source them from libraries and from secondhand book sales.

message 1961: by Pam (new)

Pam Bryson (houstonpam) | 1 comments Hello! I'm Pam and I live in Houston, TX. I'm a book worm and have been since I could read. My favorite quick reads are fantasy books aimed at middle school students. I'm looking for a bit more structure and interaction with other adults and I hope this group will fit the bill.

message 1962: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Greetings,
I'm Wendy from Tampa. Love to read and my favorite books are ones I wouldn't have picked for myself but end up loving which is why book clubs are a must--(was that just a run on sentence?)

Grateful to Oprah for igniting us book lovers with such a widespread book club. And I love SUPERSOUL SUNDAY. Keep up the great work, Oprah! We love you.

Looking forward to all that comes with this group.

message 1963: by Dean (new)

Dean Welcome Wendy.
I'm Dean from Germany, I agree with you.

I'll looking forwards to your reviews :)
Glad to have you here by us.

Kelly | 55 comments Hello Oprah book club Members,

My name is Kelly. I live with my husband of almost 24 years and our 3 children. I am also a stepmom so our daughter finally has come in the mix. I am currently reading several books at once or two at a time. My recent book is Angels by Kyle Gray, Don't let anyone dull your sparkle By Doreen Virtue, and I am getting ready to read You don't know me By David Klass. I also have other books that I have put on hold to read but own them. Revival by Stephen King.

For the ones looking for the sci FY fantasy young adult books, I just got done reading one of my son's library book called House of Dark Shadows. It was a good read.

Nice to meet you all.

Kelly

I'm an absolute bookworm- I cross genres; anything where I connect with the writing. Favorite authors: Elizabeth Strout, Lisa See, Ken Follett, Bill Bryson, to name a few...
My debut comes out with St. Martin's 1/31/16. I enjoy writing more much than selling, so I'm a bit nervous for this next step.

I love to read but unfortunately find if very difficult to find the time to read much these days. There don't seem to be enough hours in the day I find. I have many books which I am to read someday. haha! I love the look and feel of new books but am quite happy to busy second-hand books if they are in good order. Any suggestions as to how I can try to put some time aside to read?

Welcome everyone. I love to read everyone's post. I love to see what new books I can add to my collection. Have a good day.

message 1971: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 55 comments Hi Theresa,
Nice to meet you! I work in a nursing home as a housekeeper and I also do other various jobs. I am subbing as a receptionist. So I read when I can.
If you rarely find time to read, my suggestion would be like if you get a break, you saying your nurse I know your breaks can be cut off short. Or do like men do when you have to go to the bathroom to do a number 2, take a book that you are interesting in reading in with you while you do your business. I have done this to get squeeze in time to read. I also have kids to pick up from school, I will take my book in the car and read while parked waiting for them to come out from school and that's how I get my reading done. I sometimes get so engrossed in the book and my middle child will be like come on mom. I will say sorry I had to finish this last paragraph or sentence. (that could be an new OCD thing I got going on) Hope this helps a little anyway.

Kelly

Wow! It's a pleasure to be here, I must say! My name is Bianca McCormick-Johnson, and I am joining from New Orleans, LA. I am a self-published author of the released title, "I'm G.O.O.D." (Getting Over Obstacles Daily) and also an avid reader. Currently, I do not have a favorite book or author, but I did enjoy reading Act Like A Man, Think Like A Lady by Steve Harvey and Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. As an author, it has been difficult finding time to catch up on my readings lately because I'm always writing. Thus, I'm open to suggested readings, and that's why I'm here.

Michele Akerlind | 3 comments Hi there my name is Michele Akerlind. I am new to this group. I have just written and published 3 books with 4 more to come in the children's series about Paisley the dog. I have begun my 8th. It is so great to see them come to life. The first book I started in December and the other 6 I have completed from May until now. I am also writing an autobiography which I hope to publish next year. The books were an idea which came after a mission trip to Cambodia with some proceeds going to help the children over there. I did my first library reading not long ago, was fun to be the main character Mistress 'Shell. The title is Paisley is a Pupstar - a story about an Australian Wonder Dog. I hope you all love it as much as I do and at the heart of it is the reason why I am doing this is to help the children saved from Prostitution and Trafficking. Thanks! Michele aka Mistress 'Shell :)

Bernice, it didn't live up to the hype for me. It took me nearly a month to read it. I gave it 2 stars.

Hi Theresa I'd love to recommend a book of mine but I wont. Why? Because all nurses are run off their feet and have little time for anything else. I know. My wife was a nurse. So, an awful thing from a writer to say, don't fret about the need to read a book. Just live your life and when circumstances change down the line and there is less pressure on you I will recommend a book.

Best regards

Patrick.

I had a hard time getting through it as well, and it was relatively short. I found the character development lacking and the prose did not flow. The timeline was without clarity as well.
