Hi, I'm Malik from Brooklyn, NY. My favorite author is Ngugi wa Thiong'o of Kenya, currently a professor at the University of California. My favorite author is a toss up between Stephen King and Chuck Palahuniuk, but I will read pretty much anything I can get my hands on. My favorite book is Shoeless Joe by WP Kinsella.I've been a book worm since I first learned how to read and used to read 3 or 4 books at a time when I was kid - literally, I would sit on my bed surrounded by the books and read a few pages at a time from each one. I had to stop "fun" reading for awhile during grad school, but now that I've graduated, I think I'm making up for lost time!
Jessie wrote: "I'm Jessie from Worcester, Massachusetts. Like many bibliophiles, I can't pick one favorite book - but there are three novels that I will go back and re-read many, many times - Jane Eyre by Charlo..."I'm from Worcester too!

My name is Marianne and I am also a good-reads author!I am a reader and writer from Manitoba, Canada.
I used to read books to escape reality, now I read books that can teach me something. My favorite genre is memoir, or anything that is based on a true story. I have read most of the books on Oprah's Book clubs and hope to finish them all.
My inspirational memoir actually begins with one of Oprah's comments that she made during live television a few years ago. Her comment made such an impression on me that I began to look at my life different, which is why I ended up writing my story. I hope that one day she will honour me by checking out my survival story, but i also recognize that there are many other people just like me, and as long as I make a difference in the average day person's life (by inspiring them), than that is more than I can ever hope for.
BTW - I cant wait to read Twelve Tribe Hattie
